Sorry! I blame the popcorn.

I’ve gotten the lecture.

No spankings. So you can all keep your minds out of THAT gutter.

But I have an EXCUSE! Cuz I discovered this really great new popcorn in snack sized bags and I won’t use my keyboard while my fingers are greasy.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Sorry, all. I’ll try to pay closer attention from now on. (I’ve finished some of my projects so maybe there’ll be time now.)

    Popcorn defense huh?
    Hummmm.
I love the look that Henry is giving Coreen in the first image.. It really fits!

I heard on the news last night that they are hoping that the writer’s strike will be resolved this next week.
I sit here with mixed emotions. It is great that lots of folks who have had now work.. may be able to start working again…
But I was hoping that the strike would help when shopping BT around for a new network.
I am still hopeful for a 2nd season of Blood Ties

  2. I almost got to be first. Darn you rifkind your just too fast! If I hadn’t taken the time to log in I’d have beat you!

AND I did write a LOOONG post, to give you a fair shake at being the FIRST post… but….

  6. Popcorn! What an excuse gypsy! I’m not buying it! I might give you a break if you tell us about your nifty projects though. Oh, but that would mean puuting down your bag of popcorn wouldn’t it?;-))

I spent 6 hours yesterday editing the next 3 chapters of WildStar’s book.
I LOVE the story and the world that she is creating. It is so great to be working with her on the story.
I absolutely love reading the chapter, and being able to as the author…ummm what did you mean by this line? What about that?? and then she goes in and adds a few lines to explain what is happening.. It is so rewarding.

  8. Lady Rifkind I defer to you superiority, but watch out for next time!

  9. rifkind said

    Again with the typos..
    urgh!
I absolutely love reading the chapter, and being able to ASK the author…

    I need caffeine! That’s the ticket…
I have had NO Caffeine yet…..

That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it!

  10. She is doing a great job on it. Although I have to admit I’m a couple chapters behind on my reading. All the better though when I do get to get caught up I’ll have more to enjoy!

I’ve found a couple of lovely ladies over a KSCentral to help me with that scene that I was having so much trouble with. One of them is a midwife! They’ve both been a real treasure of information. I’ve also been conversing with some folks at the Irish Gaelic Translation Forum that have been very helpful as well. I been making some progress. I should be able to get that scene posted fairly soon.

Anzia’s been doing some editing for me. I can only hope that the adage “no news is good news” ring true!

  11. rifkind said

It is so cool that the internet has allowed folks to connecgt.
I’m glad that you have found some folks to help with Kieron’s story, and the writer’s block that you had with the one chapter.
Cool that you found some ladies to help with Gaelic, How great is that?
I was thinking the other day… and remembered somewhere that the vampire had awakened BEFORE sunset… and realized that it was Kieron infiltrating my mind… so your story has stayed with me too..
I am looking forward to reading more and more of your story!

  12. Actually I’ve been conversing with a both men and women over there, but mostly men. I’ve had to kind of not go into too much detail about the story, just ask vague general questions about culture. The first time I posted over there was way back when I first started writing and I told about my subject. I got absolutely no responses. I was afraid that they might have taken offense to the topic. So I am very careful how I word things now and don”t speak of vampires.

  13. rifkind said

I can understand. There is the deep religious heart to the country. In an OLD WORLD way, and even though Kieron is deeply deeply religious, those who practice the Catholic faith in Ireland today may not like the idea of vampires.
The best thing to do is be faithful to his deep faith and culture.
It will stand on its own.

  14. In most of the writing manuals I’ve read they recommend avoiding using foreign languages, so I am really limiting that. I’ve thrown in a few things here and there were appropriate, but then I just have to translate them so It doesn’t alway work well.

They’ve been been helping me with things like what kind of food was eaten in Ireland in the 1600’s and I needed a lullaby that was appropriate to the time period and area.

I’m glad my story left an impression on you. I still have a lot of work to do on it, but I keep plugging away.

  15. I learned a couple of interesting things. You remeber the scene Where Monica is dreaming that she’s Cait? I have her “setting potatoes to boil for the evening meal.”
In my time period that would not necessarily work. Although they had potatoes at that time, they were not the staple of the Irish diet that most American’s associate with Ireland. This is the truly interesting part Keiron dies in the Battle of Boyne in 1690. It was actually a direct result of James’ defeat the the potato became such a staple. I was told the the British torched the fields in retaliation and the only thing that survived was the potaotoes because they were underground……

  16. rifkind said

    Very interesting!
In our book we are also trying to be sure that things that we reference are “period accurate”.
Not every place had chickens as a part of the normal diet…
and Camels didn’t end up in egypt until AFTER our timeframe.

I like that you are making your story accurate. Good for you!

  17. …..and also the Irish culture is deeply influenced by fear and superstition of Faeries, and even though they were Catholic, the superstitions that carried back to the ancient Celts would have still played a role in their views of things. Particularly that long ago in the history. Maybe I can tie that in somehow.

  18. rifkind said

    oooh,
    I LIKE that idea!
Yes even though folks have the Christian faith, each place has it’s own flavor and old myths and stories still love on.
Finding some old Celtic links could be a great little treasure to leave in the story.

  19. Cheese and milk product were very important parts of the diet. Actually I was told that they preferred it “soured” and developed excellent cheeses. The Irish were among the first to perfect the production of cheese. Oats and grains would have been prevalent at that time. Pork, mutton, & fish would have been a big part of the diet.

    >>>>I like that you are making your story accurate. Good for you!

I am trying to be as accurate as possible. Plus I just love learning about the culture.

  20. I am also avoiding any Catholic/Protestant references over there, again I don’t know who I’m speaking to and don’t want to offend anyone.

  21. rifkind said

    Again a GOOD idea.

    Soured ..milk….
I was thinking the other day as I watched ..DIrty Jobs?? .. and they were talking about how cheese is made. At one point they add rennet.. a component from the stomach of a calf.
And I was thinking that something cheese-like may have accidentally been found in the stomach of butched calves…
and then if the stomach was used like a water-pouch… and milk had been put in it, and then agitated by movements as the person travelled… and cheese was the accidental result..
We take all these foods and processes to make them for granted, but somebody had to discover them once.

  22. How true! …and Dirty Jobs, I love that show! It’s so well….dirty! LOL

  23. rifkind said

    LOL!
    Mike Rowe is so funny!
I keep seeing him in the hot springs mud baths!
His sense of humor is what makes the show so great.

  24. It truly does, and some of the things they make him do EEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!

Well I better go try to get something accomplished this morning.

    Chat at cha later!

Hey, Annalaise, if you want some really neat period recipes for food ideas, go to http://www.godecookery.com. (I found a recipe for stuffed porpoise stomach. Maybe not the recipe you’re looking for but amusing to think about.)

I could tell you about my projects but they’d all undermine the popcorn defense and I think I need to hold off on that. LOL! Actually, I’ve got several sewing projects to finish, a ton of crochet projects and some beading projects, and reading up for an SCA project I’ve been working up to proposing.

But getting back to period recipes, I have a Scottish one that might be Irish, too. You saute a bunch of sliced onions in a lot of butter (they didn’t have cholesterol worries back then) and when they’re all caramelized, you top it with oatmeal and more butter and either mix it in and cook until the oatmeal has been cooked or you put it under the broiler just to crisp up the oatmeal topping. It sounds just weird but ever since I made it for an event I’ve been making it for potlucks and people just love it, especially as a side for beef. I’m not sure what it’s called (I could get out of bed and look it up in the cookbook but I’m too busy getting knots out of yarn) but it’s really tasty. (In today’s kitchen you’d add salt and pepper but in a medieval kitchen seasonings might not be as important.)

I love the history blog! I need to check in more often! I’m just so into the email subculture that I don’t get back here often but this has been very educational.

Gypsy: I totally understand the popcorn defense! I don’t like my hands to have anything on them when I’m typing either. I don’t know how people eat chips and cheese doodles and then start using the keyboard! EWWW!

Oh, and Mike Rowe. For those who don’t know this already: *DROOL* 🙂

As far as BT goes: I’m STILL in the crowd of those wanting the show back and sign all the petitions and vote where I can. I miss the them all!

  27. Annalaise duChat said

Gypsy, that actually sound pretty good! I bet the hubby would love it all those carmelized onions. Whenever you get untangled send me the recipe if you think of it and thanks for the link as well. I don’t really need specific recipes for the book but I’m always game to try something new. Except porpoise. No I will not eat Flipper! Sorry.

Hey gypsy do you know anything about midwifery(?) Just curious!

Prfvr — Anytime you want to talk history lady let me know! I’m no expert but I love a good discussion, specially medieval stuff. I was really fascinated with the things the Irish guys were telling me .

Thanks for the props Rif – I’m glad you enjoyed the editing session. Really ‘Lasie I am trying to read your story – just keep getting lost in my own “world” 😦

I finished chapter 29 tonight….these two aren’t going to let me be util I finish…..

well I’m off to check my email and I’ll talk to you latter.!

Love the new pics Gypsy! You and prtfvr are so good at putting clever/funny sayings on pictures.

  30. msgypsy said

Prtfvr is the genius at macros. I’m just a slightly talented amateur in comparison.

There is a concept in Torchwood fandom that I think the BT fanfic writers might want to adopt. It’s called writer-in-a-drawer and now that I’ve read the rules I like the whole idea much more than I did at first. The rules are in the Live Journal community of the same name and the only things I can say are:

    1) I don’t do fanfic so no matter what, I won’t be putting this together for anyone. (I wrote one fanfic, recently, that I’m pretty sure blows chunks; it’s a Torchwood/Sarah Connor Chronicles crossover that I won’t share easily…)

    and

    2) If someone does decide to do this for BT fanfic, be sure it’s someplace Tanya can’t see it. She’s mentioned a few times that she loves fanfic as an idea but is supposed to discourage it per her publisher…

The rules can be found here: http://community.livejournal.com/writerinadrawer/profile

  31. Annalaise duChat said

OMG I love that picture. Makes me smile everytime I visit the blog. Henry, I think I need a stern talking to too!

Wildstar — Stay focused on your own book. Don’t let anything interrupt that creative flow! Chapter 29!!!! You editors better get on the ball and keep up with her. Besides, there will be plenty of time to read mine later when when it’s in print! (Sorry couldn’t resist, got to maintain that positive outlook.) Although at the rate you are writing you’ll probably get there first!

  32. Danae said

    Buongiorno bellas.

I am really not feeling good. I woke up with a feeling that something was gonna happen. Do you ever get that feeling? So my first paycheck of the year got screwed up. They had me down for less then half of what I should be getting somehow they had me working less then 40 hours in two weeks. Um Hello I work 40 hours in one week. I complained and they said they would fix it. My next paycheck was fine but they didn’t give me my backpay. They can’t just cut me a check for my backpay because we use an out of company service for the paychecks. I had several checks that bounced because that happened. I don’t have money for my rent and they shut my cell phone off because of the bounced check which means they shut my moms and my brothers because they are on my plan. I don’t have the money to send to Annalaise’s Paul because I was expecting to get my back pay and didn’t. I don’t know what to do? I am really really scared here. Plus my mom and my brother are probably really mad at me.

  33. Danae said

Oh and because the checks bounced my bank canceled my overdraft protection on top of it. I have nothing to eat for the next two weeks because I don’t have the money to buy it. I was having money issues before this happened but I was able to stay afloat and get food. Now I just don’t know what to do. I have no more Lexapro and can’t get anymore until I make an appointment with my doctor who is out on maternity leave. I feel like I am sinking and have no way of reaching the surface. I think I need someone to tell me it will work itself out and be ok because I really don’t believe it right now.

  34. Danae said

Annalaise Let Paul know I wil get his money to him as soon as I can. As for the other scripts I don’t think I will be able to help out.

  35. Annalaise duChat said

Danae — What a terrible way to start off the new year! Can you speak to the person in charge of payroll at your company and explain just how this screw up has affected your and your credit? Write a letter to the out of company service and CC your human resources person. You know the adage “The squeaky wheel gets oiled?” Squeak girl!!!
I’d keep pushing until it gets resolved. Be polite and courteous but push! You are entitled to that money. Did you get penalized for the bounced check’s? I’d make a point of letting them know that too.

I’m sure your Mom and brother will understand.

Paul’s said he’s not in a real big hurry and can wait a bit.Email me and we’ll figure something out. In the meanwhile stay calm, things will work out.

    ((((((((((hug))))))))))
    Annalaise

  36. Danae said

Thanks I just feel really terrible right now and I can’t stop crying. I’ve said everything I can to this girl. She is the one that wouldn’t do anything about the sexual harrasment that I brought up to her and all the upper people love her so going to them won’t make any difference.

  37. Danae said

And my insuffincient funds penalty just went up to 22 dollars.

  38. Danae said

So when I do get my back pay that is going to pay for all those charges so I am screwed there too.

  39. Annalaise duChat said

Danae — Still what you need to do is go over her head to her boss if necessary. Don’t be negative or criticize her. Kind of make it look like she’s doing her best but you think that maybe her hands are tied and someone with a little more pull could get the job done. Schmooze. Whatever you do be reasonable and don’t alienate the HR person. You will need her on your side. Maybe you need to CC that letter stating you cast to her supervisor as well. Good Luck.

  40. Danae said

At this point I will try anything.

  41. Annalaise duChat said

    Stating yous CASE

  42. Linda said

Ms. G — Love the new pics and the popcorn defense!

Danae — I am so sorry you are having these problems. Annalaise is giving you good advice. Ultimately your payroll dept. should fix things with your bank. It was their error. Does your Dr. have a partner…or nurse practitioner who could help you with your prescription. Since you have been taking it already, I would think someone could renew it, if only temporarily. Hang in there, things will resolve and get better.

  43. Danae said

Yeah I could see her substitute but they all make me feel uneasy. I’m just not sure I want to do that. I know it is a good idea but when the doctor you are seeing makes you uncomfortable it probably isn’t a good idea to go to them.

  44. Danae said

I just talked to my mom. Neither her nor my brother are mad. I know it isn’t really my fault but it just makes me feel worse because I was having problems before this and I can’t help but think that if I hadn’t been having problems it might not have been so bad when this happened.

  45. Linda said

Danae — Girlfriend, stop beating yourself up. Take a deep breath. This is going to pass, hopefully very shortly.

  46. Annalaise duChat said

Hang in there Danea. You’ve got your blog sisters behind you & Henry wants to know who he has to vamp to get this fixed for you!

  47. Danae said

Her name would be Erin Luddecke and tell him I would appreciate it. I don’t know who the people at the outside company is but starting with her would be good.

  48. Danae said

And Linda I am pretty good at beating myself up. I mastered it when I was in high school.

Annalaise I think I like Danea. That sounds pretty.

  49. Annalaise duChat said

He’s on his way! Wait Henry, Wait maybe you better wait until after dark! Whew I caught him in the nick of time. He says he needs her home address. Such a nightmare he’s going to give that girl!

  50. Annalaise duChat said

Ooops sorry. Can’t type fer s#$%$t!

  51. Danae said

She lives in South Windsor I see about giving him her address if he comes by my place first. 😉

  52. Danae said

    No I like it.

  53. Annalaise duChat said

If he does that he might not make it to South Windsor! LOL

  54. Annalaise duChat said

But either way I think you’d feel better!

  55. Danae said

That’ll be fine with me. I will make sure he makes it after I am done with him though. All the guys drool over her and she pays no never mind to it. She needs a little comeuppance.

  56. Annalaise duChat said

    Yea! Comeuppance!

  57. Danae said

Well my mom paid the bill with her credit card and I will have to pay her back but my brother also owes me 81 dollars for his past bills. We are on the family share plan with verizon and he keeps texting his wife in Fla and incurring all these extra charges because he didn’t want the text and pix package on his phone. Now he (me) is paying 15c for each text or pix message he sends.

  58. Annalaise duChat said

See, everything’s working out. So you can stop using yourself for a punching bag now.

  59. Danae said

I am starting to punch less and less. The bruises are still there but other then that I am starting to feel better. Thanks

  60. laurel said

Danae – Absolutely go to someone higher up right NOW!
You also need to se about having a letter written for you to take to your bank so that you can plead with them to back out the OD charges. I know it is possible with some banks because I just did this when our auto-deposit attempt backfired and hubby didn’t get paid at all. The bank cancelled our overdraft protection too, but Hubby’s company made a call and put a teensy bit of pressure on the bank manager to clear it up quick.
If need be I’ll cover your pledge to Paul.
Hang in there sweetie, and see if who ever is covering your doctor’s practice can take care of your meds. By law there must be someone covering for her specifically for this type of problem.

    Blessings

  61. Danae said

Thanks Laurel. My pledge for Paul is all taken care of. I had a nice long talk with Erin and she is going to work on the company about getting my check sooner. I told her I was going to go to the controller if things didn’t ger cleared up soon. She really is a nice person and it is the outside company that screwed it up. All the guys around here just think she is beautiful and God’s gift to them so most of the women around here don’t like her to much.

  62. Annalaise duChat said

So you’re say the Henry threat worked, right? LOL

  63. Danae said

Yes it worked. That vamp is one wonderful dude.

  70. Danae said

Seeing as Himmie’s birthday is Wednesday I will then pass him on to her with a discreet little loin cloth covering his not so discreet little package, birthday weed under one arm, and whipped cream under the other.

I’m baaaaaaack!! Finally! I thought my computer would never see the light of day ever again! Ladies, whatever you do, don’t EVER get a Dell! I have been dealing with this problem for about a month now and it just now got resolved. First of all, you can’t get an American to talk to at customer support, they are all in India with accents so thick you can’t understand a darn word they say. Then, they don’t even know what they are doing in the first place! They sent me a new hard drive to replace 4 different times! None of them worked. Gee, you would have thought that after the first or second one I installed didn’t work that maybe, just MAYBE, its not the freakin hard drive! AUGH! Finally I had to ship the whole computer back to them to fix it, which is what I had requested be done in the first place, but they said they couldn’t do that unless it was a last resort, which I guess after a month of frustration, it finally was!

So, what did I miss? Anything good happen while I was gone? I am not even going to attempt to catch up on the blog or all the emails or google group. Madonna’s been great at keeping me informed of all the big stuff, but I haven’t talked to her in about 2 weeks or so, so I don’t know if anything has happened since then.

When I left, Anzia and Freyja were both job hunting. Have you two had any luck finding anything?

To all of you whose birthdays I missed (and I know I missed a few thanks to Tango’s wonderful little calendar hanging on my wall), Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoyed the birthday weed and of course, your time with Henry!

I missed all of you soooooooooo much! I am so excited about Megacon coming up. Do we know who all is coming? Madonna and Rose are staying with me, but aside from that, I haven’t heard much about who all is coming down. I still have one extra room left at my place if anyone else needs a place to stay. I still need to get my tickets. I haven’t been able to get online to purchase them. Where do I go to get them and when is the deadline to purchase them? And Madonna said something about purchasing something to have your picture made with Kyle or Dylan. Where do I sign up for that, because I definately want a piece of that action!

Well, its great to be back. Hopefully my computer will behave and I won’t have to leave you all again. I’m signing off for the night as I have a major headache, but I’ll be around later this week.

Check your e-mail for the password.

    Cree! Yippeeee! Your back!
We knew you were still out there and having computer issues, but it just isn’t the same without you. I wish I were able to go to Mega Con, but it just isn’t in the cards for me. Breaks my heart to have to miss such a great opportunity.

I got to see Christina Cox die on Stargate SG-1 this afternoon on the Sci/fi channel. She did a good job. Sadly, I knew she was doomed from the minute I saw her. Poor dear.
I’d better go figure out what we’re having for dinner. It’s getting late, even for us.

  79. laurel said

    That should have read –
    Cree! Yiippeeeee! You’re back!

Of course, that leads me to ask how your back is doing these days. I hope you are all healed and moving smoothly.

  80. Linda said

Danae — I’m so glad things are looking up for you. Henry will make it all better.

Cree — So glad you got your computer fixed finally. I know what you mean about Dell. We have one Dell at work (the rest are macs) and I had rather take a beating than call technical support. One time I was having a problem and I called them, was on the phone for an hour, and we couldn’t resolve it. I was going to get someone to come and look at the computer in person. Anyway, this same guy from technical support (yes from India) called me a week later and wanted to go through the whole frustrating process again. Talk about torture. Give me my mac any day.

I am coming to Megacon too! I look forward to meeting you.

(NO! it’s not like reading the last chapter before finishing the book! I seriously got snagged by a word and…well…by the time I knew what i was doing…yeah it was GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD though!)

Okay, anyone else i’ve inadvertantly offended through carelessness and thoughtlessnes I need to set straight. (I’m on a roll here…dani, ‘Laise…no wonder no one wants to hire me as an editor! Damn!)

Anzia — I have not been offended by you (What made you think that?) nor am I rushing you. Actually I’ve been a very patient, good girl and left you alone to do your job. Carry on with my blessing! As I said I”m hoping no news is good news.

…..and I wholeheartedly agree with Laurel. Editing isn’t for sissies!

Oh, and Chapter 15 — I’m almost finished with it, finally! I think you’re going to really like it. It was definitely worth the wait to get it right.

  84. Danae said

Buongiorno bellas. Cree yay! Your back. Now we need to get Dizey and Tango back and where did MamaClaire go this time? Do you think the quads have tied her to a chair and put on warpaint and are dancing and whooping in circles around her chair?

Cree I am going to be going to FLA sometime this year. My parents are going to be taking Amber to Disney and I HAVE to go for her first trip. We have got to hook up when I go. I know talking about this when I was so distraught over money yesterday but it isn’t happening anytime soon and I will be getting my tax refund soon.

Freyja has a job but still nothing for Z.

  85. Danae said

I am feeling better about what I was worrying over yesterday but now I have a sinus infection that is kicking my ass. I can’t wait for spring. I would rather suffer my allergies than I would sinus infections.

It is raining so hard here it sound like it is going to come through the roof.

Chapter 15? Annalaise? Can I read it?

Don’t you you need more than one editor…
    wildstar has two or three…
    I have two…

I’m only editing for a couple of people right now…

Okay, I just want to read the new chapter, what do I have to do to get to see it?

On a different topic… Any ideas on why I was dreaming about riding a train through the Russian countryside last night?

  88. Annalaise duChat said

Laurel — As soon as it’s done I’ll post it and let you know!

  89. elizabeth said

Laurel – you were following up on a cure for your poor poisoned Herald! You had heard rumors about this rare plant that could negate the poison. A train was the only way to get to the countryside because roads are scarse. 😉 BTW, Krysten is thrilled with your story and wouldn’t let me read it until she had. She then hounded me until I put down what I was doing so I could read it and discuss it with her 🙂 I will try to hold her back from nagging about seeing more, but you’ve met her….wish me luck!

  90. elizabeth said

oooh, oooh, and you have to negotiate with a gorgeous Cossack to get the herb because it is a closely held family cure. He may look suspiciously like a tall detective we know, but I am sure you can handle it 😉

  91. elizabeth said

Hellooooo, anyone home?! *knocks on computer screen* You in there???? Anyone? Anyone? *sigh* I guess i will check back later……

  92. lwildstar said

    Hello!
just stopping by in the last few minutes of lunch.
Today is Teaser Tuesday – so check your emails….

    Cree! we’ve missed you!

now if ywe can just find the rest of the vanishing sisters……checks under Henrys bed, humm i was sure I’d find at least one of them under there…?

    Ok back to work!

    Feel better everyone!
    Luv you!

  93. Danae said

I’m here E but the blog seems to be getting less and less crowded with each agonizing second. There is hardly anyone to talk to anymore. It is all done on email now.

  94. Madonna said

    Hi everyone!

I’m out of the sick bed for a few minutes and thought I would stop by and say hello to all my sisters. I too have noticed the slowness of the blog compared to the emails. Kind of makes me sad.

  95. Madonna said

    Cree,

    Welcome back!!! We’ve missed you!

  96. Danae said

Yeah it makes me sad too. This is how we started. Im not able to keep up with the email as well as I am the blog. How are you feeling?

  97. Madonna said

I’m more alert from the IV fluids they gave me last night, but other than that about the same. Thanks for asking. How are you with your sinus infection?

  98. Danae said

I’m ok. It is certainly worse at night when I am laying down. My humidifier doesn’t help to loosen up the crap in my nose. I can’t sleep with my mouth hanging open so I simply don’t sleep. At least during the day I can breath through my nose but I am dead tired.

  99. Danae said

I edited Chapter 1 and put the new version up. Have at it. If you need the password send me an email.

  100. Linda said

    Hi everyone,

Madonna — sounds like you are at home. Hope you will be over this soon.

Danae — I hope you are feeling better soon too. A sinus infection is a miserable thing. I am hoping to read your new chapter one tonight. We are supposed to have severe storms so I don’t know if I will have power or internet or anything later on.

Must go back to work now. Later!

  101. Danae said

Well I hope you enjoy. I certainly feel better about it now that I have fixed several things. Before something about it just didn’t sit well with me.

  102. Danae said

And I totally have Z to thank for that. Time for dance class.

    Ciao Bellas

    Dani- you’re an angel

‘Laise- I’m sorry. I’m grumpy & sick. You’re being very patient and i’m sorry i’m not faster. In school I was SOOO much faster, but only because it was boring school papers i was editing. Didn’t want to read those. This, your stuff, i WANT to read 🙂 I’m sorry i snapped. 😦

I hate this…being sick that is. 😦 Sore throat, coughing, stuffy & runny nose (go figure I’D be contradicting myself) generally crappy tiredness.

  104. Linda said

Goodness everyone is sick. Hope all of you are better soon.

I recommend green tea. I love Sweet Leaf Green tea with mint and honey. Yum! I drink it every day … haven’t had a cold in four years. Don’t know if it’s the tea or I just got lucky. Not taking any chances though…

I promis to try and stop by more often…

but for now I am off …
yes yes off to write some more!

I hope everyone is doing better, feeling better soon….

oh I finally cornered the office manager and asked point blank to schedul my review, so that will be Friday morning (now I find out she was suposed to have done it last month!!!) anyway prospects of a raise are not very high – if I get something I have the feeling its going to be less then what I’ve been getting – the past two years I was lucky enough to get an above average raise – not going to hold my breath this time…

    TTFN!

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone! It is so good to finally be back!

Laurel: My back is much better, thanks for asking. It is all healed, but I still take precautions every single time I have to bend down or over. I am paranoid it is going to pop again. I am so lucky that I didn’t have to have surgery or injections or anything like that!

Dani: I would love to get together whenever you come down to Disney World. It is only 20 minutes from my house, so I’m very close to all the action! Wish you were coming to MegaCon, though!

Linda: I had the same issues with Dell that you did. They would call days later and want to do the same darn things over and over again even though they didn’t work. So frustrating! I am glad to hear you are coming to MegaCon. I look forward to meeting you!

Madonna: Sorry you are so sick. Glad you are feeling a little better today though. Get some rest!

  110. Anzia said

    Cree- welcome home!

    ‘Laise- thanks.

For the foreseeable future…i’m dead. Or at least feel that way. It’s bad when it’s hard work to move your fingers and type. And to top off my day (although i haven’t actually told you about it…just ignore that part) I managed to burn my hand pouring hot water for tea. Kevin, who was running a 102.9 temp earlier and I was watching, causes my hand to hurt so much it isn’t funny! I about started crying taking his temp ’cause the heat he was giving off hurt so bad. 😦 Poor kid. He had a meltdown ’cause he had to go potty but his pants & under clothes were so sweat soaked he couldn’t get them off. 😦 He was screaming, crying, coughing. Just wanted to cuddle him…but couldn’t. Oh, boy does this suck…

  111. laurel said

Okay, I ran off and wrote some more chapters of my own. I forgot to check back in!
Today was cold and rainy and I just put on a pot of tea, turned on some music and wrote. I miss all of us being on the blog and am more than willing to come back to it.
    Count me in!

Cree – Good news about your back! Being careful is a good idea and we want you to stay healthy.
Anzia – Poor Kevin. It is so hard on the little ones when they feel that bad. I’m sorry you got burnt. Ouch.

Annalaise – I’m glad there is more story coming soon. I’m willing to wait for it because I know it’s going to be great.
Danae – You need to get better soon! It seems like you’ve had more than your share.
Madonna – That was just plain scary, having you so sick in such a short period of time. I’m glad the IV perked you up.

Margaret, Linda and lwildstar – let’s keep talking over here and see if we can draw some of the rest back to the fold.

    Hi Everybody:

I just wanted to drop by and say thanks to everybody for keeping up the good fight, we are still fighting on our end too.

Thanks as well for the Valentine Card, it was a nice treat in the middle of the second blizzard of the week (we got 8 inches of snow on Friday, another 7 last night and another 5 coming this afternoon).

As soon as I have any news I’ll let you know.

    Scribble.

    Welcome home Cree!

Anzia, Madonna — both you girls feel better soon! I’m thinking about you and sending positive energy your way.

  114. Danae said

    Buongiorno bellas

Hey Scribble! Glad you liked the card. We appreciate all you do keeping us in the loop.

Cree I will let you know when we decide to come down.

I am so sick and tired of Robyn that works in my department saying I should go cough in the bathroom because it is distracting to her and not to mention very disgusting. She says it in a whisper but I can still hear her. I swear some people are just plain rude. Besides if I ran to the bathroom everytime I had to cough I would never be at my desk.

  115. Danae said

You know I wish we were getting snow. It is so much prettier then the rain we are getting that is causing mini floods.

Scribble glad you enjoyed the card!
Everyone who’s sick…get better soon! I will be M.I.A except for the brief one sentence answers to emails…I’m super busy and had the two girls home with high fevers…I’m in a jewelry making frenzy, since nothing is selling at the shop,my friend has graciously said she would host a jewelry party at her house and invite all her church ladies,my daughters even put up the link to my shop on myspace…nothing selling…argh I was so stoked when I opened the shop, now I’m just blah..so I hope the jewelry party will do some magic for my shop cause I can’t keep buying supplies if I don’t get any revenue.Plus the headache of trying to get a loan to buy this house,so I don’t have to move again in July has taken a toll om my freakin nerves and health,I’ve been having pretty bad palpitations everyday from my mitrol valve prolapse, and the medication makes me a zombie.Anyway life calls…love you all…see yas!

  129. Annalaise duChat said

I hate to say it but it still could have been the result of a drug abuse problem. OxyContin is one one those “legal” drugs that is often abused. It’s usually only prescribed in cases of extreme pain where lesser painkillers aren’t sufficient. Was Heath that sick? Did he have a chronic physical problem? I’m thinking that anything along those lines would have made it into the press by now.

Even though it is a highly regulated drug people find a way to get it. There was recently an article in our local paper about a woman who was arrested for “doctor shopping.” That is going from doctor to doctor to get her pain meds filled way too frequently. Oxycontin was her drug of choice. And though her pain and physical problem were legit, she was also a substance abuser as a result.

Also, any legit and competent doctor would probably have been regulating his prescriptions more closely. That’s a lot of chemicals to mix in one body: sleeping pills, heavy duty painkillers, anti depressants and then over the counter stuff to top it off. He must has been in a lot a anguish in those last few days. Very sad.

  130. Annalaise duChat said

Oh BTW, Hi Danae I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Happy Birthday Himmie — Gots to go write a limerick. Back in a bit.

  131. Danae said

I’m just saying that it wasn’t like all the really bad stories you hear about other celebs. He never appeared to have a problem. I don’t want to think bad of him so I am going to think that he had the prescriptions legitimatly and it was just a case of bad combinations.

  132. Danae said

Thanks today is actually worse than yesterday. Especially with Robyn harping about my coughing.

  133. Annalaise duChat said

The nerve of some people! Sure hope she doesn’t get sick any time soon. Heartless b#$@%h. LOL

The autopsy results don’t change my view of him he was still a talented performer.
It just makes me sad to know he was suffering. Fame is often not worth the price that’s paid for it.

  134. Danae said

I guess I am a little defensive about it because immediately upon hearing it happened my brother and my dad both said oh it’s a drug problem. I just hate that people immediately assume because it was a famous person that died it has to be drugs.

Yeah I hope she gets sick too. Then she might stay home. LOL!

  135. laurel said

Thanks to Scribble for the update! Girl, you keep us going.

Danae, I sure hate hearing that you are still feeling so bad. It might be time to find out about adding a med that will give you a break from the coughing. Poo on Robin for being so unkind. Maybe she is coming down with it and the denial is making her cranky?
    Consider yourself ( ( ( ( Hugged ) ) ) ) !

    Good morning all,

Danae — How ridiculous! run in the bathroom every time you cough? Geez!

Claire — I’ve been wondering about you. Please take care of yourself! I hope your girls get well soon.

Remember you get to celebrate the whole week! Parties at the Betty Ford Clinic have been known to go even longer so grab your birthday weed and come out of your room and spend the evening dancing with a vampire. 😎
    Wear something low cut. hehehe

    Thanks Laurel,

That’s my writer’s assignment of the week to work on imagery. No really, I’m serious.
I’m reading though the book that Rif gave me and that is the current topic. See Rif the book is working.

  143. laurel said

Oooh, what book? Inquiring minds want to know.

I got a good one for Christmas, called “Room to Write” that has lots of little ideas and inspirations. I like it because I don’t feel a need to read more than a page or two at a time. My biggest obstacle to writing is all the really good books I want to be reading.

Oh yeah, figured out my ‘train through Russia’ dream. The new Mercedes Lackey book ‘Firebird’ is set in Russia and is the next thing I plan to read. Guess I must have read the back cover before falling asleep. LOL

  144. Madonna said

    Hi girls!
Still sick but just a smidge better. At least I’ve been out of bed for more than an hour at a time today. I called my boss a little while ago and apologized to her for leaving her shorthanded for a whole week again. She was actually really nice about it. Scares me!

    Himmiefan,
Happy Birthday! Have lots of fun today and enjoy Henry and the Birthday weed. I’m getting ready to send your card to you.

    Scribble,
Thanks for the updates. I’m glad you enjoyed the card. Oh, and take care in the snow although you’re probably used to it.

    Anzia, Danae,
I’m sorry you all are feeling like death warmed over too. Guess we need an infirmary at the Bloody Ford Cinic huh?

    Claire,
Hon, take just a minute or two and do a little deep breathing. It might give you a bit of rejuvenation. Sorry your girls are sick too.

    Arrowyn,
    Are you feeling better?

Hmmm………. I wonder if it’s possible to spread germs via blog? lol…

    Cree,
I’m reading a book that mentions the Canadian Cree. An Indian tribe. Did you know that the Cree were Indians that lived here in the US and Canada? I remember the story you told us of how you got you nickname and it had nothing to do with Indians. Just wondering.

    DIZEY!…….DIZEY!
WHERE ARE YOU?, AND SUSANA AND NINA, And, and about two dozen other sisters. I miss you all! The blog’s not the same anymore.

DANAE, and every other sister who is having difficulties and even to those who are just lurking……
Sometimes it seems like everything that can go wrong does. BUT, It WILL get better! In the meantime, in the words of one of our most favorite people….. “If God brings you to it, He’ll bring you through it.” It’s good advice!

  145. laurel said

    “Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!

I’ll send her an e-card first thing when I get back to work tomorrow!

(bad Elizabeth, bad. How could I have forgotten to get that sent. If I could invent something, some medication to treat procrastination….) Oh, dear.”

If you want a great book that just gives you writing exercises to get the juices flowing this one is excellent:

Although my copy of it disappeared. My daughter took it a while back and I haven’t seen it since….

  149. laurel said

Annalaise – Thanks for the references. Sometimes, when the writing is going slowly, I like to read just a snippit or two. I save my heavy duty reading for really good fiction (and sometimes a romance novel or two when I’m feeling overwhelmed).
I’ll go look these two books up at our local used book store.

Speaking of Rifkind…. Where is she?

  150. Annalaise duChat said

She was over at google this morning.

  151. laurel said

You’re right, I see her name over there now. She wrote several things.
Guess I wasn’t paying close attention, I’m lost in another world, as usual.

Speaking of other worlds, Elizabeth loaned me Zerophilia so I’m going to watch that while I contemplate lunch and other interesting things.

    Later!

  156. laurel said

Oh, no! That is the worst news I’ve heard yet. Oh, Madonna, you poor, poor dear. What can I do to help? I don’t think I have that one on tape, but I’ll check.
    That is beyond horrible!
Did I ever mention that 5:55 is my very favorite? I watched it at least 30 times…

Forget I said that. I took a lot of flack for the number of viewings I admitted to back when it aired. 🙂

    I’m not sorry. 😎

  157. laurel said

Make that – I’m not sorry about all the times I’ve watched it.
I am very sorry for your loss.

  158. Madonna said

That’s OK Laurel. Thanks for the offer to look. I can still watch it during lunch on that dreaded site at work. My mom on the other hand, I guess she’ll have to wait until the DVD’s

BTW… I think you did mention that and you needn’t apologize either. lol…. It was a damn good episode.

You have to love the southern accent bit and the part where he vamps out on the two guys in the office. “SIT DOWN NOW!”

And poor Mike’s part in that one was so sad.

  159. Linda said

‘Laise, honey you have got to see Zerophillia!!

Speaking of that shower scene *fans self* , Laurel may need a cold shower before she goes back to work…

I deleted most of the “1st” season eps of BT off of my dvr thinking that those shows would be re-run in the fall. *smacks head* How stupid was I? I have them on my ipod, but would be nice to watch them on tv again.

  160. Madonna said

A cute little story for those who weren’t there. Still sad about it BTW…. 5:55 was the episode that aired when we were at Claire’s and when Henry said that to the two guys…… Well I believe there was a full round of YES!!!!’s around the room.

  161. Annalaise duChat said

Oh Madonna, I’m sorry! You should have that elsewhere though shouldn’t you?

Danae — You don’t have to rub it in.I know what I’ve missed. I think of it this way, I still have something to look forward to. Yea, that’s the ticket. Anticipation! *she bursts into song* “Anticipation,Anticipay ya tion, I making me wait….It’s a keeping me

  163. Danae said

I remember that fondly. We got all excited over that. Oh baby when he vamps out. My stomach gets tickly just thinking about it. That was a very good episode to air while we were at Claire’s. They were alot of things said during that episode. That weekend has got to be one of my fondest memories.

Man Madonna that sucks. Don’t you have the copies on DVD that Rif gave all of us? Oh wait that was after they were recorded. Oops. I have it on DVD but there is no way for me to burn one for you otherwise I would be more than happy to.

I know I’m sorry Laise but man you have GOT to see it. It is Hot Hot Hot!

  165. Madonna said

I know you would Danae! It’s OK. Like I said I can still watch them on the site that must not be named before work and during lunch. Mom I guess will have to suffer until we get our hands on the DVD’s. COME ON DVDS!!!!!!!!

Yeah a real long time if I look at it that way. If I look at it as the fact I will be 30 it seems like it is right around the corner. I am so totally dreading that day. I don’t become a cougar then do I? Do I have a few more years before that? I forgot what the guidelines were for that. Maybe I will only be a baby cougar.

    Happy birthday himmie dear!

Cree-it’s funny to hear you talk about the Dell tech help. I’ve been on the phone with them and I know what you mean!! It’s sooooo frustrating! Glad your computer is up and running.

All you sistas need to get healthy. Are you taking vitamin C and drinking lots of water and washing your hands???? That’s Dr. Chelli’s free advice!!! 🙂 It sounds like we’re all getting sick and not getting any better. Get well my sistas!!!

Hope things are going better, Danae!

    Hi!

Sorry I didn’t stop by at lunch – but I was having trouble getting into WordPress so I went to the email – the work server just doensn;t like the wordpress site anymore 😦 I miss so much stuff having to wait ill I get home! I’m hoping after the next round of upgrade the problem will be solved..fingers crossed.

    feel better Madonna!

    Dani are you sick too?

Half my office is sick and I’m just getting over whatever I had so I expect to be sick with something again 😦

Well I’m still waiting for the big bad nasty storm we’re suposed to get – so far nothing? Wonder where it went?

small vent session – the new receptionist is getting on my nerves – I can’t peg her down – you know her whole attitude. I know I’ve told her how to do things and then when she does it wrong and I point it out to her she says – that she didn’tknow she was suposed to do it “that way” or whatever…or shes just like ok….
today when I pointed out something she did wrong, and I even said “Well maybe I didn’t explain it so you were clear on the istructions (alphabatizing – how hard is that?) she was like “Ok” turned on her heal and walked away – I had to go after her to make sure she understood she was suposed to take time this week and correct it! and I KNOW I explained it plainly – we have files for each client – we produce certificates proving they have insurance – some of the clients hardly ever request these certificates tand their folders are very small – otheres request several a day….I told her “when you file the certificates you look for the client name – showed her where to find it – if their folder has the alpha tabs init that means there are so many we have to alphabatize them by the certificate hold – find name here – if the folder does NOT have alpha tabs in it you can just put the certs in it….I found a file WITH ALPHA TABS and shes sticking all the certs for that client in the front of the file – not alphabatizing them and says she didn’t know she was suposed to! WHY would I have just said “file these” with out giving directions? thats not me – most times I OVER direct…
and then her attitude this morning walking away from me pissed me off….this is the second time shes done something like this – the first ws never checking the voice mail and when I asked her why she said I never told her too…ok fine but wouldn’t you have questioned a light blinking none stop on the phone? ggrrrr
the topper was the day she opened a lter marked Personal and Confidential – she even date stamped the letter!….the person to whom the letter was addressed came to me to complain – I told her to complain to the receptionist….the next day she did the same thing to someone else!!!!
I’m trying to figure out the best way to bring this up to the office manager – becasue now I’m worried about the other things shes been doing – I don’t have time to follow her around…oh well – thank you for letting me vent….

    off to check my email!

  185. lwildstar said

My machine has already eatten one tape and two others are running pretty thin so cross your fingers that I have a copy in good condition…I’ll email you when I get a chance!

well its getting late so I’m off to bed! Luv you! eel better everyone!

Tanya’s last blog entry (for Deep Dark) is up at http://andpuff.livejournal.com/143766.html#cutid. Haven’t finished reading it yet, because I first had to hurry off to tell you all about it.

  187. rifkind said

    Hi Gals,
Work has been an absolute zoo… and it looks like I will be doing overtime to keep up with the work. I can hardly keep up with the emails, and had slipped on reading the blog. Sorry.
Trying to keep up during the day at work is difficult, as I am not even taking a ‘real’ lunch break. I eat at my desk and try to catch up on reading the emails between bites.

    Annalaise,
I am so glad that you found the book helpful.
As I looked for books for you, I really liked the subjects of each chapter. It wasn’t until I had decided to get it for you, that I realized that it was a condensation of the BEST of the articles in Writer’s Digest.

    Laurel,
I bought a book for you too about character development, since your stories tend to be character driven rather than plot driven. I am reading it so that I could see how it might help with writing, and it doesn’t impress me that much. *pouts* it is definitely NOT the best book .. I was hoping to finish reading it before I send it out to you… but I haven’t had time to even breath lately! So SOMEDAY a book will appear at your door, but like I said, I am not too impressed with its content. Bummer, because I was hoping to find a great book for you and your style of writing…

    Anzia,
On Editing… Here is my trick Honey If you are wanting to enjoy the story and are having trouble “reading for pleasure” and “being in edit-mode”

This is what I do anyway:
I read the chapter the first time, just to enjoy it and see where the story leads.

The second time I read it, I am looking for story continuity and inconsistencies.
WildStar has been gracious enough to allow me to ask clarifying questions and suggestions, and she makes her tweaks and sends the chapter back to me…

Again I read the new version and see how she’s added a few lines that make areas of confusion, crystal clear. If I see anything obvious, I then highlight the text and keep on reading.

The NEXT reading is a combination of spelling, grammar, word choice edits, and a few final questions or clarification suggestions.

I end up reading WildStar’s chapters at least 4 and usually more times…
I do it this way because I absolutely LOVE her story.. Hee Hee..
It is NOT the way that a commercial editor would edit a story, but I find that being able to go through it in different ‘passes’, allows me to edit with a different focus each time. If all you are looking for is misplaced commas or spelling errors, the story continuity questions may not be asked.. plus you don’t get to focus on the STORY, you end up looking at grammar rules instead.

I was lucky that my local internet company was my ISP, and they were wonderful and helped me get the problems resolved. I was NOT impressed with the lack of assistance from QWest.

I might be able to help you with the overwritten 5:55, but can’t promise it too soon. My weekdays and evenings are so busy these days. I MIGHT be able to breath next weekend.

    Danae,
    You get bettertoo!
I agree with the other blogerini that you will have push back and get those fees and charges reversed. If you can get some documentation from your work and the payroll vendor, and take it into your bank, you should be able to get to a supervisor who can reverse the charges. Keep pushing until you get to a level of supervisor who CAN help you.

As I read your messages today, I was struck by the fact that if you USE your overdraft protection, the bank then closed the overdraft account… HUH??? Well then WHY even have the overdraft account?? Isn’t that what it is supposed to be used for? It doesn’t seem to be good customer service to me.

Please don’t let this slide, you need to push and get them to reverse it. and then put your comments on file at the credit bureau(s)
    What a mess!

Rif and everyone else I just wanted to say thank you for the support and advice. I am doing what I can to get this fixed. Erin is looking at getting some documentation to take to my bank but I decided something. I am going to change banks. I have been with this bank since my parents opened my first account for me when I was a kid. I think I am going to switch to the American Eagle Credit Union actually. They have a very low minimum to open accounts. The interest rates on savings accounts are higher and on loans lower.

  193. rifkind said

    Danae,
You might not want to switch banks completely until you get all this mess straightened out. Right now they have a CUSTOMER to try to please.. if you pull your accounts and THEN demand that they fix things, they have no reason to help you..

Here is Tanya’s blog link, I don’t recall seeing anything about anything more written than Tanya quoting Eonline’s Watch with Kristen’s “Spoiler Chat”, and Kristen saying that TPTB were shopping the show around at the NATPE conference, a major TV-biz event in Vegas..
It might be that something did come of the conference… I HOPE SO!

Rifkind — It truly is a tremendous book . I’ve been too busy to read it straight through but I’ve gotten something I can use out of each chapter so far.

My latest enlightenment does have to do with using different levels of imagery to describe a scene. How once you have exhausted all the common, most obvious descriptive words like “his eyes were palest blue” blah. blah, blah then you can move on the words that evoke differant senses than normally wouldn’t be used to sense the object EX: His eyes were grey, cold and hard as steel, etc.. I do this intuitively to some excent, but I need to be more conscious of controlling it. You can really manipulate mood through this technique. It can also be used to help you stay in your point of view character. You see through their eyes notice what they notice etc.

The book suggests a an new assignment for you writer’s journal. Everyday you should notice something, some small detail of daily life it doesn’t have to be different or profound, although it can, and record it in your journal. The goal is to use imagery to paint a visual picture of the thing/event. It’s not as easy as you’d think. I think of it as an artist doing studies of a subject and when the time comes that you need to use that item/event in your work you have already thoroughly explored it.

    Good stuff!

Rif – Don’t worry about not sending that book any time soon, I have such a stack of things to read that it would be a while before I’d get to it anyway. I need you ladies creative ideas here. A large wolf has suddently shown up in the story I am writing and I need a name for him. His pelt is silver with black tips. i want something a little mystical….any ideas?

  213. lwildstar said

Ok – I’m going to have to pull out my Elf Quest books for inspiration!

  214. lwildstar said

ok the in the Elf Quest books the wolves are named in most some cases for either something that happened to them that was a either a high point or lowpoint (as in the case of Briersting – he got caught in a briar patch as a pup) or they are named for something personal about them – take Choplicker…or Blackfell (black fur)….Nightrunner…you get the idea…..

so maybe he could be something like Silver Cloud or Storm, Black Frost……or pick a mundan name and look it up in a differnt language….

  215. lwildstar said

ok – off to work on my writing…..and check the emails!

  216. rifkind said

    E
What kind of personality does the wolf have?
Is he friendly, and a protector of the protagonist?
Or is he threatening, or shy, or???
That will help determine if his name should be something like Storm, Spirit, or Shadow.

Just dropping by. It is late on a Friday afternoon, less than a half hour until I can leave for home. Just thought I’d pop in to the blog on a computer that won’t die when I visit lovely Ms. Gypsy’s!

    ~Freyja

Hey Freyja! Good to see you here!

Debi? Oral presentation on Dr Who? Spill girl, we want details!

    Or you can call me…

Rif- I usually do multiple read throughs anyway. First time for story/ minor grammer things, second time for everything else…or third or fourth. That’s not my problem. I just don’t have enough time to re-read ‘laises entire novel twice so i’m trying to do it all at once and everything else it’s- it’s kinda impossible actually. who’d think that not having a job would actually make me busier than HAVING one…*smacks head against wall*

Madonna- hands fine now. ^_^ Just VERY sore for a day or so. I hope you’re feeling better!

That’s all i can say for now. Sean is about ready to tear my computer apart to get to my internet card. *sigh*

  240. msgypsy said

Hey, Laurel, if Debi calls you to explain that one, please let me know. I’m dying to find out. (And, yes, I AM two episodes ahead of you right now. It’ll be one by tomorrow night. I’m being semi-good, though, and only watching the early episodes on my mp3 player. This way, when it comes on BBC America, I can feel like I’m seeing it for the first time.

But you’ll need hankies tomorrow night.

Anyone not following Torchwood can just ignore me.

  241. Annalaise duChat said

Oh Anzia, If its too much for you I’ll understand. Don’t kill yourself to do it!
I can always find someone else when I’m all done. It is rather lengthy!

  242. laurel said

I’m having company this weekend and don’t know that I’ll get to watch Torchwood or Dr Who. Yikes. That is unacceptable.

Thanks for the hanky warning, Gypsy. (No explanation from moonbeam, yet).
    I’ll let you know.

  243. lwildstar said

    morning!
so isn’t today suposed to be the Blood TIes marathon on the “no one can get” network? LRW network…. is anyone gong to be able to see it?
Over at LT (yes I checked over there) they are posting comments under Making Mr. Right – about how wonderful Christina is in Blood Ties…hint hint.hint…should you wander over there…
well off to spend the day with my parents….

  244. laurel said

    I don’t get the LRW.
I called and e-mailed Comcast and they explained that they are buying a wide range of programing and channels and felt that they had reached the appropriate saturation point with the market share drawn in by Lifetime.
Since we get both Lifetime and Lifetime Movie I guess I see their point.
    Too bad though.

Hey, didn’t get home until way after nine last night since the carnival and have to get geared up for the memorial for my sweet Sarah. She was one of those kids that wasn’t supposed to live to see kindergarden and made to 17. Surprise passing to everyone since she was really thriving and living life to the fullest. The service is in the school gym, hopefully with some of the decorations still in place!

As for the Dr. Who speech! Very impressive! included a poster board complete with a description of all of the characters, past and current. Discussed storylines and included antedotes engaging the audiences with her enthusiam and poise. Numerous students seemed very motivated to go forth and discover Dr. Who as a result of this speech.
Then they discussed the different cable avenues and/or dvd purchases that may be possible for seeing it.

It was fun to score her speech! She did a fine job in all of the require benchmark areas and earned an Exceeds in couple. Pretty terrific 5th grader! I told her that I’d be telling my bloggn’ sisters about her wonderful speech!

Finally, the cupboard doors are being put back on from when my stove was installed!!!!! in January that was supposed to be in Dec., ah…how I love having 4 complete burners and a functioning oven!

Wish I got LRW………sigh…….I’m going to need it this afternoon……..

  246. laurel said

Hey sis – (moonbeam) call me when you get back. My folks aren’t here yet and we’ll be busy this evening since we’re all going to the musical at the High School, but I will drop everything if you need to talk.

  247. Chery said

Thanks MoonBeam! We can really relate!!!!

  248. laurel said

Okay, did everyone decide to take the day off? I guess I didn’t get the message. I’m going to do a little writing this afternoon and shop with my folks after lunch.

    Happy Sunday!

  249. msgypsy said

I’m not so much taking the day off as I’m trying to convince myself that the sewing project sitting on my table needs to be done before I leave for the baby shower. At this point, the computer is winning the tug-of-war for my attention, though.

Laurel, did you get to see Tear-jerker!Torchwood?

  250. Linda said

I just saw the two hanky Torchwood. Loved it. I also liked the one where Owen fell in love with the WWII lady pilot. So sweet and sad too.

I thought Dr. Who was sad too. The one where he takes Martha to New New York.

On top of all that I am so bummed that I don’t get LRW to see the Blood ties marathon. Waaaa!! I think I will go send them another email to let them know my displeasure.

  251. Danae said

Buongiorno Bellas I am a little late signing on this morning. Had a meeting to discuss new procedures that took up most of the morning.

Amber spent the weekend throwing up. It was the first time in her 5 years that she has ever thrown up. She just sat there looking at me and my mom like what the hell just happened. She was so good about it. She didn’t even cry even though it scared the living daylights out of her.

  252. lwildstar said

    Hey i made it!
nope I didn’t get to watch the marathon either – and i couldn’t find anyone I know who had that LRW network – out Comcast doesn’t carry it – we already carry two LT networks was the response I got…

well I am going to go check my emails now!

Dani – I hope Amber feels better soon – poor little thing! I sent her a V-day card with yours…enjoy!

  253. Danae said

Thanks and she is feeling better. Friday night is when it started and she was still not feeling great yesterday morning but by last night she was fine. She slept most of Saturday which I must say was a Godsend.

  254. Madonna said

    Hi ladies!

How are you all? I’m doing much better than last week. Still a little congested but otherwise back to normal.

    Danae,
I’ll bet that was scary for her. Hopefully she is feeling better soon.

I was just over reading the lt blog and it looks like What Girls Learn, one of Kyle’s movies from when he was really young is on tonight on lifetime at 9.

  255. lwildstar said

    hi!

just checking in…how is everyone doing?
Glad to hear you’re felling better Madonna!

ok so I broke down and whatched Christinas movie – Mr. Right on the network that shall remain nameless – and it was ok – I really liked her charactor – I could sse some of Vicki in her so that begs the question, how much of Christina is part of Vicki?

    TTFN!!!

  256. laurel said

    Parents still here.
    Going slowly crazy.

    Maybe not all that slowly.

  257. Dani said

    Good Morning Blood Ties land.

I think we need something to spice the blog up. A total of seven comments yesterday and nothing until me today. Seriously ladies important people do keep an eye on things here and they are going to think that interest is waning. Now I know we know it isn’t but they don’t. TPTB can’t keep an eye on the emails we send back and forth. I’m not talking about laying your life and troubles on here but posting a few messages now and again to show the interest is still there.

Madonna you are starting some sort of contest to boost the blog. I was wondering if there was something I could do too. I was thinking maybe keeping track of the number of comments each of us accomplish and the one with the most comments gets a prize, maybe the first of each day gets a prize and maybe carrying it out for a week or two. I’m not talking about the piddling one word posts. Those can’t count or the wise guys might start doing only one word posts to boost there comment level.

What does everyone think about this?

  258. laurel said

I’m here! I’m still willing to blog and speak fluent Blood Ties! I intend to have my own personal BT marathon as soon as I have house and TV to myself this afternoon. I’m thinking to start with “Love Hurts” or maybe the “Ice/Fire” set and work my way to at least “5:55” .

Okay, there is a Jake 2.0 marathon on today so I may be watching BT and Taping Jake. lol
Ah well, I can type and watch at the same time so…

    How is everyone this morning?

  259. Dani said

I know some of us die hards won’t let the blog die. I was hoping to give it a boost by doing this.

  260. Dani said

I wonder how successful TPTB were at shopping BT to other networks at that con in Las Vegas.

  261. Anzia said

Laise- I’m gonna do it. It’s just not gonna be done immediately. Wish i could print the thing out and send it to you THAT way. That’s one of the other biggies. ^_^ I can’t take it with me when I get in teh car. 🙂 I WILL do it. I promised I would and so it WILL be done. Don’t worry about that.

Dani- I’m glad to hear Amber’s better. Kev was doing that a couple of weeks ago and he CRIED only when bent over the toilet. Immediately after he was done, no tears. Very weird. But he’s never NOT made it to the bathroom…I’m tellin’ ya…weird child.

Wildwoman- I saw that movie too. LOTS of Vicki in that part. It was interesting to see her as something else…and they need to steal her wardrobe from that movie and use it on BT. She had some NICE clothes!

So, who’s all for raiding PrtMama’s office and burning her witch of a boss at the stake? I know I can’t be the ONLY one…

  262. Dani said

Oh I’m there. That woman seems to have some big time issues.

  263. Madonna said

    Hi guys!
I’m around. I just work in VERY open air environment and it is really hard to blog without being caught. If I do get caught it’s out the door for me.

I’ve been up since 5 this morning. We have one heck of an ice storm going here and I got up early so I could make it on time.

I’ll try to check back in when I take a break.

  264. Dani said

I can’t believe you actually went to work in that case. It is heading my way and I totally intend to leave work early today if it even thinks about getting really bad. I don’t care what anyone says. It isn’t worth risking my life.

  265. Dani said

And I know you have been out because you were sick. Maybe you could have gone in late. I just don’t think it is justifiable when the weather is bad.

  266. Madonna said

Our street was completely ice covered but the rest of the roads were more or less wet and slushy. It is supposed to continue all day though.

Did anyone watch What Girls Learn last night. It was actually a pretty good movie. Not the feel good movie of the year though. Kyle played such a sweet character, although they had him smoking in the movie.

  267. Dani said

I didn’t watch it last night. There was a Jericho marathon on Sci-Fi so I was watching that. I had seen What Girls Learn several months ago. It was a good movie but it isn’t my type. Kyle did a good job in it and had a great role. I loved his accent in it.

  268. Himmiefan said

Hello everybody!! I’ve been busy and havne’t been by in a while, but I’m back! Still in BT withdrawal….

Madonna – honey, ice storm means stay home!

  269. lwildstar said

aww i missed the movie! dang nabit…oh well i’m sure they will show it again. I Think it may be the only Kyle movie I haven’t seen at this point….
Mailed out post cards! is there another address? I m=know i have a list – but I keep losing it in my piles of papers on my desk at home (all my writing research has gotten out of hand)

Its snowing lightly here – but they are calling for ice – I hope that either it holds off or I can get a ride home!

its getting much harder to sneek over during “work hours” so don’t be surprised if you only see me now at lunch…..

Off to check emails – I’ll try to come back and visit – if not beofre lunch is over then tonight…

  270. Dani said

It isn’t supposed to start until a little later for us. It is nice to know that it is passed by my friends first. Not that you get it before me but that it has been in the presence of you guys before it gets to me.

  271. Dani said

You guys didn’t noticed that I changed my name.

  272. Dani said

I’m not going to expect prtfvr to visit here. She has too much to worry about right now.

  273. Annalaise duChat said

Anzia –This was supposed to be a fun project for you. It doesn’t sound to me like you’re having fun. It sounds like you’re getting stressed. The last thing I want to do is cause my sister undue aggravation. Please don’t feel obligated to continue, I can always find another editor, but I’ll never find another wonderful blog sister like “Z”. No biggie. Don’t let it bother you another minute. I still owe you a box of chocolate though!

PS: I’m with you on the witch hunt. I’ll bring the matches! No one messes with mt sisters and gets away with it!

Madonna — Sounds like you’re getting the same storm that we are. It’s been blizzarding here all day. I am not looking forward to the drive home!

Later ladies! Have a great day.

  274. lwildstar said

I’m sorry Dani – I’m just so use to calling you DANI – I didn’t notice! Ha!

well lunch is over and I only just made back!

    Postcards! Postcards! Postcards! don’t forget…….

TTFN my loves – i espect it will be after I get home before I can stop in again….really you know I am praying for the kind of snow stome that keeps the office from opening tomorrow – won’t get it – but theres always hope!

    🙂

  275. Dani said

I wasn’t looking for apologies I was just wondering who would notice and who didn’t. I don’t usually do drastic changes not that changing my name is but just once I would like to be noticed for doing something against the norm. I am always doing the norm and when I go against it no one notices. I guess it bugs me a bit.

  276. Dani said

And I wish I had the strength to tell Z I will find someone else. She is so good at kicking my ass to make my story better I don’t wanna find someone else. I noticed that she might be getting stressed about it and not having fun doing it. I would rather her enjoy my story instead of fixing my story. Does anyone want to maybe take up the task? Wildstar does alot of the correcting with spelling and grammar etc but Z tells me what needs to be done to make it a richer story.

    New topic is up.

I just couldn’t resist making this one

Macro was inspired by one that I can’t find now, but it would be appreciated by all the Torchwood fans here once they’ve seen next Saturday’s episode. I’ll share it then. (It, of course, was inspired by the infamous cat macro found here: http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/jesus_christ_its_a_lion.jpg.

    Carry on.
