I know you all think I’ve deserted you

But I haven’t, not really. I tend to wander into worlds far flung and different from one another and sometimes I stick around a while. I’m still lusting after my Blood Ties and loving my Blood Sistahs.

And to prove it, here’s a new macro.

As usual, if something on the blog needs my attention while I’m wandering in other worlds (lately it’s been Cardiff*, but I took a little side trip to London*. Swept through the moons of Rigel* on my way back, and had to stop off in Philadelphia* because without cheesesteak there is no life…) you can email me directly at ms.gyspy@gmail.com or, if it’s REALLY urgent and it’s during the week, have one of the Portland Gang email me at work.

And now, in the immortal words of Tim Gunn…

Carry on!

Good for you Deb. Isn’t oddly enjoyable being the first?

I have to go home so I can get some rest before I have to take Johnathan to basketball practice. At least I have a great little movie waiting for me at home from Blockbuster. You may have heard about it. It stars this great up and coming actor named Kyle Schmid. The movie is titled Zerophilia and I hear it has this absolutely wonderful amazing shower scene that’s all about Kyle. HEHE!

    Ciao bellas.

P.S. I will try to get more sleep tonight. If I get more bad news I won’t though.

There’s a fun topic in the Bloodlines forum entitled “Lingering Questions”. Script Sandy posted some answers, including one about a lengthy discussion with the writers.

ok went to the link – some of those answers were funny! I hope there are notes like that in the scripts…

Ok heres a question? Which episode has Henry in the bar with Vicki – the one where he eats the olive? It would be interesting to know if he was suposed to eat the olive, or if Kyle just threw that in…. 😉

    Hi ladies!

Well we’re getting our ice storm. We’ve got another 3 inches of snow and on top of that we have about 1/4 inch of ice SO FAR. It’s not supposed to stop snowing and icing until late tomorrow morning. Don’t know if the roads will allow me to go to work tomorrow or not.

It’s 9:20 here now and I’m going to bed so that I can get up at 5am again in the morning. On purpose this time.

    Wildstar,
I believe that was Love Hurts. It was the first one they filmed and Kyle didn’t know that Henry didn’t eat regular food. I think it’s just considered an oversight.

Goodnight ladies. Sweet dreams to you all. Extra sweet to those who really need it. Love ya!

  10. Anzia said

Wildwoman- Love Hurts (yeah, i know it’s already been answered- just had to show that i know it too. ^_^)

‘Laise- not for anything stupid. I was thrown out b/c I missed too many meetings. Thing was, my oh so incredibly stupid step-father had tried to catch a falling piano and cracked a vertibrae in such a way that his spinal cord was wedged into the very corner of the crack. He was in physical therapy for months & was warned that any major movement could cause it to be severed. SO, like a good daughter, I was at home helping as much as possible. AND the GS leader stopped telling me when meetings were. So, when I found out, I went to one and was told I was no longer welcome. They made me sit in the cafeteria where they were having the meeting until it was over & my ex-GS leader talked to my mom. Who was furious, understandably. But…nope. Nothing major. Just a GS leader who was a jerk. My mom explained what had happened and the leader said she didn’t care. I had showed a significant lack in loyalty to the organization and such characteristics were not wanted. So, I was kicked out. Go figure that I’d be the one who would find a way to have that done huh? ^_^

  11. Himmiefan said

Hey Anzia. That’s terrible! Sounds to me like you were actually doing Girl Scout-type stuff by helping your step father. If I were your mom, I’d be furious too.

  12. laurel said

Hmmm Gypsy, I have also been visiting Cardiff but went through Valdemar on my way there. I’ve also been to New-New York and listened to The Face of Beau (at least that was what I think he said his name was).
I must have just missed you. LOL

  13. DebS said

The Face of Bo! Ha! Love it. Ah, Captain Jack. 😉

Z-What a terrible GS leader. People like that just don’t have a clue about what is important in life. You were being a better leader than she was, that’s for sure!

One of my colleagues just got back from a conference in Portland. He had nothing but rave reviews about Portland. He said, I MUST visit Portland asap. I kept saying, “I am trying! I am trying!” 🙂

  14. Annalaise duChat said

That’s not a very “Girl Scout” Like way for the leader to behave. I’m sure if you had complained to your local council she would have been disciplined. I was truly amazed when I first started being a leader how many rules and regulations they have. Tha was one of the big issues with my Junior troop.
Smae of the Mom’s who had younger daughters wanted them to be able to join the troop as well. I personally wouldn’t have had a problem with it but the council wouldn’t allow It unless I trained to be a Brownie leader as well. I had enough to handle that first your with the Junior Troop, and she wasn’t willing to take on the responsibility. I had some real nasty Mom’s that first year. The second year my co leader moved and I couldn’t find anyone to replace her, so I disbanded that troop and joined up with an existing troop as co-leader. That worked much better for me. I got to have all the fun without having to take the flack from the Mom’s. I’d still be doing it today if my daughter was still interested. It was a good creative outlet for me.

Buongiorno bellas. Here I am at work while Storm Destiny rages outside. I love the name by the way. I wouldn’t have come in if I had done my work yesterday but I didn’t feel like it so I have to do it today. I will most definitely leave early though. I was going to go see Alli but I don’t see that happening.

  16. Dani said

Z that GS leader should have been canned. What a bitch! I want to know how your stepfather thought he could “catch” a falling piano.

  17. DebS said

Laurel-Would you be willing to loan me Dark Gold? I think I might actually be close to finishing the Carpathian series. Maybe 5 more books to go. The writers strike really got me back into reading. 😉

  18. Dani said

    Sorry Deb! 😦

  19. DebS said

Hey no problem. It is funny that the only book I haven’t been able to find anywhere is Dark Gold, and I mean anywhere. I continued on with the series, but I hear so much about Aiden’s “family” that I want to know the actual story. I need to see which books is after Dark Guardian. I never read a single book about vampires before you guys. I love it!

  20. Dani said

If you go to http://www.christinefeehan.com and click on the Dark Series link she has them listed in order there.

  21. DebS said

I have her site bookmarked…as well as Sherrilyn Kenyon’s. I refer to them quite a bit. I love author’s who have such great and detailed websites. Kenyon’s is my favorite, and Feehan’s is a close behind.

  22. Dani said

They do both have great websites. Lots and lots of info to get into. I hate the ones that are piddling little nothings.

  23. DebS said

me too! I am so impressed by how much time Kenyon has spent on hers. I know she probably has someone do the designing and stuff, but she has written a lot of stuff for it. JR Ward’s website also has extra stuff she has written, although it isn’t quite as detailed of a website.

I just joined a Relay for Life team. Yay! I advise the student organization on my campus, and this year I decided to join a team and raise money along with my job responsibilities. I am quite excited.

  25. Dani said

You will have to let me know how it turns out. We have so many fun things to do at mine. They have different themed hours, contests, a pizza party, a movie and there is a dj there almost the entire time.

    Good morning ladies,

Work has kept me busy, so I missed everyone the last couple of days.

Dani I hope Ali is doing better today. Did you enjoy Zerophilia?

Debs — A good friend of mine works at a hospital was on their Relay for Life Team last year. They won! She is doing it again this year.

I must go exercise. I took today off… I needed a mental health day!

    Will check in later…

  27. Dani said

    As always Zerophilia was awesome.

  28. DebS said

Same here. This is the fourth year that there has been a Relay for Life. I am so proud of my students. Every year they raise the most money out of the six colleges that participate. Last year, Converse alone raised $20,000. This year our goal is to raise $30,000, and for the overall Relay goal is $35,000. This means that the other six colleges together plan to raise $5,000.

  29. Dani said

Good Luck. My team goal is $1000 and the Relay goal is close 300,000 I think.

So, I started getting emails from eharmony again (I haven’t gotten them in ages, so weird). I had stopped going on for about three months. Well, I decided to log back in…perhaps I shall give it another go for the last two months of my subcription. 🙂

  34. laurel said

DebS – yes I can send you Dark Gold. I’ll send you a post when I get back from the post office. I need to leave the computer for a while and think about the weird plot twist my writing is trying to take.

Wildstar – Yup, I’ll be around this evening! I’m going to call Annalaise tonight so I may be sort of multi-tasking for a while.

I FINALLY worked out the bugs in my own story – the one where the main character got poisoned – and it looks like he gets to live to the end of the book. Wheeew! Nasty bit of bad luck he had there…
I’m going to give the first few chapters to Elizabeth in a couple of weeks and see what she thinks.

  35. Madonna said

    Hi girls,

Hope all of you are doing well today.

The ice accumulation wasn’t as bad last night as they had expected. Right now all we are getting is rain but later it is supposed to turn back off to snow. Needless to say, I made it into work. Although I’m leaving as soon as my ride gets here. It’s our slow season so we’ve been getting off a little early the past few weeks.

I’m off to check emails. Talk to you a bit later.

    http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=824d9dca-e61d-4a8d-95d2-40df6c0e434f

Scroll down a little ways to the question from Angelina in Washington DC. Sounds like tentative good news to me. This ought to wake everyone up…

  56. Madonna said

WooHoo!!!!! That news sounds a bit more like it!

  57. Annalaise duChat said

Is anyone else having problems accessing Google Groups today??? Twice today I’ve gotten a message to try back later.

  58. DebS said

I am awake! I am awake! *Jumps up and down, does a little butt shake* hehe 🙂 I am so deliriously tired, that I am a little goofy today.

  59. Annalaise duChat said

Linda — That’s sound pretty optimistic to me!

  60. Dani said

The google group has been telling me messages are not available Im sorry try back later. It is getting really annoying.

  61. Dani said

But Laise I am dying here about our little auction.

  62. Himmiefan said

I just read the Kristin column. Excellent!!! I was scared that it was all over and no one was telling us. Thanks Linda for posting that for us!

BTW, Linda, I know what you mean about the birthday dinners. I had a lot of those too. Like Madonna said, all those meals I didn’t have to pay for!

  63. DebS said

    When does it end?

  64. Dani said

the auction? it has 2 1/2 hours left.

  65. Annalaise duChat said

Dani — No news yet, just good vibes. I’ll keep you informed. I’ll post things here if I have too.

Debs — Love the * butt shake* LOL! I did one too!

I am sending positive energy to Paul.

Madonna and Himmiefan — Most of the birthday dinners are paid for… It seems like by the time I have celebrated with everyone, all I do is eat all week!

  70. Madonna said

Well, DebS and Linda are shaking their butts and Dani is having heart palpitations…..

The blog sounds more alive than it has in days.

  72. Hey Ladies!!! We now own Heart of Fire!!!!

  73. Linda said

Woo Hoo!! *jumps up — shakes butt again*

    Dani, is that angina?

  74. Dani said

no it is Italian for heartburn basically I think. I hear all the italian guys talking about having agida. maybe it is ageda.

  75. Linda said

Gotcha — it was definitely heartburn there at the end..

  76. I used to date an Italian. I knew exactly what she meant!

  77. Dani said

Hehe Do you know if I spelled it right?

Does anyone know a good website where I can find Gaelic/Celtic/Irish terms of endearment and there translations? Babel fish doesn’t have the option for either of them.

  78. Hi Dani,

Visit my buddies at the Irish Gaelic Translation Forum. They were a big help to me. You’ll have to sign up though.

    Buongiorno bellas.

The google group hates me lately. It appears I have been blocked from receiving any emails. I got one yesterday and none today. I am set up for digest emails and got maybe 5 a day. I know it isn’t possible that there isn’t any being done.

I have this stupid training session from 2-4 today and then we are all going to an early dinner paid for by one of our suppliers. I really really hate going to dinner with the people I work with because A) we always go to a high scale fancy restaurant and I feel very out of place and uncomfortable B) my co-workers always tease me because I don’t say much when we go, I am too quiet and shy. I’m in the office but when I am taken out of the office with these people it is different. I really don’t want to go.

  88. Himmiefan said

Hey Dani. A couple of years ago, my office brought in a motivational speaker who was really, really good. No fluffy mumbo jumbo stuff. He talked about how our thoughts really do make a difference in our actions. He noted how if you think things like, “I am confident, I’m good at what I do, etc.” you’ll feel more confident and act more confident. I can vouch that it works big time. I’m pretty shy and have a tendency to feel not confident. People pick up on these vibes and it can be off-putting. Tell yourself that you’re confident and that you’ll have a good time at the lunch. It should help.

Arrowyn – I want to go to Megacon!!! I can’t *whine, whine*

  89. Arrowyn said

Anne said that you can take pictures at the Q&A at Megacon. At least SOME pictures. Can you imagine all the flashes going off the whole time our guys are trying to talk? They’ll be blind for days! Nonetheless –tough! You ladies who are lucky enough to be going, please, please, please take many, many pictures. And notes. Thank you from all of us who are going to be waiting at home for you to return — and will mob you the minute you post!

  90. Arrowyn said

I almost forgot! On Tanya’s LJ, she lists 5 cons she’s going to be guesting at in 2008 and one maybe in 2009. The only reason I mention it is that 3 are going to be in the States — Denver, Colorado (8/6-10); Columbus, Ohio (9/26-28); and Coralville, Iowa (10/31-11/2). Does anybody live close to those places? Also, she mentioned that 9/26 is her birthday and she’s “hoping for cake”.

I live about 2 hrs southwest of Columbus, but I doubt I’ll be going. Too bad she isn’t going to the big one they have there the weekend after Thanksgiving every year. My dad always goes to that one and it would be easy to pop up there then.

  93. laurel said

How many are going to Mega Con? I wish I could go with you all, but there is no way. Ah, well. The many will live vicariously through the few. 🙂

  94. Margaret said

I’m going but then again I have to, they’ll almost be in my backyard. I wish I could go to Megacon with you guys

  101. Linda said

    We will do that Dani…

How did your dinner go last night?

  102. Dani said

It was pretty good surprisingly. Maybe there were enough people there to keep the focus off of me not saying to much. There must have been 12-13 of us. We didn’t go to a fancy schmancy swankified place thank God. We went to a really good barbecue place.

  103. Linda said

Oh good. I am glad it went better than you expected. That’s the way those things are sometimes.

I know what you mean about the lunch/dinner thing….last year one of the carriers invited us out to lunch at a fancy place – i was so uncomfortable – they even ordered pink champagin! here I am with an ice tea…I managed to stay out of the conversationfor most of the meal until towards the end – turned out to be a two and a half hour lunch because the place cooked everything individually including the pasta (most places keep the “base” ingredients in steamers) I couldn’t wait to get back to the office…I have only gone “for drinks” once after work and to dinner one other time – but that was becasue it was a thank you for a project and someone drove me home.
I get all nervous and shy when I go to those things – as those who went to the party at Clairs will tell you – I can be very quiet at times when in groups……
but I love you guys! strangly enough I felt very comfortable with all the nuttyness going on that weekend! Can’t wait to get to Laurels this summer! I’m also scared to death – but excited!

So off to vote to return blood Ties to the air…..I’ll check the numbers tonight and email them with the voting links……off to check emails and try to get some writting done….

And all I’ve heard today from everyone about that place was how undignified it was and we should have gone to McD’s. There isn’t much difference.

The other woman in my department kept saying over and over last night was this isn’t my kind of place. I was trying to figure out what was her kind of place considering she has a 10 year old boy and a 6 year old daughter. I would think the place we went to is a few steps up from McDs or Friendly’s. Good Lord it was a free meal and it was good food. SHUT UP!

    Hi ladies!

How is everyone? I’ve been really busy the past few days and I haven’t been sleeping much. I’m afraid a bout of insomnia is settling in. I hate it so much because you’re too awake to sleep and too tired to actually get up and do anything.

I am getting excited about MegaCon although I still have so much to do.

    Laurel,
I think there are 8 of us going from the blog, 9 if you count BostonDeb. Where is she anyway? Cree, Margaret, Linda, Chery, Heather, Rose, Anne, my mom Ocie and me.

    Chery,
You’ll recognize me as the really short, fat girl.

  107. Dani said

Oh please Madonna you aren’t short and you’re no bigger then me. Maybe you aren’t sleeping because of your excitement.

  108. Madonna said

    Dani girl,
Thanks for trying to make me feel better about it, but I am definitely short, only 5’3″ and I am most definitely bigger than you at 230lbs.

The excitement might be it but I’ve just got a lot of thing rolling through my mind. I’ve also discovered that I’m grinding my teeth day and night so my teeth and gums on the whole left side of my mouth are aching and I really feel that at night.

  109. Anzia said

Dani- if i could just understood why that “man” did half the stuff he did— Why did he try to catch a falling piano…your guess is as good as mine.

Yes, my GS leader was a bitch. I was really upset then…don’t really care that much about it now.

Madonna- I wake up with my jaw HURTING like no tomorrow sometimes. It all depends on how I sleep during the night and how much my TMJ is rearing it’s ugly head. TOTALLY sucks. SO I can totally feel your pain.

    Good morning girls!

How is everyone today? I got some sleep last night….. finally!!! We’re kind of short on work today so I’m hoping to get off work a little early to go do some things that I need to do.

I know there are other American Idol fans on here. Well, I haven’t seen him or anything but I’m right down the hallway from Randy Jackson as I type. He’s at the Fox19 studios doing an interview and he’s supposed to accept an award from Cincinnati’s city council later today for his efforts for the American Heart Association’s Diabetes campaign.

So, keeping in that spirit, I’ll close with this……. See you later DAWGS!!!!!! Love y’all!!!

  113. Dani said

    Madonna that is so cool.
I am saying this very tongue in cheek so don’t take it seriously. OMG 230 lbs, your kidding me that is like ok ok I’ll stop. Think of it this way you could weigh 500 or 700. You’re only 30 lbs more than me and it looked to me like you carried it really well when we met at Claire’s.

  114. Dani said

Oops not cool about the weight, about Randy DAWG! I love American Idol.

Madonna said “Chery,You’ll recognize me as the really short, fat girl.”

Dear Madonna, consider yourself in trouble with me. Negative self-talk never did anyone any good – not to mention that reality is never as bad as how we see ourselves. Go stand in the corner. I’ll let you know when you can come out.

This popped up on my google search. I don’t know who this is, but they are re-capping and commenting on BT episodes. They just posted Deadly Departed. She has some good observations. (I assume it is a she.) Thought you might be interested in seeing it.

  119. Dani said

If I offended you Madonna I am really sorry. I was trying to make you feel better. The part about being at Claire’s is true, in my eyes.

  120. Madonna said

    No worries Dani!

You didn’t offend me or hurt my feelings in the least. It was quite clear you were joking.

I know my earlier post made me sound like I felt horrible about my weight. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like it, but I don’t feel as bad about it as I used to. I have lost a few pounds BTW so I’m probably a little closer to 220 now. I just wish my face and cheeks didn’t look so rounded so I might be able to take a better picture.

Being overweight most of my life, I’ve heard that phrase that I carry it well quite a bit. I don’t know that I’ve ever quite believed it, but I guess if you say it, it must be true, so thanks.

Which leads me to what Henry said about Queen Victoria in Blood Ties…. “She wore it well though. Trust me on that.” Ahhh…. you have to love that vampire of ours.

  121. Madonna said

I’m leaving now, so for those who won’t be around at all this weekend. Have fun!! Love y’all

Dylan’s in a movie today (Saturday), but it’s on a local Portland station, so I don’t know if anybody else will get it. Anyway, it’s called “Cradle of Lies”, channel 12 at 3 pm. It’s a 2006 movie (so he’s not real young, Laurel!) and I think it was originally on Lifetime. Of course, it was! Lifetime loves Dylan’s movies! I haven’t seen it but I read a couple of reviews and they were very favorable.

“I have my green clover deely bobbers to wear, so that I’ll stand out in a crowd, in case anyone from my various boards wants to find me. :-)”

She is the QUEEN of Blood Ties icondom. I told her if she meets up with any of my Blood Sistahs she is to demand (okay, politely request) a hug.

    Good morning!

I had an incredibly busy weekend, and barely got to sit down. When I was sitting I was reading Dark Side of the Moon, number whatever in the DH series. Good, but after Unleash the Night, kind of a let down so far.

Anyway, hope those at Megacon are enjoying themselves!

  133. Linda said

    Good morning!

Like DebS. I had a very busy weekend. I checked in on the blog a couple of times, but that was it. Here I am back at work, doesn’t even feel like I had a weekend.

We are not at Megacon yet, we will be there next weekend. You scared me for just a minute. (I even double checked the dates!)

Madonna, I am so sorry about your haircut. Sounds like it is time to give your stylist her walking papers. Did she think she knew better than you or is she just incompetent?

  134. DebS said

Oops! My fault for some reason I thought it was right now.

  135. Madonna said

    Good afternoon girls!

It was a busy weekend for me too. Over the weekend it was the style demons hounding me, today it is the work demons. There was an update to our database software over the weekend and whenever that happens something is always screwy.

I seldom go to salons to get my hair done. That’s only if it needs to be shaped in any way. The place I had my hair cut the last time closed down so I went to a new place for the first time. Still it’s not like I ask them for anything major. I just don’t think the woman listened to me at all, or cared what it came out like.

The general consensus from my coworkers is that my hair looks “funny”. I asked my supervisor who used to be a stylist if anything could be done and she told me I should go and try to have the layers blended. So that’s what I’m going to do this evening. Wish me luck!

    Everyone have a good afternoon.

  136. Good Luck with the hair Madonna! Have you talked to Cree? Did our shipment make it there safely?

  137. DebS said

Good luck with your hair! I know how frustrating it can be when the stylist doesn’t listen to you, and does a crappy job. ARRRGGHH!!! to the stylist!

  138. Madonna said

    Thanks guys!

    Annalaise,
I got an email from her this morning. No mention of that. I may try to give her a call tonight.

Margaret posted this over on Lifetime’s site. (Why didn’t you post it here too Mags?)

Kyle is supposed to have a small article in USA Weekend (sometime in March), a small magazine that is inserted in the Sunday papers down here. Lorrie Lynch writes the articles (It’s called Who’s News). It’s the very second page of the magazine (it’s kind of like a celebrity news thing) You may or may not get it up north, I’m not sure. Although I think people up north might get Parade.

  140. Linda said

We get Parade here, but I don’t think it is the same as the USA Weekend. Probably will need to buy a USA today to get that article. They may have it online too. Parade has a feature called In Step with… by James Brady that features a celebrity every week.

Hello all – I am looking for a list of who is actually going to Megacon. If someone has a comprehensive list please e-mail me? I think Miggles said there would be nine? I hope that’s right. I have gifts on the way and i did put in a couple of extras.

  142. Madonna said

Ok, so my hair is much, much shorter but it is much better. Not necessarily exactly what I wanted when I walked into that first salon, but it’s a 90% improvement. I went to a Fantastic Sam’s and I finally got a stylist that listened to me.

    Laurel,
I just emailed you the list as I know it.

    Good morning ladies.

Anzia, I feel so awful for Nina. I sent her my sympathies last night.

    Well,
My workstation sits directly below a ’15x’15 skylight. We had heavy rain over night and it is supposed to continue today. Anyway when I came in this morning our ceiling has been leaking. Luckily it’s just far enough left of where my computer sits. Now there’s a wastebasket there collecting the drips until the maintenance men can fix it.

  146. Dani said

Hey ladies I was keeping up with the email yesterday.
Popping in to say hi on here too.

  147. Linda said

    Good morning all,

We have snow here today. Fortunately it has not really accumulated on the streets. Although a few miles north of here, they have about ten inches.

Madonna, I am glad you found someone to listen to you about your hair. An experience like that is so frustrating.

Off to work now, I will check in later.

  148. laurel said

Linda – you have snow, I have rain and flowers blooming. It is damp and chilly here today but at least it isn’t snowing. The weather has been a little unsettled, as is usual for late winter and all of spring. We have hail about once a week when the pressure systems collide just right. It drops the temp 5-10 degrees in a matter of minutes. Brrrrrr. I was out walking last time we had one.

Madonna – I hope the short hair turns out to be a blessing. You sound much happier, thank goodness. It is so awful when the hair does not cooperate.

Elizabeth? Are you out there? What about coffee, or lunch? Name a day!

Wildstar – ?????? I know you’re busy, but . . . Oh, I see you did get the e-mail attachment. Wheeew. Okay, let me know when you’ve had time to read it.

  149. Linda said

Laurel, I know what you mean about the weather…

In spite of the snow our flowers are starting to bloom. A local columnist used to refer to it as our Annual Frozen Daffodil and Snow Tire Festival.

Tomorrow it will be 60 degrees again, then the next day the high is supposed to be 40. I never know what to wear!

  150. DebS said

Good afternoon! I just spent the whole day running around the Upstate of SC in pouring rain. So, not fun. I am looking forward to an evening in with a good book, some tea, and my computer. 🙂

I do like the hair better. Now I’m just going to have to work on the curl and frizz issues.

Is anyone having any trouble with Google Groups? It doesn’t look like there’s been any activity on there since about 3 ET. That’s just not normal.

  153. Wildstar said

I had over 100 emails by the time I got home from work!

Its rainy and icky here – but its been in the 60’s the last two days – its March and my crocuses are starting to bloom – that usually means we’re gong to have a cold snap and get at least one more ice storm 😦

Laurel – printed out you email – will try to read tonight, or tomorrow – am I to edit or just read?

so the one year aniversary o Blood Ties is next Tuesday – what are we doing to celebrate…personally I wish I could take the day off work and run my own marathon – but I can’t do that… 😦

ok I ‘ve some things to do

I had about 110 emails in my inbox this morning. Strange happenings.

  159. Dani said

For any one that hasn’t seen it yet go to the google groups and see my thread Yahoo Group. I started a new group partly to help take the burden off of Gypsys shoulders but mostly to get away from the wretched google group. I haven’t seen that actual email come through to my email yet so I am thinking most of you haven’t gotten it yet. I will also send a separate email with the link.

  160. laurel said

Dani – I’m all signed up even though I don’t seem to be having any issues with google. Weird, huh? I do try to delete everything but the message I’m sending out when I respond to a thread (especially when there are pictures involved) so maybe that’s why I’m not having trouble with it yet.

I still prefer to meet here, whenever possible. It is the easiest for me, but I know it is not so for some of the rest of you. I like sequential reading and writing. Makes me feel more in touch with you all.

Wildstar – thanks for reading that. Editing would be lovel, but I know you have plenty on your plate, so only do it when you have time. I am going to make/let Elizabeth read it too, so I can have her help me with it if you don’t have the time or inclination. 🙂 No worries.

Linda – Torchwood… is it Saturday yet? I need to know what happens next! Say it isn’t so! *sob*
Gypsy – I may be calling to ask you for spoilers! Be warned!

  161. Madonna said

Ladies, they’re killing me at work today.

  162. elizabeth said

Hi everyone! I finally can see the top of my desk…who knew I had so much space?!

I know there has been some conversation around the blog vs. email and I have to tell you I really wish we would come back to the blog. I can manage it so much easier and it doesn’t clog up my email and cause me work issues. I’m selfish enough (yes, I confess) that I want to keep up with everyone, but the email is becoming such an issue I may have to drop out of it. It has truly been such an issue for me that I have had to delete blocks of emails by subject and then empty my deleted folder of hundres of emails at a time from the group! The blog is easier to scan and respond to quickly for me.

Okay, that was my two cents worth 🙂

Ms Laurel – guess what? My boss cancelled his staff meeting tomorrow which means I can meet you earlier for lunch tomorrow. How does 11:30 work for you?

  163. laurel said

E – I could do that! Earlier is fine with me, now just pick a place and I’ll be there.
Congrats on finding the top of your desk! That is always such a lovely moment.

I’m going to have to stick mainly to the blog for a while too. I can keep it on the edge of the screen and it doesn’t ‘time out’ on me. Besides, this is the format that caught my attention initially.

Madonna? Do we need to send in the troops to extricate you from the building? We have a tactical strike force that could come after you! (Just give me enough of a heads-up to get into the super-hero costume. It could take a while, the dang thing keeps shrinking…)

  164. Wildstar said

HI laurel – since I’ll be home the next two days – I’ll read over your story again – and then start edits…is track changes ok for you?

if I didn’t have a contractor coming over tomorrow I would be working in my PJ”s….
Laurel – will you be around?

sorry I’ve been absent from the blog – but until they upgrade my computer (Hopefully this weekend) I can’t get here from work – so lets see how things are on Monday!

    I’ll check back

Thank you love! I’m having a better week, not so blue as last Friday.

  167. Madonna said

Cool Laurel! But we’ll have to find a way to go out the front. Boss’s office is next to the back door.

    Hola mis hermanas!

I am here at work just putzing around. Not good at all. I need more motivation. Maybe I will award myself with my Henry Blow Pop if I actually do work this morning. 🙂

I don’t mind using the blog more…we need to find a way to entice people back here. Thoughts?

I finished Dream-Hunter last night, and justh have to go pick up Devil May Cry. I am only two novels/novellas away from finishing the DH series. I also am picking up to of the short stories she has wrote. Which leaves me only having not read three of the short stories in that series. I am not one to brag, but I moved fast through this series. It helps that it was so good. 🙂

  169. Dani said

Deb both Madonna and I have tried contests to get people back to the blog and I know mine didn’t work out at all. I’m not sure how Madonna’s turned out. Most of the ladies prefer email now. It is more private and they don’t feel so exposed and considering the trashing that we have gotten from certain people I agree with them totally but I don’t think the blog should have been deserted 100%. I don’t mean to upset anyone and get them mad at me. I think at least doing a post or two a day won’t be to much but I really don’t know how things are for them. I’m not too busy to do both but that is just me. If anyone that emails and doesn’t do the blog reads this please don’t be mad at me. I am voicing my opinion.

  170. DebS said

🙂 No problem. I enjoy both the blog and the emails. I am lucky that I can check both while at work…I love my job (most days). 🙂

  171. laurel said

I plan on being here as often as possible. 🙂 No contest necessary.

I can check in a couple of times a day and still get some work done.
I’ll have to get back to my real life for a while – it’s time for spring cleaning to get serious so that I can get some painting done before Wildstar comes out to visit. :0 :-O

Madonna – You okay out there?

  172. elizabeth said

I know initially we started the emails because we wanted a more private venue to discuss an issue we had at the time, but that problem doesn’t seem to be around any longer. I know I rarely visit other sites any more and can’t stand the energy over at Lifetime. It makes me think that we aren’t that important to anyone else right now and the problems we had are no longer applicable. I plan to stick to the blog because I can manage it easier. 🙂

Laurel – How does Zoa Noodle or PF Chang’s sound to you? Let me know your preference (or another suggestion) and I will meet you there at 11:30. I am totally stoked!

  173. Arrowyn said

I just saw this from a Google Alert and got my first laugh of the day. I hope you enjoy it.

You know you’ve got Blood Ties on the brain when…

…you’ve watched endless epis of Project Runway and never realized the prize was a Saturn ASTRA…NOT ASTAROTH.

  174. If privacy is the biggest concern with posting here, that is a problem easily solved. All gypsy need do is password protect her new thread, inform all of us through google groups what the password is, we enter it the first time we visit. The site places a cookie on our computers and from then on it should remember us.

The only problem with that is it also keeps out people we’d like to visit like Scribble, Tanya, Kyle. But then so does the email group.

  175. Linda said

    Hi everyone,

I like both the blog and the emails. They each have their advantages. I will continue to keep up with both. I will try to be more diligent about posting here. The blog is how I got started here, so I am kind of sentimental about it.

A Saturn Astaraoth, you get great gas mileage and demon possession both in the city and on the highway. Talk about a two-fur. LOL!

E — I wish I could go to PF Changs with you and Laurel.

  176. Linda said

I don’t think we want to keep Scribble, Tanya or Kyle out certainly! Scribble is the most likely one to come by. In my fantasy world, I like to think that Kyle might come by, but so far, doesn’t seem to have happened.

  177. Hey guys, remember my idea about International Renew Blood Ties Day?

    Check it out!

It’s starting to happen. Woo Hoo!

  178. laurel said

E -I actually prefer PF Changs. I’ll see you there at 11:30!
Linda – I wish all of us could go to lunch today! And then all fly to Florida for the Con.

Saturn Asteroth! You could warn a girl not to drink coffee while reading the blog!!! Of course, I should know better by now, but I was taking the opportunity to enjoy two things at once. (Coffee and Blog) 🙂

As far as privacy? I guess we just keep in mind that this is a public forum and accept the restrictions and the benefits together. I love the blog!

I am still keeping up with both. I don’t suggest password protecting the blog. I just wish it wasn’t totally forgotten about by some. Call me sentimental but we all started on a blog. Gypsy’s blog is where I first came to realize I was part of this family. I have to admit I had my doubts but those doubts have been erased.

I went and listened to the slice of sci/fi interview with Tanya – from last fall. It was cool to hear her voice and get a little more insight. I’m still listening to Peter Mohan.

    Hi girls.

    Laurel,
I’m around, just trying to finish things up at work before I leave at 4, so I can go home and finish packing.

The Saturn Astaroth? Must be a 2009 model. I haven’t done any ads where I’ve had to use one of those yet. Bet it’s a wicked looking car though.

Ahhh… blog vs. emails….. They both have their benefits and downfalls. The blog is where our family came to be and I love it. The emails, as long as I have time to check them I don’t mind, of course I don’t read the emails I go to the Google Group board to read everything.

My concern is and always has been that maybe TPTB will simply think the love for BT has died because there is so little activity.

Maybe someone needs to post an email to remind the girls that the blog still exists. Honestly sometimes I think some of them don’t even think about it much.

Maybe our blog party on Tuesday will help pick things up a bit.

    Linda,
I don’t know if you remember it or not, but Tanya did stop by for just a moment for Kyle’s and Claire’s b-day party.

  186. Madonna said

I posted this to the emails as well…

As many of you probably know Kyle and Dylan are having a question and answer session at the convention on Saturday evening.

I was wondering… If given the chance what would you ask them?

    Discuss…..

  187. I do remember that. I personally prefer the blog.

Hey Madonna you want to see my magazine? My customer, Ronnie, has started an elaborate web site featuring the 3 magazines he produces. I only do one though, it’s the Arts & Entertainment Magazine. Just a warning though, turn your volume down if you are at work.

Thanks for the link ‘Laise. I just don’t have another break where I can take a few minutes to look at before I did open it and the opening looks awesome. I’ll look at it more thoroughly when I come back to work on Tuesday morning. Why do you get to do all the neat things?

    Dani,
How are Alli and Aiden doing now?

  189. Madonna said

That should say to look at it before I leave work.

  190. I didn’t do all the cool stuff on the site. Ronnie has some freelancers that do a lot of it. I do my share though. There’s some wild stuff in there.

  191. Linda said

Madonna — I do remember Tanya dropping by too…

  192. Dani said

Hey Alli and Aiden are doing fine. Alli is expected back at school next week. See your emails for more news. 😦

I have said things on the email about remembering the blog and stuff and got not much of a response. Of course, most of my messages don’t get much of a response.

  193. Madonna said

    Dani, ((((((HUGS))))))

I read what happened on the emails. Scary, but I’m sure that everything will be OK.

Now, is it just the stress speaking or are you really feeling that unloved? You need to tell us so we can fix it.

Hey Dani girl. I’ve been in a training class for two days, so I’m behind in the e-mails and the blog. I did see your comment, though, about responses to your messages. I do think most of us scan all messages even if we don’t respond. So, don’t think you’re unloved!

  197. laurel said

Elizabeth – You know that document I handed to you at lunch? Check to see what page it starts with. Hopefully you have page 1. I grabbed it off the printer as I was running out the door and didn’t check. Now that I’m home I see that the printer had run out of paper. If you’re missing the first page or two let me know and I’ll go drop them off at your house. 🙂
    Or I could e-mail them.

Dani -You’ve not been ignored, although I’m not always good about responding when the e-mails get to be over 100. You are very much cared about and your family continues to be in my prayers.

Hey! Himmie! Nice to see you here!
And Arrowyn too? Wow. Long time – no see. hehehe

  198. elizabeth said

Laurel – I have page 1, but page 18 is missing (hint, hint) and I think it is pretty significant to the time change I am reading. I sent you an email 🙂 Thanks for a wonderful lunch today. It is amazing how much better my mood is…now if the eye twitch would only go away *sigh*

  199. laurel said

Ah, but page 18 is missing on purpose. It is an incomplete section and I’m working on it. I guess I should have given it to you anyway. I can e-mail it if you want but it is really rough. I added to page 17 since lunch…

  200. Himmiefan said

Hello Laurel, and everyone else!! *waves*

  201. Dani said

I’m sorry ladies. I am just feeling really stretched thing right now and not much of myself lately. Sometimes I wish I could just stay in bed and never get out. I’m feeling really down and can’t seem to get out. All of you ladies mean a lot to me and I know I am not unloved and your not ignoring me. Yesterday my mind set was I am only 1 in 30 so I can’t matter all that much. I guess I have remnants of those feelings today. I didn’t mean to make everyone upset. I guess I am missing my Dizey and MamaClaire too. Not having them here worries me and makes me think there are things going on that are far worse then they are telling me.

  202. Dani said

Madonna if read this-I told you on the phone I was ok but now I realize that I’m really not. Just to let you know that I didnt’ lie to you.

I have put somethings in my story that I realized is true about me. I guess it is an eye opener.

  203. Wildstar said

laurel! are you going to be available tochat tonight? even if you haven’t caught up I don’t care – I miss you…

Dani! Hugs and more hugs – you’re emotionally stretched thin right now and I’m sure you feel ready to snap…just focus on our love and we’ll help you through it all

working from home is a joke – the system keeps kicking me off – so I am working on writting…he he he

    off to check emails!

  204. Dani said

I’m ready to help you help me through it. I feel really stupid about this because prtfvr and Claire etc have far crazier things to make them feel the way I do.

  205. laurel said

Dani – Good lord girl, don’t try to out do prtfvr and Claire! You have plenty to deal with already.
Also, don’t judge your leadership abilities by how well you were followed. (But please note that you WERE followed)
Think of it more like herding cats. 🙂

  206. laurel said

Wildstar – I’m home! What chapters am I supposed to be working on editing?

    Good morning Himmie!

  207. elizabeth said

I am a total expert on herding cats and I am here to tell you it is hard, hard work!! I am in a leadership role at work and quite often I find myself at the head of a parade and no one is following…yikes!

Laurel – I would love to see the missing pages and what you have added. I finished what you gave me last night and I have to say – WOW! This is good; really good and I can’t wait to get together with you to talk about it more 🙂

    Hi Himmie *waves back*

  208. laurel said

Cats follow better after you stroke their ego. 😛
Thanks for the feed back Elizabeth. prrrrrr.

Dani – I read chapter 2 and left you a message at the bottom of the page.
I’m saving chapter 3 for tomorrow. (Am I going to need my fire extinguisher?)

  209. DebS said

Dani-I am going to say the same thing that all of you said to me when I first came back to the group in November. I left because I was so depressed and felt alone and stupid and worthless. But let’s recall what was told to me.

You are not stupid! Your fears and feelings are valid. You cannot compare your pain to others’ pain because it is like comparing apples and oranges. No matter how low you feel, remember that you are loved, cherished, and treasured. We are here for you and will always be here for you. Sisters never walk away when you get angry, scared, or upset. We sit with you (even if it is virtually) and let you put your head on our shoulders.

    We love you!!!!!

You, Madonna, Claire, Prtfvr, and others all said those exact things to me, and now I am pushing it back to you. 🙂

  210. Dani said

Is it ok to feel selfish for feeling this way because I know there are people out there in far worse situations then me?

  211. Dani said

I don’t think you will need the fire extinguisher yet. Also keep in mind these have not been edited by Z’s wonderful mind yet.

  212. DebS said

It is okay to feel whatever. I have learned recently that whether or not I think my feelings are justified I just need to accept them for what they are. Once I do that I feel a bit better, which eventually turns into a lot better.

And just because someone is in a worse situation than you, doesn’t mean your situation isn’t bad.

So on the scale of “sucky life situations” You might only be level yellow, and Claire is yellow orange (orange being higher than yellow)…does not mean that yellow doesn’t suck monkey nuts (and not crash’s, some other anonymous monkey’s). I mean if you are anywhere on the “sucky life situations” scale you have earned the right to complain, bitch, moan, and feel like shit.

At least that is my honest and humble opinion. Okay, maybe not humble…I am rarely humble…hehe.

  213. laurel said

Dani – Okay, I’ll save the fire extinguisher for Wildstar’s story tonight, thanks. I know you said these hadn’t been edited yet so I just read for story content and ignored any typos I might have encountered.
Your style is quite different from the way i write. It makes me think it would work well as a dramatic reading or a staged play, so that is the imagery I see when I read it. I would love for you to describe their voices so that I can try to hear them the way you do.
    Keep writing!

  214. laurel said

DebS – My mind got stuck at ‘monkey nuts’ and froze up. I can’t say that I’ve ever heard that phrase before. Too funny!
No need to be humble. We’d rather see you stand up tall and proud!
Besides, it was very well said.

  215. DebS said

Thanks! Don’t you just love the phrase monkey nuts. My friend Evan used to yell donkey nuts a lot…and that just never set well with me. Not funny enough. Now, a monkey’s nuts…very funny.

  216. laurel said

I am so afraid to analyze why that is funny.
    It just is.
    🙂

  217. DebS said

Oh don’t analyze…just accept it. Hey at least I didn’t choose the armadillo.

  218. laurel said

    LMAO!!
    Accessibility issues?

  219. Dani said

Monkeys nuts ok now I’m laughing.

Hm I will have to think about their voices. I know Raine is very Irish even though he has never lived there he has visited when he was a kid and I can see him having the slightest hint of a brogue. Besides that I melt at the sound of a brogue-Irish or Scottish. At times he would have a happy and laughing tone but with a seriousness hidden behind it. When he is talking with Jenna he immediately turns more tender and softer.

I can picture Aiden be more happy go lucky devil may care quality to his voice. He does realize the serious nature of his duties but why let them run the rest of his life.

The girl I will have to think about.

  220. laurel said

That was really helpful, Dani! Don’t forget to add descriptions like that into the story itself. You will make it richer!

  221. Dani said

Oh I know I have alot to go back and add or change. I just have to figure out how. I thought I would get as much down as I could and then go back and round it out and make it fuller and richer.

  222. laurel said

Elizabeth and I were talking about that yesterday. If you stop to retool it now you might lose your momentum and then you’ll end up like me, stuck. 🙂
I seem to write in oddly disjointed bits, and then I have to figure out how to put them all together. If you have the story flowing forward you should keep moving ahead. Flesh it out later if you need to.

It takes great courage to share your work with others. I want you to know how much it means that you trust us with your ‘baby.’

  223. Dani said

I was very nervous about it but I knew you guys would at least put me down nicely if it sucked.

  224. Wildstar said

    Laurel – we’re up to chapter 29
I wasn’t sure if you’d read it yet – I ‘m thrilled your getting into your own writting, so don’t feel bad if you haven’t done any editing on mine..

email me and let me know if we’re meeting tonight – of just pop by and see if we’re working….

  225. Dani said

Laurel just out of curiousity what about it makes you think it would be good as a dramatic reading or stage play.

  226. Dani said

I am heading out for the day. I will be having some R&R with Aiden tonight so chances are I will be able to chat later tonight.

  227. DebS said

I am putting this on the blog, because I know that there are a few readers of the blog that aren’t reading the google mail. And you all need this too! This is one of my favorite poems by Maya Angelou called Phenomenal Woman. I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you as it does me.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
    They think I’m telling lies.
    I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
    The span of my hips,
    The stride of my step,
    The curl of my lips.
    I’m a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That’s me.

    I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
    And to a man,
    The fellows stand or
    Fall down on their knees.
    Then they swarm around me,
    A hive of honey bees.
    I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
    The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
    I’m a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That’s me.

    Men themselves have wondered
    What they see in me.
    They try so much
    But they can’t touch
    My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
    I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
    The sun of my smile,
    The ride of my breasts,
    The grace of my style.
    I’m a woman

    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That’s me.

    Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
    When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
    I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
    The bend of my hair,
    the palm of my hand,
    The need of my care,
    ‘Cause I’m a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That’s me.

  228. laurel said

DebS, Thank you for sharing that. It is so true that true beauty is something more than what shows on the surface. I was unfamiliar with that particular poem.

Dani – I think of your story that way because it is so strongly dialog based, at this point anyway. Just one of my odd quirks. I used to work on radio productions and small stage pieces in college and remember trying to make the story memorable by HOW it was read as much as by WHAT was read. That is why I asked about the voices as you perceive them.

  229. laurel said

Wildstar – Chapter 29? Okay, I’ll see about 30 as well.
I got the edits you sent back to me and was delighted to see I had sent you a version that had two paragraphs I had somehow deleted from the original. Makes me a very happy person right now. The story was missing something and I couldn’t figure out where it had gone.

  230. Wildstar said

oh good – I’m glad you found the missing chapters – I’ve dont that myself – I emailed Rose edits, but somehow I didn’t save that copy – so at least I had it in the copy of the email!

    see you tonight

  231. laurel said

It was just a couple of paragraphs, but I hadn’t noticed they were missing until I started fixing the edits and there was a segment I didn’t have any more. Weird.

I’m here, working on 29. I found some things in 28, but you may already have fixed them with Annalaise.

  232. Dani said

See I wondered if there ws to much dialogue. I am so new to this. First there wasn’t enough dialogue or description. Now I think there is too much dialogue and still not enough descriptions.

  233. laurel said

I think it may simply mean that your style is different than mine.
Not worse, not bad, just different.
    Note the word is STYLE!

  234. Dani said

I know I was thinking more along the lines of a book. It will just be a book very full of dialogue. It is a talkie. 🙂 I have had someone tell me I should right a screenplay but I seriously don’t know where to start.

  235. Dani said

I’m bored I think I will pop in the Covenant No wait my old Blood Ties.

  236. laurel said

You are so funny. A talkie! Some of are old enough to know what that means, sadly.
    I was thinking screen-play too.
I like the dialog and think you have the beginnings of a lovely story.

  237. Dani said

Yes I know what a “talkie” is. I am a huge movie buff.
