I’m feeling lost

No new Blood Ties this week. That mini-marathon didn’t do me any good at all.

OTOH, this picture still makes me giggle, even this long after the episode aired.

And since I can’t leave the Hens without their Henry macros

Dang! I’m staying up all night to catch my flight and I’m still not the first poster. LOL!

Things are still looking good for departure. My flight is still showing as leaving on time. Only one flight cancelled out of Ottawa tomorrow morning leading to Calgary – one through Toronto, naturally.

Gypsy – OMG! That Klingon macro – way too funny! πŸ˜‰ Reminds me of the episode in Deep Space Nine where they travel back in time and someone asks Worf why the Klingons of the original series era looked so weird, kind of like humans with shoe polish on their skin and bad wigs. Of course we all know that special effects makeup wasn’t that great in the 1960s compared to what can be done now. But the line he delivered was too funny! Something like “this is a period of our history which we do not discuss”. It was eventually explained in an episode of Enterprise. (Okay, you can now tell that I’m a bit of a Star Trek fan, hmmm?)

And the Mr. Burns impression? Just as long as Henry doesn’t start speaking with Mr. Burns’ voice, that’s good ’cause that voice coming out of Henry’s mouth would just be weird.

Hi Linda, just answering your post in this new thread.

Kingston is a great city to visit. Lots of history! I’ve been there 3 times (I have an aunt who lives there) and have spent most of my time in the downtown. It used to have many very wealthy families so there are lots of great old houses. Canada’s first Prime Minister lived there. There’s Fort Henry. Canada’s first capital (with Toronto and Montreal getting in on it too) until it was re-assigned to Ottawa in 1857 because Kingston was too close to the U.S. and fears of possible invasion. Site of the 1976 Olympic sailing events. And for those who love really strange things, home to 7 prisons including the infamous Kingston penitentiary, and the prison museum with the world’s largest collection of shivs. Rifkind – what lovely little fact do you now know about penitentiaries in Canada?

Because it was originally intended to be Canada’s capital there are a lot of really beautiful public buildings, especially the town hall and the Frontenac court house. There is even a park where the parliamentary buildings were supposed to go. And not to mention Queen’s University and the Royal Military College.

  4. Linda said

Freya — Amazing! Now I wish we had spent more time in Kingston. We were only there for a brief stop. The world’s largest collection of shivs?!? Rifkind would have trouble topping that one.

Got my fingers crossed that your flight stays on time!

  5. rifkind said

Freyja has been helping me in understanding some of the differences in the legal systems and prisons in Canada vs the US.
Blood Ties is pretty generic when it comes to representing the cops side of things and there is no real hint that this show is supposed to be happening in Toronto not some generic US city.

I hope that Freyja was able to get her flight on time!

  6. Good Morning Ladies,

I remember when you could hardly get your weekend chores done for fear of missing something on the blog. Oh well, I’m going to write if off to the holidays and hope things get back to normal after the first of the year.

First I want to thank all my blog sisters for the beautiful thoughtful cards and gifts. (No wonder you aren’t blogging, you’ve been too darn busy!) Lady A, Danae, lwildstar, (thanks again) Cree, Freyja, Elizabeth, Miggles, Madonna, I love your the bats and your beautiful hand painted ornament You are so thoughtful. Tango –OMG the calendar is awesome! Melanie was looking at, saw the last pic and just stopped and went OOOOHHHHOOHHH.

Last but not least to my dearest Secret Santa. You are awesome. I love my gift and I loved the letter you sent. Thank you SOOOO MUCH.

Gypsy–Love the new macros. The kyle pic is one of my favorites as you can tell.

FYI–Moonlight was back on this week if any of you missed it like I did. What a pleasant surprise to find the new ep on my dvr.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the big podcast announcement so I will. What a waste of time. All they talked about was the Bt Marathon on the Real Women Network and the fact that Lifetime hasn’t made a decision yet. Don’t waste you time downloading it.

  7. rifkind said

    Yup Annalaise,
    I LOVE my TiVo too!
It WAS a heartbreaking episode of Moonlight. Talk about being mean to your characters!

Mike; “Has any woman EVER told you no?”
Hemry: “Yes, Ann Bolen, but she regetted it later.”

sorry cant think of anything else …I will work on it…

    LOVE my magnet….sooo great…
LOVE my calendar…AWESOME….I am taking it to school to put up in my room…my students will get a kick out of it..( I always tell them what a TV aholic I am) and my fellow teachers can see what a wonderful group of women I have found…
Madonna…I love my ornament…soo talented..I cant even make a stick figure come out right…let alone paint something…WOW….I love it…it is already on the tree right next to my “family” ornament of penquins with all of our names on it. HEHEH Henry is part of the family…

Though that might be more of a laugh.

Friday evening I was contacted by a UK promotion agency, asking if I wanted to run a competition to promote the UK DVD release of Blood Ties.
I of course refused – NOT!

If you click the DVD cover image, there’s a preeeetty big version underneath.
They didn’t put any restrictions on who could participate, so if you can play non-US DVDs, knock yourselves out. An iPod shuffle is part of the prize too.

Someone definitely had fun putting together the accompanying press release:

“The long-haired neck-biter, who resides in an upscale, uptown condo, leads a low profile life during the day as a writer and designer, but by night satisfies his blood lust by dining on criminals, and more enjoyably, by snacking on willing sex partners. ”

Upscale, uptown, low profile … someone has a way with words!
    Long-haired neck-biter – HA!

    Actually, the long-haired neck-biter doesn’t lead ANY kind of life during the day – I’m not a neck-biter – just a nit-picker πŸ˜‰

    Glad Henry’s not one – a nit-picking long-haired neck-biter is quite a tongue twister …

  22. Good Morning Ladies,

I’ve sad news to share. Dan Fogelberg passed away yesterday morning after loosing his fight with prostate cancer. He was one of my favorite singer/musicians in the early 70’s and a big musical influence on me during the years when music was a motivating force in my life. Dan you will be missed.

    – – -In Memorium – – –

    Dan Fogelberg
    August 13, 1951– Dec 16 2007

An American singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music has been informed by sources as diverse as folk, pop, classical, jazz, and bluegrass music.Fogelberg was a session musician who played with pop-folk artists like Van Morrison before his 1974 album ”Souvenirs” and the hit song “Part of the Plan” made him a major star.

    Hey Everybody:

I just wanted to clarify that at this time we are looking at a mid 2008 release date for the North American DVD set, not 2010 (don’t even know where that came from).

Hope that brings a little light to your day.

  25. Thanks for the GOOD news for a change Scribble. Happy Holidays to you.

I can’t believe all of the wonderful cards and little gifts I’ve been getting. What amazing friends you all are.
I am one of the slower sort so most of my cards have been mailed in the last couple of days, and a few will go out today. I did finally get my Secret Santa gift sent.
Obviously I don’t craft as fast as some of you. I have a pile of things half done, 😦 but they will make good New Years presents so I guess you can be surprised later. Sorry about the delay.

Freyja – I hope you are planning on checking in with us so we’ll know you got to your folks’ house in one piece (with luggage of course).

Nisi – are we still on for Saturday? I think I missed some e-mails in the 598 unread that appeared in my mailbox since Friday night. Yikes.

    Buongiorno bellas.

Ugh! What a day. It took me about an hour to get my car out of the driveway. And that was after clearing it off and snowblowing it out yesterday. It still wouldn’t budge. Working on getting it out I tore my fingernail off below the skin. It hurts like hell!

No baby! Now Chris is saying he will be here before Christmas.

Amber’s party went great. Took lots of pictures but I forgot my camera at home. I will put them up tomorrow if I remember the camera. Only two of her friends came but she didn’t mind. One little girl from her dance class was sick so her mom dropped off a gift.

Miggles, I got you card. Thank you.

OMG Madonna I love the Hen House ornament. It is wonderful. You are so talented. If I ever get around to writing my Amber books I am going to ask you to do the illustrations. I loved the little stuffed bat and keychain.

Tango, What can I say about that calender. It is so wonderful. I love all the pictures you used. Especially the last one. Yeah no surprise there.

My mom said you gals are so wonderful and absolutely amazing. She thinks you have done so much for me and is very grateful for all of you as am I.

I asked my dad to go to the post office for me to send my Secret Santa gift out today. She should hopefully get it in a few days.

MamaClaire, I call you this at home. Amber was playing with her new toys she got from her birthday party. She got this Polly Pocket horse stable set with two dolls and two horses. She was playing that one doll was the mom and the other was the daughter. She was so funny while playing. She was making the daughter doll call the mother doll, MamaClaire. Can you believe that? She picks up everything I say. My mother and I both started cracking up. My mom said, I can just imagine the conversation on Monday when you tell Claire that.

Hi guys, I’m at work today and I am going to try and last all day. So far, it isn’t much fun trying to get around. My leg is really a mess and I am beyond frustrated with the limitations I have right now. Explain to me why a bruise will hurt worse as it starts to heal?

Tango – The calendar – oh My Gosh, it is awesome! Thank you! It made my day getting out of the mailbox.

Annalaise – your magnet is on my fridge and I don’t want it to be holding up anything because it is too awesome on its own.

Nisi – Thank you for the lovely card! I get so excited every time I get one in the mail because all of you mean so much to me!

Hey, ms Laurel – I am on vacation Thursday and Friday of this week. Do you want to try and meet for coffee or lunch? Any of the rest of the Wet Coasters? I may not be fast getting around, but I have missed seeing all of you.

    Hi ladies,

Sorry Danae. Yes, very very busy today. Early deadline week and the “go to” designer Michael for the other team here is on vacation today and tomorrow. So I’m Michael and Madonna today. CRAZY!!!!

I’m sorry you feel so horrible. I can completely understand and sympathize with the leg pain and the inability to get around like you want to. Continue to nurse it and I pray you feel better soon.

How are you feeling? Better I hope.

Fingers and toes crossed. Good luck!

I’m glad you received your packages and enjoyed the contents. Thank you one and all for the wonderful compliments. I made them with love.

  47. Arrowyn said

Just a quick note to let you know I’m home from Las Vegas. And, before you ask — no, I didn’t win enough to buy Blood Ties and put it back on TV! I wish! I didn’t win AT ALL!

I haven’t read the blog since Sunday, I think (maybe before) and I have about 600 emails at work and a little less than that at home to look through. Thank heavens, most of those are duplicates! I HOPE! So, I’ll be posting and emailing in drips and drabs as I catch up. I’m just going to assume that if there had been big news about BT (good or bad) while I was gone, someone would have left a message for me.

Well, back to all the work that greeted me this morning. I was all caught up on Wednesday when I left the office. How can I have work waiting for me on Monday — when everybody was in Las Vegas?!

  48. elizabeth said

Arrowyn – too bad you didn’t win the big bucks, but I hope you had fun anyway?! Glad you made it back safe and sound.

  49. Cree said

Hi E. The back is much better, thanks for asking. I hardly have any pain anymore, but I am very conscious about how I am bending down these days. Don’t want any more accidental injuries. I would ask how the leg is, but from your post earlier sounds like it is hurting you. Sorry to hear that. Hope it gets better soon. Try not to over-do it at work.

Cree – I am really glad you are feeling better. I know from my own injury how super conscious I am about how I move right now. Take care.

Madonna – You are recovering well?

Susana – I hope the itching is going away?

Hello ladies!! I’m just doing a quick drive-by to say hi. I’ve been swamped trying to get stuff done before I go on vacation (woo hoo!) Thursday. I’m crunching now because I didn’t crunch earlier. I did, though, make my chocolate covered gingerbread men, and they were to die for!! Now, I tried to be all Martha Stewarty and drizzle red and green icing on them, but they just ended up looking like they had a skin disease. They tasted good, though. I put crushed peppermints on the gingerbread trees, and they were great too.

Freyja – I wave to a fellow Trekkie. You mentioned Enterprise. Great cast and great characters. Awful writers and producers. A good example of when bad things happen to a good show. Oh, Scott Bakula is drop-dead sexy.

    Well, off to dinner. Bye!

  53. Anzia said

Scribble- GREAT present! Thanks! hope your holidays are great!

Madonna- yeah…have no official confirmation but a comment made by my boss pretty much stated I wasn’t going to be around past the end of next week. *sigh* So, i’m looking at unemployment…AGAIN. *hangs head* can i give up yet?

Ugh….so I did get cards in the mail and I went back and read all the ones I’d already gotten. They made me feel a little better. 😦 I need a visit from one of my dream men. Doesn’t have to be Henry (though I wouldn’t complain) but one of them…just so i can have nice warm STRONG arms that make it seem like i’m not totally screwed.

I can’t keep up with all the cards I’m getting but I have to comment on the Hen’s House ornament and stuffed batlette from Madonna. I don’t decorate for the holidays but I have a huge branch off the tree in front of my house that I keep in my living room and hand interesting things from. And I had JUST enough room for those lovely bats and the ornament. They’ll be staying there for a lot longer than just the holiday season, since that branch has been there for years and will remain there for as long as I live in this house. Thank you, dollface!

Now, we have established that there are a number of Torchwood and Doctor Who fans here. (I’m one of each.) And I expect there are more than three Trek fen (I am but mostly just Next Gen; after that it just got weird and I’m the odd not-a-Scott-Bakula-fan…) But is anyone here addicted to BBC’s Robin Hood? I’m going NUTS because BBC finally managed to block my source for the second season, and I’m only up through episode nine. I know BBC America will be carrying it but I’M IMPATIENT!!!!! I have a big time crush on the guy who plays Little John. The show is shot in Hungary (I think) and Gordon Kennedy tells this story about having been injured during a stunt; he was taken to an emergency room in the nearest city where, since no one spoke English, they concluded he was a vagrant and pushed him around. (If you haven’t seen the show, go here http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/robinhood/characters/littlejohn.shtml to see why this might be the case.) I just love big, rough-edged guys, and Kennedy is a marvel.

Is it pretty much a foregone conclusion that there’s no new season for BT in the future? I’m really depressed about it. And no amount of Robin Hood silliness or Torchwood sexiness or Doctor Who weirdness will lift that depression.

  59. susana said

oh,btw, the itchiness persists, i am now dealing with it the 3rd world way as i know how to, ignore it and pray! I am not even taking the damn steroids anymore! as for the boobs…ouch! I agree msgypsy, torchwood sexiness does not fix my need for Henry! I still have it bad, i watched my reruns on itunes last night, heart of fire, keeps me going! All that moaning πŸ™‚ I love mike in postpartum and vicki in 5:55….and every single gina outfit…..and…..and…..and……..

Ms. Gypsy I also like the BBC Robin Hood, but I think I missed the last few eps of the season. My fav Robin Hood was a british show produced back in the 80s and shown here on Showtime. It was called Robin of Sherwood or something like that. It starred Michael Praed.

But you and Susanna are right, none of those compares to Blood Ties. It was so depressing not to have a new ep this past week. I just finished watching The Devil you Know again. I still have hope there will be another season. I think the writer’s strike could force lt’s hand. Here’s hoping!

Thank Scribble for giving us news about the DVD!

  61. rifkind said

    DVD release date differences. . . .

*E* I would guess that the DVD release in the USA is timed later because of Lifetime for Real Women having the Blood Ties Marathon in ?? February 2008??
If there is money to be made by releasing it later… then that is what will happen.
There must not be much demand for re-running BT in the UK.

It often has to do with end-of-year budgets… and with needing to come up with the budget money for the next January to pay the contractors.
Lots of companies haven’t finalized the next year’s budgets for contract help… so the contractors go out the door for a couple of months. It has nothing to do with how well you did your job for them.

Your boss should not have ‘hinted’ about your employment status.. but remember that unless your boss is a real jerk.. that bosses hate having to deliver the bad news. Especially just before Christmas.
He may have wanted to start breaking the news to you so that it is not such a shock when he finally HAS to tell you what is going on.

I know that MY boss was devastated when he was told on 12/15 that he had to tell all of his contractors that there was NO budget money come January 1st.. and we were all let go wiht 2 weeks notice.
Not fun when you have already spent waay too much for Christmas gifts..
I had already put in my time as vacation for the last week of the year… so I was out an extra weeks pay on top of my Christmas spending.
Turns out that they called me back to the same contract position 3 months later. Awe for that crystal ball to show me that I would only have a 3 month layoff… I could have enjoyed myself! LOL!
    Hang in there Anzia..
If the news comes down bad, see if you can get some references for the next job.
    { { { HUGS} } } Dear!

Rif- i was placed through a direct to hire staffing agency. The only reason they allowed this position to be staffed through them is because they had worked w/novum before. They were told the position was basically garaunteed to be perminant after the “trial” period was over. Which only came about b/c the girl previous to me was such a ditz. So, i kind of feel cheated ’cause i kept hearing over and over about how they have no open positions, how they aren’t hiring (but have a recruiter working for them right now) etc. It sucks… i think i might ask today so..we’ll know for sure…maybe…if i’m not a chicken…

I just wish someone would give me directions to the dang window that’s supposed to open if this door closes. I’m kind of tired of playing the guessing game and losing.

The moron school bus driver who is never ever on time left Elijah at school yesterday afternoon…I’m standing at the stop at 1p.m. and only 3 of my kids get off and they’re screaming and crying telling me the bus driver didn’t want to hear it and just left when they told her that Elijah was in the bathroom could she please wait! Good thing Chris and Britt where home..they picked him up,but too late evil MamaClaire was already on the loose!! I called up the bus depot and they tried to blame Elijah and the school.”If someone would have told the bus driver a child was missing, she would have drove around the street then came back.” I said.”BUllshit!!! because my children are quadruplets and she knows this and they all told her over and over!! then I called the school liaison and the school board and guess what? They told me they had other complaints about her and this was the last straw!! So this morning..different driver and on time!!!

Anywho..have to go check emails …I’m scared lol! because I had aol issues last night and couldn’t get on..probably have hundreds of emails!

    Linda —

I’m glad to finally find someone who watched and loved Robin of Sherwood with Micheal Praed as much as I did. Not too many people remember that show. We were recently discussing it here on the blog. Check out Michaels web site if you haven’t before. He’s aged well.

I remember how devastated I was when they killed him off on the show, and replaced him with another “Robin Hood” to carry on the cause. Funny story- I was sitting with my fiance’s mother watching Dynasty on TV one evening the week it happened, trying to explain to her how upset I was about them killing him off . She asked me what did he looked like so I was trying to describe him and happened to look at the TV, and there he was big as life on Dynasty. I said he looked just like that guy. As a matter of fact he is that guy. Now I know why he left Robin Hood.Playing Prince Michael of Moldavia on Dynasty was not a role to pass up. At the it was one of the hottest shows on the tube.

Anyway, It’s good to find another fan. There’s a lot of old footage on You Tube. Check it out.

Anzia — Darn, I thought this time you had found something permanent. I’m sorry to hear that its not going to work out. Just keep trying eventually you’ll find the perfect job.

Rifkind — Got the books last night. That one on writing is excellent. I’m going to read it as soon as I finish The Elves of Cintra (Terry Brooks) Who just happens to be one of the contributing writers in the book you sent. I read his chapter on writing fantasy novels at breakfast this morning. He has interesting perspective and good advice.

The piano book is great as well. I love all those old standards. It’ll be a welcome addition to my collection, although I’m afraid it will be a while before I’ll be capable of playing anything from it. I’ve only been taking lessons for a year. I’m still struggling with the “easy” stuff. LOL It will give me something to aspire to.
    Thanks much.

    I’m glad the books arrived.
I looked and looked at writing books and that one seemed to cover alot of the topics that my writing teacher harped on.. and it has very good advice.

It’s always fun to read about what one of your favorite writers has to say on the art of being a writer.. I’m glad that Terry Brooks had a chapter in the book.

    On the music book,
Well now you have lots of choices for practicing.. LOL!

    Buongiorno bellas!

    Still on baby watch.

We are supposed to be getting another storm this week. Either Wednesday into Thursday, Thursday into Friday or just Friday. I swear weather people just say that so that they won’t be wrong.

MamaClaire, I gave Amber a big kiss and hug from you last night. She looked at me like I had two heads and skipped off to play. She is so funny.

So tomorrow is Amber’s real birthday. We are going to get a Lil Love Carvel cake and have a mini party. Should be fun.

Z, little sis when you least expect that open window will be right in front of you. Hang in there. I know it is scary and a little discouraging but we are all here for you. Keep the faith, little squirrel.

I got a card from catcornmom yesterday. Your kids are gorgeous. I love your little hotdog. It looks just like my moms that is mother of mine. I love the way their little bodies wiggle when they get excited. Is it a boy or a girl? What is it’s name?

  73. laurel said

Rifkind – Could you send me the title of the book you send Annalaise? I am looking for a little advise/encouragement for my own writing. I have a couple of books on my Christmas list. I noticed there are about 200 titles for aspiring writers.

Ms. Z. – Hugs from me! Uncertainty sucks. We’ve all been there, and believe me, this too shall pass. Good things are coming!

Claire – poor things, and poor you! Three crying children and one not there. I can’t believe that driver would leave a child behind. Glad she’s gone!

By the way, favorite Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The movie where they went back to Earth to save the whales was pretty good too.

  75. Danae said

MamaClaire, I can see you now on the warpath with the bus company and school. If anyone can get anything done it’s you.

The “hotdog” is named Lilly–a girl. The terrier is Daisy, also a girl. My sister has one of Lilly’s litter-mates named Maddie. She’s much lighter, not as red and has a shorter nose. Lilly is such a baby. We’ve recently had snow and she doesn’t like to go outside and do her thing in the snow. I have to shovel a path in the grass so she will go outside. I literally had to toss her out this last weekend to get her to go!! I love the way she buries herself under the covers and just her nose sticks out!!! Daisy is just crazy. She’s my mean, protector dog. What a dumb name for a watch dog!! People never suspect!! We have an invisible fence that keeps them in the yard and I have to tell people to stay away from her. When I board them I have to tell them “she doesn’t play well with others”. It’s embarrassing!!

I had forgotten about Michael Praed in Robin of Sherwood. I loved that show! I think I primarily watched it just to see him πŸ™‚ He most definately has aged well. *sigh*

Rifkin – thank you for the advice on my leg. It was most welcome. I have called to set up an appointment to see a doctor. The swelling is still pretty severe and I am concerned.

Anzia – I am so sorry to hear of your concerns regarding your job. I hire a lot of contract staff and it is never easy when I have to release them from their assignment. Year end budgets and time limitations are the major culprits in this company. I will beam positive energy your way that things will work out for you.

Claire – you go girl! I had a similar situation with my daughter Krysten and the bus driver a couple of years ago. She accidentally got on the wrong bus and when she realized it the bus driver just pulled over and dropped her off on the side of the road! She was 11 years old and in an unfamiliar part of Sherwood. She was smart enough to walk back to her school, which was close to a mile away and then call me from there. I was furious and raised quite a ruckus with the bus company and the school. The driver should have driven her back to her school, not drop her off along side the road! Right after that I got her a cell phone so that she would never be in such a frightening position again – she could call me for help.

Catcornmom, my mom’s dog is Misty and my dog is Coco. Misty will bark and bark and bark until you pay attention to her. Coco will run and hide. She is quite a baby too. She is a very big scaredy cat (dog?) If anyone she doesn’t know goes to touch her or pick her up she cries and cries like she is being tortured and she will either nip you or pee. She is the sweetest thing though and very gentle. Misty is the crazy hyper one. Coco won’t go outside either. There are papers set up in front of the stove for her. I took some really adorable pictures of her over the weekend. I will send them to you.

I found the gem book at 1/2 Priced books.. and we’ll have to ask Annailaise what the name was.. I looked at a ton of books over the weekend and found THAT one that seemed to be a good “Intro to being a writer” book. I was looking for the content and didn’t focus on the title. Sorry.

Mmy most FAVORITE book on PLOT and weaving a very tight story is, of course, out of print and the used book sellers are selling it for over twice the original cover price.
(Proof that it is a great book, I’d say!)

    Writing the Blockbuster Novel
    by Albert Zuckerman (Author)
See if you can get it at the Library. That is where I first read it.
You will also want to read Ken Follett’s [The Man from St. Petersburg] as Zuckerman does an in-depth analysis of the book and what makes it a well crafted story.
His advice is great for how to craft a story, but he falls flat when it comes to getting the story published.
There are lots of books about “How to get Happily Published”…

Since I am not published yet.. I have no real grasp on which books are the most helpful.
Getting Published.. First It has something about getting the words onto paper! We did get the plot for the rest of book finailzed last weekend and have a general idea about what each chapter will be about.
So we are making some progress. on our book πŸ™‚
Now to finish writing the next 18 chapters.. LOL!

I found this online about Dan Brown (Author of the Davinci Code)

Hey! No drinking on the blog!

Actually those sound like fun to try, but I would probably just want a little taste. I am not a big egg-nog fan because it is too rich for me. Half-and-half is about as rich as I can stand in my drinks.
The second one sounded pretty good until the Fresh Ginger Juice, that stuff can be really spicy, but I may have to try it out!

  87. Danae said

No drinking on the blog. Now that is funny. Haven’t you ever read my posts from when I had a few to drink? That is evidence that drinking on the blog can be quite entertaining.

  88. laurel said

Rifkind – Thanks for the titles. I may be able to find the Zuckerman book here in Portland. We have one of the largest used book sellers in the world here in town.
You can find them on-line at Powelsbooks.com, if you are looking for something that is hard to find. I have the ability to walk into one of their 3 local stores and find my own treasures, so let me know if you are looking for something because I may be able to find it at a more reasonable price than you will find on-line elsewhere.

I am back on my series of semi-related short stories at the moment. It is an odd way to write but fun to be able to pick up different characters and see smaller bits of their lives. My three other stories are waiting to inspire me after the holidays, since I don’t have time to sit down and write at the moment. Oh, well. πŸ™‚

Several incidences like that have happened here in Cincinnati in the last few years. Two times now they have actually left small children on the bus that weren’t found until after the drivers had already parked and left their buses for the evening.

Last year there was a school bus crash that critically injured 2 high school students. The driver in that case was high on pot and cocaine at the time. It’s just plain scary.

I’m sorry about your job. I can imagine how frustrated you are. You have my permission to walk outside and scream as loudly as possible and Henry will be over tonight. Oh, and just say NO to babysitting for the rest of the year. (((((((HUGS)))))))))

Got your card yesterday. So nice to see your family.

Got your card yesterday too and I have to say I just loved it. It has to be one of the cutest most appropriate cards I’ve seen in a long time.

My dog Boo-Boo sounds like an interesting mix of Lilly and Daisy. He can be a big chicken but when called for is ready to protect us from anything. Even each other.

BTW….. Have you seen the kidney specialist yet?

How is your dad doing? Did he ever have his surgery?

Madonna- I see the specialist in the middle of January. I guess I’m not too worried since my doctor’s office set the appointment up. They didn’t put a “rush” on it!! I did get a nice big packet of paper work to fill out though. I also saw what the hospital charged for my two tests. It was over $2500.00!!! Holy crap! It’s a good thing I already pay outrageous premiums for my awesome insurance, or that bill would really suck to pay!

Nice advice ladies! I look at the shelves and shelves of books on novel writing and think “I could have my novel written by the time I read a couple of those!” I like knowing any that others have read and found helpful, or if you know which to avoid. I suspect I would be better off to look at the books about submitting to publishers because I’m probably making every mistake a writer can make. But, at least I’m having fun!
Thanks Linda, I do remember seeing that title at Borders last night. I put it on my list and will look at it more in-depth next time I’m in the store.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back. My job is interfering with my personal life… I hate when that happens.

Rifkind and Laurel I just got this book recently and have not read it all, however it is very short. It talks about writing everyday no matter what. Even if you think what you write is not productive, to write anyway. Treat it like a job. He also talks about writing with abandon about things you might not normally talk or write about. I only dabble in writing, but I think he has some good points. The book you mentioned that dissects the Ken Follet novel sounds interesting. I always get bogged down trying to create a plot.

They tried to get that woman fired, but the school wants to to “retrain” her by sending her to class etc… I don’t know what the final outcome will be.

Margaret I just watched that ep last night. Is it the part where Alexander says to Henry, I just wanted someone to know what she did to me…You’ll do.”

  116. lwildstar said

wow, Linda…I’m doing the right thing and didn’t even know it – I set aside at least 30 minutes a day to write….I’m suposed to be writing now in fact…but I keep getting distracted πŸ˜‰

  117. Margaret said

Actually, I guess I should qualify that. He was knocking boots with the gal around the first part of the movie. As the movie goes on it appears that the wronged wife is getting the better of him. Transferred all of his money out of his accounts into hers, he hired someone to kill her, the girlfriend stole the car and the guy who had been hired to kill the wife ends up killing the girlfriend.

  118. Margaret said

And yes Linda. Thats the part I’m talking about. Whatever Alexander is saying, he’s mumbling it. At first I thought it was Henry saying it but I was wrong.

  119. Linda said

lwildstar I wish I had more discipline when it comes to writing. I always start out with good intentions.. .I read somewhere that it takes a month to form a habit.

ten weeks actually – but I’ve been writing on and off for years – this is just the first time I’ve stuck with something – once I got started and really got into it – well the story just kinda took over – I’m chapters ahead in my mind – I just have to get it down on paper!

ok resident computer techies – (my Sisgter) says she can’t get Vista to talk to her Lexmark printers or her picture printer – any clues?

Your sister will have to download a print driver from Lexmark for the Vista operating system. This link will take you to Lexmark and the Vista driver page.

What brand is the picture printer? You’ll need to download the drivers for Vista as well for the picture printer.

Oh the joys of switching to a new operating system!
    Good Luck!!!!

Go Linda! It is never too late to start writing for fun (and maybe some day for fame and glory?) I started just a year ago and have 15 short stories mostly finished and 4 novels started. I try to write for at least 2 hours every week. I have been “editing” for a couple of people – including wildstar – and enjoy that nearly as much as writing my own.
Now, if only I could write as fast as my brain “hears” the stories. sigh

If you have something started and want some feedback there are several ways to share writing, and some of them are password protected. If you want to read some of our stuff let us know and we can direct you to some of the stories that have been posted by authors from this blog. πŸ™‚

  132. laurel said

Oh – Way to go Claire! You are a great mom!

  133. rifkind said

I sure wish that I could get words on paper as fast as I think them up…
    I have the same problem!

  134. Annalaise duChat said

Anzia — Bummer. Why do they always do these things around the holidays? Look at the bright side new year, new job, new start. right? Have confidence things will work out.

Rifkind –I have the same problem with getting the words on paper. Either that or I come up with great ideas when I’m no whee near a pencil or paper, and by the time I am i’ve forgotten what I wanted to write.

By the way watch for a couple new chapters to be posted sometime over the weekend. I’ve almost got them ready.

  135. rifkind said

I carry a small notebook in my purse… so that I can jot down stuff.
The hard part is getting the full stories in my head down on paper…
Darned WORK keeps getting in the way!!
    That’s why it’s a 4-letter word! LOL!

  136. rifkind said

    Laurel and Linda,
It makes sense that the book that I found for Annalaise was a compilation of the best-of-the-best articles from Writer’s Digest magazine. Like I said, I was focusing on content as I looked for a book.. and this book seemed to distill some of the most important information for a new author.

On that note, I agree with Laurel that there are hundreds of books out there on writing and authorship.. you could spend ALL your time reading and never actually get to writing.
I’ve taken classes at college and community education, read TONS of books, and twiddled away 19 years …getting ready to become an author.
It wasn’t until meeting all the great Ladies here that I got around to actually WRITING.. (Thank You All for being such a wonderful inspiration!)

So read a few books or magazines… I started with books from the library and then IF the book had something important to say, THEN I went looking to purchase it… of course books at 1/2 Priced books get purchased, if they look like a good source of information πŸ™‚
When reading books, look at WHO the author is.. WHO ARE THEY? An author, or agent, or in-the-business? Do you like the work that they have written? Some books are about about their life story and HOW they ended up becoming a celebrated author.. (Stephen King) and along the way, the book will tell you about their own personal work style. Which has obviously worked for THEM.
If you want to write in a certain genre, maybe look for books about or by authors in the same genre. Someone writing Science fiction / Fantasy will have be different from someone writing in the Romance area or Children’s books.
Can you imagine someone reading a HOW-TO book on Romance and then trying to write a Western?? NOPE.
Each How-To book will have a few gems that stick. In the end, each person will need to find their own way to get the words on paper. Use what works for you and leave the rest.. that’s all that matters..
Find the story in your heart that absolutely HAS to be told… and let it come to life!
    Pens Away Ladies!

  137. Annalaise duChat said

The nice thing about the book you got for me is that it deals with all the differant genres.
Giving advice specific to each by a writer that specializes in that area.

wow– You ladies are certainly inspiring! Laurel, I may take you up on that offer.

Rifkind is right, it is so easy to spend all your time on reading all the “How to Write” stuff and not actually doing it. Also, I just like reading…

Susanna and Anzia I am so sorry about your job woes. I hope you find something soon and may it be way better than the one you have now!

Also, ladies, if you have time, animalrescuesite.com needs people to go to their site and click for food. Their advertisers give them food for every click to their site. (there is a button that says click for food) So if you have a chance to do that…Thanks much!

Danae I don’t know how to set one up. If you tell me how, I will give it a try. I would love a nice henry avatar.

Dani – your avatar question – I’ve noticed that too – but I can see mine – but others will be missing – I think its a wordpress issue

and since we’re disscussing all this writing – check your emails over the weekend if you get the chance – I finally got up the nerve to “share” my story with all of you (A few have seen bits and pieces) I set up a wordpress site and the story will be password protected – thats why I’ll be sending it via email rather than posting the info here.
I wold like to Thank Laurel for her time and patience with helping me to edit! Thank you! and to everyone else for all their support!

now since I snuck over here to check in I must scaddle before I get caught!

    Where did everybody go?
E – Thursday or Friday, either works for me!

Linda – as for writing I started a year ago by picking a sci/fi fantasy writer that I adore and practicing writing my own characters in her world. They have to abide by the same rules as her characters and have only minimal contact with any of hers. It has been fun to do that because then I didn’t have to start with making up all the rules of a completely new world/universe. If nothing else it entertains me and a few of my friends who are also fans of this author.

If you are interested there are even a few fan-fic pieces written by ladies on this blog, with our favorite BT personalities staying in character – almost like getting new episodes that only play in your head. Some are password protected so you’ll have to get permission to get into them.

Laurel – Thursday works best for me. Let me know if that poses a problem for you. I’ll give you a call tomorrow and we can firm up plans πŸ™‚

I get to start physical therapy today. The doctor seems to feel that it can help speed up the healing and reduce this ugly swelling in my leg. At this point I am pretty much willing to try anything. Limping around and being in constant discomfort is not my idea of fun. It is putting a damper on my christmas spirit and shopping!!

Anzia – Sweetie I am so sorry about the job news. I do know that all the support you have here and the prayers and good wishes coming your way will definately aid you in finding something terrific.

Susana – it definately sounds like it is time to change jobs! I sometimes have to shake my head when I hear company’s ideas of a “bonus” . My company doesn’t do anything for the holidays. Oh wait, I just lied….some of the VP’s get together and provide turkey and ham and we employees are expected to bring a dish for the “celebration”. Upper management doesn’t even show up to this event – the Admin’s get to put it all together in the auditorium. Guess what I skipped this year?

annalaise, rifkind, lwildstar – keep writing ladies. I am anxious to read what you have done!

  155. Danae — My avatar is blank because sometimes I neglect to log in. My bad.

Elizabeth — Thanks for the encouragement.

Linda — I have 19 Chapters to my story posted at the web site linked behind my name. It is an original story with my own original characters. I hope some day to submit it to a publisher.

I started writing it back in June just after BT ended. It was my therapy to deal with the summer hiatus and now its an obsession. I am now very serious about finishing it. I write most every night from 9:00 until about midnight. My chores and responsibilities are all done and its my time. (Although the lack of sleep is starting to take its toll.) LOL

You’re welcome to read it if you like. Go to the site and post a comment and I’ll email you the password.

  156. laurel said

E – I think tomorrow will work out just fine. I told Steve I still had shopping to do for him, which is true. I have an idea for what to get so we can accomplish my little bit of shopping pretty easily. He has meetings in the morning so we can start as early as you want.
I hope the wind and rain settle a bit by then. I’m a little concerned that I may lose power at any moment today. yikes!

‘laise – You and wildstar and Rifkind are all writing at a speed I can hardly believe! I am feeling a little behind. πŸ™‚ I so many different stories going at once but they seem to be taking turns. My goal is to get at least one of my short stories included in an anthology hosted by a certain author. I have a window of about two years before another one is published.

Just thought I’d share a news story I found on AOL. I mean sure, you’re not supposed to take knives to school, but give me a break! It was for lunch. I swear…I just don’t know what the world is coming to these days.

10–year-old arrested for cutting her lunch with a knife
Posted Dec 18th 2007 4:04PM by Sandy Maple
Filed under: Teachers, Elementary school, Public school, 10-12 years

In yet another example of zero tolerance run amok, a 10-year-old girl in Ocala, Florida is facing felony weapons charges for bringing a steak knife to school.

“She did not use it inappropriately. She did not threaten anyone with it. She didn’t pull it out and brandish it. Nothing of that nature,” explained Marion County School Spokesman Kevin Christian.

No, she was using it to cut the steak she brought for lunch. A few alert teachers noticed the utensil and confiscated it before calling authorities. “Anytime there’s a weapon on campus, yes, we have to report it and we aggressively report it because we don’t want to take any chances, regardless,” Christian said.

Report it, sure. Suspend her for a few days, okay. But charge her with a felony for possessing a weapon on school property, even though she clearly had no intention of using it as a weapon? I just don’t understand how this benefits anyone in any way.

We recently had a bomb scare at my daughter’s high school. After the bomb squad got there a student, who was being escorted from a locked-down room, looked back to where the squad was setting up a detonation box and said “You might want to rescue that box of Christmas gifts for flood victims before you blow anything up. We worked hard to raise the money for those.”
Of course, that was the suspect package. If anyone had looked they would have seen that the box was labeled.
    It was a near miss.
Sometimes there seems to be no room for common sense.

  162. Danae said

Oh for crying out loud what is this world coming to. It’s like we can’t go anywhere with out fearing for our lives.

  163. It’s pretty sad when you can’t even cut your d#$% steak. *sigh*

I had to deal with that packing lunches for my Melanie last year. She has braces so she can’t bite into an apple or a piece of fruit. If you pre-slice them they turn brown by lunch time even if you drown them in lemon juice. So what are you supposed to do? I ended up cutting one of those apple slicers and packing that in her lunch box. Although mytbe that could be misconstrued and taken for a weapon as well. “Teacher she threatened me with an apple slicer. Wah!”

  164. Danae said

I believe someone out there would do that.

Merry Christmas to me, huh?

I also get to go see a physical therapist in a couple of hours. Let’s pray he/she is gentle with me or you will be getting word I am in jail for punching someone out for hurting me. Sheesh, I really am not as cranky as I am sounding – really…. you believe me, don’t you?

I’m looking forward to peeking in and reading some of the writing that has been going on by this amazing bunch of creative writers. I really enjoyed reading the writing during summer. I haven’t looked at any of your writing since Sept. I’m sure there’s some captivating stories just waiting to be read! Maybe I can squeeze some in during this short break.

I’m still swamped with the last couple of days of school. Struggling to find parent drivers for our fieldtrip to release our salmon, finishing our cool scarf activity and research report. Whew! Come on Friday……..

Certainly looking forward to the Holiday Party with the Portland BT contingent!!!!!Yeah!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the kind words.
As I said, I think that the plot and chapter outline that we finished last weekend will be a good start on forward movement on the book.
Hubby has the Christmas week off.. so hopefully we can get some chapters going again!

  188. himmiefan said

    Rifkind – great! πŸ™‚

Dani – well, given recent events, or non-events from Lifetime,I’m going to have to put my thinking cap on and revise our plot. Fortunately, I’m on vacation starting tomorrow (after I complete my big project), so I’ll have time to think over Christmas.

Elizabeth and Annalaise – have a great vacation and safe travels!

Hmmm. You know, our movie might just have a certain VP at Lifetime as really being a demon in disguise. Hmmmm.

Not to mention the lovely cards – thank you all.

I’m afraid the card thing went over my head until too late, so expect Valentine’s cards from me instead. And secret Santa giftee – I’m afraid you got stuck with a hopeless procrastinator …

    Buongiorno bellas.

Animal?! Are you from the Muppets? HEHE!

Today is our holiday luncheon. Woohoo! Free food. It already smells good in here.

I am sorry I didn’t say a good night last night. We had our last sales meeting of the year and everybody that was involved in the promo was put in a raffle for gifts. I won a Sony DVD player. I really wanted the IPOD Shuffle. I can’t complain though. It is a pretty sweet machine and when I say sweet I mean wicked awesome.

My car is giving so much freakin trouble. I wish I had won a car. I need new spark plugs and my father is being so nonchalant about it. Grrrr! He really annoys me sometimes.

Someone a while ago suggested doing one of those stories where we all add a line or a section or a paragraph or so. I think we should do that via email. Who agrees?

  201. Himmiefan said

    Good morning Ladies,

Just wanted to sneak in and say Hi…I am trying to take off work all next week, so the rest of this week is going to be relatively… horrific.

Animal left a rather cryptic post, obviously from the subsequent discussion, no one else knows what it means either. Oh well…

I hope I can check in later.

well f****ng fa la la la Christmas…sorry I’m in a mood – I got the end of year “happy” letter NOT this year – I got a letter saying there will be no extra money – it acctually says “you are entilled to $00.00 incentive for the last quarter” WTF! why bother with the letter – they could have emailed me that…oh it gets better – we only get one days pay as a “bonus” and they take taxes out!

on top of that – people got hungry and started eating the food for this afternoons party…you know what – I JUST DON”T CARE!

ok breathing deeply – thinking of Henry, pretty rainbows, Henry, flowers, Henry no shirt……..thats better – but I’m still insulted

I got my SS gift! thank you! I needed that!!!!!!

May I suggest we offer the welcome mat first and see who shows up?

Animal – Nice wordpress site. We’ve had a couple of unfriendlies stop by and are not wanting to have that experience again.

    Hi all!

Sorry I haven’t been around much. Damn work and all. We have to get Friday’s, Monday’s and Tuesday’s work done before we can leave here tomorrow. SO FAR we’re looking OK.

Congratulations on the DVD player. We still haven’t been given our Wendy’s cards yet and no announcement thus far as to whether or not we get lunch catered tomorrow. Probably not, because there are only 11 of us now.

I’m not opposed to doing a story like that if everyone else is willing.

Hope you had a good time at the concert last night. Enjoy vacation.

    ((((((((HUGS)))))))) dear. It’s OK!

    You’re welcome.

You gave me a little laugh about the key chain.

I feel like I am missing stuff and if I have I’m sorry.

Question…… Is tomorrow going to be like our blog Christmas party? Is everyone going to try to stop by?

Id really like to know….I had a big mess to clean up this morning becasue I had only been given half the instructions on Friday – then when I got an email this morning saying fix it – i didn’t understand what I did wrong becasue there was no explaination – so I emailed back asking for clarification – what does the b* do – she emails my team leader! who then comes over and jumps allover me for not doing my job right – ggrrrrrr….I politly told her that I would have done it correctly (which I did right in front of her) if I had been given the directions from the start – she backed down then…what a way to go into the holidays!

sorry just after that horrible party I needed to vent… 😦

Wildstar — sorry about you party and your lack of bonus.

Scribbles! Always good to have you check in with us. I hope your holiday season is wonderful and joyous! You are always welcome to just drop by.

Okay, just so you know, I’m not the only one who didn’t know the bat keychain was a light. I spent the afternoon with Elizabeth and happened to mention that I had just found out about it from Anne’s post. E whips hers out of her purse and presses the button and… darn near blinds herself! LOL
I love it! Thanks again Madonna!

btw – E is really hobbling around pretty well. It is obvious that her leg is very painful still and very swollen. She was on her way to a Physical Therapy visit after I took her home and asked if I would bail her out of jail if she “beat up” the therapist. ???? She was going to warn him not to hurt her or she would hurt him back! I got no call from the police station so I assume there was no incident at the clinic. Wheeew.

Rifkind I know that song. Amber and I love it. We have been singing it and my brother has been going crazy because he had never heard it before then on the way to bringing Amber to school it came on the radio and he started cracking up and saying it IS a real song.

Merry Christmas to you to Scribble. We hope everyone from Blood Ties will be back in the new year.

I am getting more and more depressed about not being able to go to MegaCon. MamaClaire and I are really going to have to come up with some bangarang plans that weekend to make up for it. Grrrr! It sucks!

Everybody is getting there Secret Santa gift but me. BooHoo.

I know my girl got hers. That is good because my dad used Priority Mail and the last time I used that the package didn’t get there until April when I sent it out before Christmas. When she got it, it was all dusty and trashed. I was worried my Secret Santa recipient wouldn’t get it.

    Good Morning all!!!

Today is my last day till Jan 2nd. Yippy!!! I have to take the last of my comp days but that is okay cause I need the time off. I haven’t had any since I came back from Maternity leave. They made me burn all of my vacation to stay home with the baby ( i only got 6 weeks off but Maddies DR didn’t want her to go to baby sitter till she was at least 12 weeks since she was early and born in Jan) so I haven’t had any time off. But since I worked from home threw most of my maternity leave they gave me a week worth of comp days and I am taking them now.

Anyway, just wanted to pop on and tell everyone what a wonderful time I have had this year. You guys are the best group anywhere and mean the world to me. I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season. For those of you traveling I hope you travels are safe and calm. I also want to wish you all the best in 2008 and have a SAFE happy New Year’s.

WIllow loved it…and I did finally get to hear the whole song.

I would love to go to Comacon…I mentioned to the husband…(who rolled his eyes..and said “Geek fest”) Which is what he called our weekend in VA…LOL

Happy Holidays! You are the most wonderful friends a gal could have, and I am grateful for each and every one of you.
You have lifted me up and made me feel whole.

Whether you are here in person or not I can feel the hug from 1000s of miles away. I’m not distracted at all. Well maybe from work. I have no drive to get any work done.

I want all of you to know that this is the best Christmas I have had in as far back as I can remember. I always have a great Christmas but I always felt something was missing. You ladies have filled that hole and even the one left by my grandfather’s passing. I thought this Christmas would be very hard to get through because of the first Christmas without him. It was his favorite holiday I think. With you guys I feel full of love. Thank you so very very much.

Good morning! Feels earlier than it is because I slept in late and I’m still in my robe. Today is the first official day of my Christmas vacation, so I’m entitled, right? I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to visit here and I see we’ve added Linda. Welcome Linda!

Scribble, good to see you as well. Hope you enjoy your holiday and that we hear some good news from your camp in January.

Anne – that new show – Guardian looks like it is going to be a good one. Thanks for sharing the link.

Danae – love your little Henry icon. You did a good job cropping, but I can’t tell what scene you got it from. Do tell…

wildstar – hope you’re feeling better soon dear. It’s the pits to be under the weather this time of year.

Rifkind – now I’ve got that song stuck in my head – thanks!

Well, I’m off to put the finishing touches on the decorations and do a little light cleaning before the folks start coming over this weekend.

have a good vacation maddie mo!

I got an explaination today as to theno bonus thing – we didn’t do as well in th 4th quearter as they expected so only those who worked on new buisness got a little something $ – ok sounds reasonable – I was just insulted by the letter saying you get $00.00 ……I never expect anything but that was just like a slap in the face, especially becasue when I was handed the envelope the team leader said “I bet you were waiting for this”…excuse me she s the one who allocates the money – she knew it was 0! sorry but things like that get on my nerves….

well since this may possibly be the last day until after the holidays that some of us may get a chance to blog I just want to let you know how much each and everyone of you have meant to me. There were days I don’t think I would have made it through if not for your love and support….each of you are near and dear to my heart and I feel blessed that I met you…..
ok enough of the mush fest….HUGS!!!!!!

  240. Danae said

Thanks Tango. I tried very hard to crop that just right. It is from Wrapped after one of Henry’s dreams.

Haha funny! I accidentally typed creams instead of dreams. I, of course, went back to fix it. Don’t need to give prtfvr any fuel to make wisecracks. πŸ˜‰

  241. Danae said

OMG! I can just tell this is going to be the best Christmas ever. My mom just called and one of the foster kids, Genny, my parents used to take care of is up from FLA where she lives now visiting her grandmother and she is staying my parents for a few days. I can’t wait to see her. She and her twin brother Harry left my parents when they were three or four and she is 14 now. I can’t wait to see her. This is so exciting. I can’t help but think things will get better from here on out.

  242. Maddie Mo said

Danae, That is awesome. It will be good to get to see Genny this year. It’s cool they still come to see your parents. Dale and I have thought about fostering, I really would like too. Dale is afraid it will be too hard on me if they have to go back to their parents or get moved on. I think it would be a great opportunity to make a difference in the world. Your parents are wonderful for doing it.

  243. Danae said

My parents did it since I was 9. A few years ago it all started going downhill. It you ask me in the end it isn’t worth it. I know that sounds cynical but the people in command started treating my parents like crap. They seemed to be in it for themselves and didn’t care what happened to the kids. Things could be different where you are but chances are they won’t be that different. It is very rewarding but when you are treated like criminals yourself it just doesn’t seem to pay. It got so bad that they threatened to take Amber away from my parents. She was one of their foster children at one time. They adopted her.

  244. Tango said

Danae – this is going to be a special Christmas for you with Genny coming to visit. Is Harry not coming with her? I think fostering children is such a wonderful gift, and I applaud your parents for committing to do that. Bill and I had thought about doing that too, but I am on the road so much and it wouldn’t work out. We do something similar to fostering with an organization called The Big Oak Ranch (for girls) and have a girl, Melody, who comes and stays with us one weekend a month. It’s much like Big Brother/Big Sisters type thing. Maddie Mo – you might want to check into doing something like that. Mel has been with us for 3 years now and she turned 16 this year. She has been such a blessing in our lives.

  245. Danae said

I am sorry to sound cynical about it. If there is one thing I am cynical about it is that. I would hate to see someone else get treated like trash as my parents were. The Department of Children and Families was complaining about the shortage of good foster parents they had but the few good ones they had they slandered about. It really pissed me off. I still think my parents should have sued them.

  246. Danae said

Harry stayed in FLA this year. There is a total of five kids in there family, Randy is the oldest, Amanda, Genny, Harry, and Savannah. Genny and Amanda came up this year. They can’t afford for all the kids to come at one time. I think Amanda must be 16 or 17 this year. All the kids were split up when in foster care. One family had Randy and Amanda and we had Genny and Harry. They were 5 months when they came to us and they left when they were 3 or 4. Sometime around there Savannah was born and she went to stay with the family that had Randy and Amanda. That family ended up adopting all 5 plus they had several of their own. Genny and Harry and Amber were the only ones that we really got attached to. Hundreds of kids went through my parents house but these three we really had a connection with. It is like recognizing them from a past life. If this family hadn’t adopted Genny and Harry my parents would have.

Here is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It’s so obscure you hardly ever hear it anymore. It makes me feel kinda young again and the little cartoon with this is really cute as well.

Well, I’m getting ready to leave. I will miss you all so much this week. i will try to check in from home computer, but I’m on dial up and that sucks big time ( and not in the good Henry kind of way). We just had our Holiday Feast at work! I am so stuffed! There’s a guy who rents meeting space from us for when he needs a place to meet clients. He’s a mortgage broker and works out of his cell phone. But sometimes he needs to meet with people and he needs a place to meet with them. We also collect his mail for him. He’s really nice and is special in my heart because he has 3 wienie dogs that he brings into our office to visit. Anyway, as a “thank you” each year, he brings in all this food for us, and today was the day. We had cold shrimp and dips, hot BBQ chicken wings, fruit (mangos and strawberries) and chocolate dip, brocolli salad w/raisens and nuts, and cream puffs. Plus doggies begging for any sucker willing to feed them. Oy! I may never eat again.

Vicki- (((HUGS))) *hands over a tissue* It’s okay. We understand. ^_^

So, i have an interview with Farmers Insurance Group on Jan. 3rd at 1pm. I am in the process of setting one up with Bankers Life & Casualty. I have not heard a THING from the original financial consulting firm (Waddell & Reed). *sigh* onward i trudge I guess…

OOOooo I made my boss mad *AGAIN* today. Second time in three days. I’m on a ROLE! 1st time was because I didn’t do something she told me not to do. Yup, i mean that EXACTLY as it’s written. So, she shoved a whole nother project on me to finish before I leave on TOP of telling me I had to finish the one I was working on. SO, being a true Anzia (as if i couldn’t be right?) I finished part 1 of the projects in a day and about 2 hours. Part two took me a day and about 2 hours and part three is gonna take me about another full day. BUT she gave me ANOTHER project to START before I leave…*smacks forehead* anyway. NOT why she’s mad. She got mad b/c 1) she told everyond i’d DONE the second project when i hadn’t (cause she told me NOT TO! Stupid woman) and 2) because she said I told her I had finished with it. That was Wed. Today she got mad because I’d entered in data wrong. Interesting thing is, i entered it EXACTLY like she was. When she asked me why that’s what I told her. Well, i eventually changed my method because i realized what she had been doing was stupid and was going ot mess her numbers up. So, she asked me why I changed it and I told her: Because I realized that they way you’d been doing it was going to mess up the numbers so I came up with a way that said what you’d been entering and still kept the numbers correct. WRONG answer. Her face almost went maroon. SO GLAD i’m gone after next week! They seriously couldn’t pay me enough to stay. Even IF they paid off all my school loans, bought me a new car and gave me a 5 dollar raise…um…well.. okay i’d stay for a tiny bit until I got a new better job. BUT it wouldn’t be perminant! πŸ˜‰

    Hi everyone,

In case you are interested, there is a show on the History Channel right now, called Vampire Secrets. It is about the origins of vampire legend and lore. It is on from 10:00 to 12:00 cst.

Vicki – what a sweet post. I feel the same way too. Love you too girlfriend! What would our little clan be without it’s own Diva? I shudder to think! ((((Hug))))

Z – I am not familiar with Banker’s Life & Casualty, but I do know of Farmer’s and have a couple of friends that work for them. Farmer’s is a good company to work for from what I’ve been told. What positions are you interviewing for?

My head is spinning after reading about that incident with your boss. (Could be from the meds I’m on, but who knows.) What a moron. You know there seems to be one like her no matter where you go. (My current company excluded – well ok, there is one, but he is the so high up that I really don’t have to deal with him.) Glad you’re not going to have to deal with her much longer. I’ll be praying for you to find something excellent, making more money that you expect!

prtfvr – sorry dawlin’ ~ won’t be around New Year’s Eve. That is Bill & my dating anniversary and we are going to one of my favorite restaurants which happens to be closing it’s doors forever and that’s their last night so they are throwing a big shindig.

Ok, you know the joy of gift giving? Well, I went shopping yesterday – during work, no less – and I bought my husband the BEST gift. He was at my office when I was coming back and I SO wanted to give him his gift but he told me to be patient and wait until Christmas. Darn his logic! It’s stuffed in my bedroom closet right now beneath a mound of artsy fartsy decorative bed pillows. Need to get my butt in gear and wrap it. Perhaps I’ll stay out of bed long enough to do that soon!

Still dying to know what my Secret Santa thought of her gift! I know that I loved it! Actually, I have something similar so I’m hoping that she doesn’t already have one too!

No Claire on email, she MUST be busy!

Peace, love and good will to all my BT Sistas!

So, from what i’ve pieced together…i would be selling plans to companies. Which could mean trouble since i need a new car and that would force me into doing something I can’t afford to do. *shrugs* I won’t know anything for sure until the 3rd.

I do appreciated everyones prayers and thoughts. It’s just amazing to know i have this entire force behind me. A new and wonderful thought! THANKS!

Z- My suggestion to you would be get on the net and research both companies so that you can dazzle them with your knowledge about their company during the interview. You may also want to check with your own agent and ask them questions. I am sure they will be willing to give you insight tha may be helpful. I use to sell Property & Casualty (auto & home) insurance which is what Farmer’s does and I currently sell the financial products like the 401(k)s, life, etc., so feel free to ask any questions about any of these. With any luck, maybe there will be a company car. I’ve sent my boss an email to see if there are any openings with American Fidelity in WI. He may not get it till Wednesday, but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear something.

Claire, glad that you were able to check in with us. Hope you are off enjoying Christopher’s birthday even as we chat.

Susana – so good to see you stranger! Your catering business must be off the hook right now with all the holiday parties. I don’t see how you do it all with your nursing job, the catering and the family. Make sure you don’t burn that candle at both ends for too long. You’ll burn out!

The Portland gang had a lovely afternoon/evening yesterday and actually remembered to watch a couple of episodes.
Let me just say, Nisi’s hubby is awesome. He hung out with us for quite a while and then left us to drool over the show.
Nisi makes great BarBQ beef with home-made sauce, among other things. Yummmmm!

Of course we ate way too much sugar.
    We missed all of you.

  284. msgypsy said

The Portland Gang missed me, too, although I was there early on. But the dinner party I went to later was a lot of fun, despite the lack of 5 year old (I’m trying to see her tomorrow morning) and the sight of Ian, my friend’s husband who just left the Army after 17 years, petting a teeny stuffed turtle (tie-dye, even) was just too delightful. (Yes, that was, in fact, something given to him last night…)

Anyhow, I got home around 1 AM, slept today until noon, then joined some friends to see the latest “National Treasure” movie. (I love those movies and am thrilled that there’s clearly going to be a third!) And now I have to go dog sit the elegant (!) and cuddly 70-80 pound Miss Shelby. I do need a life, really I do. I’m always busy but never accomplishing anything!

  285. Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!!! We had so much fun together! It was grand to laugh and laugh and laugh and of course drool. We certainly did eat a bunch, as well!

I came home to open my Secret Santa present!!!!!! Ummmmmm!!!Yum!!! I wish that I’d had it for yesterday to share with the P-land gang I’ve a pic. when we post our special treasures! I love my SS!!!!!!! Lucky me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve still got to finish being the santa around here! See ya

I’m jealous of you Portlanders. Why couldn’t you be Birminghamians? I’m glad you had such a nice time together. And what’s this with a Northerner making BBQ? Nisi, are you a Southern girl at heart?

I’m in the process of downloading We’ll Meet Again from iTunes. This is the second to the last epi. One of the two that they only aired online. Deep Dark still hasn’t shown up. I’m still pumped up by Kyle’s words of encouragement. Again, thanks Anne for relaying the good news!

Well, another day has come to a close. This one was packed full of festivities and my company left just a couple of hours ago. The dirty dishes will be waiting for me tomorrow morning when I arise, then it’s a little cooking and then it’s off to do some last minute shopping that my husband just sprang on me… then it’s through the valley and over the mountain to visit cousins, followed by candle light service and forced family fun with the in-laws. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.

  287. Anzia said

Susana- have the clothes. i’m not entirely comfortable doing that though. My uncle gives me crap for this but I really don’t want to get a job because even though the other applicant had a resume that equalled out to mine I was able to show more cleavage. I won’t do it. As a matter of fact, the pink shirt I wear w/the black “suit” (it’s pants and a jacket that happen to match but weren’t bought together…by ANY means) gets another shirt put underneath it for just such a reason. *shakes head* it’s a personal hang-up of mine. Something it should probably get over (’cause i have no problem showing off cleavage…NONE at all… any other time) but not sure how w/o feeling icky during an interview.

Tango- Definitely will look the companies up. Thanks for the recon! I just don’t know how to fit that kind of thing INTO an interview. EVERY “profession” interview i’ve ever had (*scoffs* yeah…all 2 of them) has been either a lovely fiasco of fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants thinking & truth or speed interviewing while on a major dose of uppers. (NOT THAT I WAS ACTUALLY ON DRUGS DURING THE INTERVIEW…that’s just what it seemed like it al lhappened so fast!)

In all seroiusness, my job not becoming perminant was probably a good thing (as ya’ll have pointed out) but for a different reason other than my boss is a moron studying to be an idiot. If they’d offered me the position I’d have stayed w/o any thought to what else was out there. I seriously haven’t had to work very hard for EITHER of my two “professional” jobs. They just kind of came along. And i’m too terrified of the sheer total of my bills each month that i don’t think past the prospect of being able to cover them. oi… the psychological minefield that is me…bet ya’ll are glad ya got stuck w/ME for a blood sister! πŸ˜‰

off to enjoy my bollywood hunks & sleep…

OH and the nasty dream-o-meter went off the charts the other night. I can count how many times i’ve woken up scared from a dream one one hand. Two nights ago made twice. I had a dream that a huge black dog (seriously teh size of a pony) dragged my brother out of the car we were in & he was driving and killed him. In true slasher / horror film manner too. I wanted NOTHING more than to call him and see if he was okay. NOT GOOD! … although it gave me an idea for a character… It was freaky REALLY freaky!

    We’ll Meet Again on iTunes…

    I don’t have an iPod, or a Mac 😦

It would be so great to see the episodes without all the pauses and waiting for more to download.
I have so many problems with the Lifetime Video site. 😦

Did any of you ever notice these problems:
1.) I can never Pause it and then get the video to restart. I always end up giving up and restarting the entire video segment.

2.) If I missed something and just want to re-play the last bit to see what was said, I’ve tried moving the control back just a few seconds to have it replayed.. It never works for me.. because of the way Lifetime does the video.. as in it never really DOWNLOADS even to a temp file on your computer.. I think it is some kind of streaming video… it doesn’t allow the easy replay.. even on DSL, it is like the video has to reload the entire segment to the point that I wanted to re-watch. Very frustrating.
I guess that I get spoiled by how short videos download with YouTube where you can replay it easily.

For those of you who use iTunes, I may email you some dialogue questions from the last two episodes that are available only online.

  295. Arrowyn said

Merry “whatever you are celebrating” everyone. Since the “eating season” is upon us – I thought I’d dig this out and pass it along… Enjoy!

    1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they’re serving rum balls.

    2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. it’s rare. You can’t find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It’s not as if you’re going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It’s a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me Have two. It’s later than you think. It’s Christmas!

    3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That’s the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

    4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they’re made with skim milk or whole milk. If it’s skim, pass. Why bother? It’s like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

    5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people’s food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

    6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year’s. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you’ll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

    7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don’t budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They’re like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you’re never going to see them again.

    8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don’t like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

    9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it’s loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

    10. One final tip: If you don’t feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven’t been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!”

    Have a great holiday season!

Merry Christmas Eve! Happy Christmakuh Eve! etc etc etc

I am beat. Sinus infection this time plus my high school reunion was this weekend. Saturday night was social night at Up Or On The Rocks in Hartford. I had four Malibu and Coke’s in 2 hours. Needless to say I felt horrible Sunday morning and I had to go to church like that. Last night was the formal part. Out of a class of about 260 only 80 showed up. How sad that? Surprisingly I had a good time. At first I was being shy and not socializing. Then I decided screw this, I am going to make the most of it. I was suprised that people who wouldn’t look at my twice in high school were inviting me to their places for New Years or to LA to visit them. Let me tell you it was quite an experience, veeeewy interesting. I am having a very hard time staying awake and we are going to Midnight Mass. Ugh!

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wished.

    And To My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Good for you Dear! You broke through the shyness and had a good time!
For me, it took the 15 year reunion before the HS clicks broke down enough for mingling of everyone, but then I went to a HS where our class size was around 700! You are to be congratulated for this big step! Now go have a great time for New Years, and save up for a trip to LA.. What fun!!!!

Your schoolmate’s eyes look alot like Christopher Lambert’s in one of his head shots. Maybe he could be cast with Christopher on something where they are supposed to be Father/Son

β€œLife should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming β€œWOO HOO what a ride!”

I agree, Life is a journey and NOT just the destination..

I can NEVER fully GET what is said when Henry is talking FLAP..
The writers must have had fun with it, but my ears just don’t hear all that is said!
I also missed a bunch of the conversation when Henry and Vicki were on that stake-out and he was talking about being shot and left in the dump.
It’s fun to watch Kyle doing those sections though. It looks like he has a good time and is so pleased to have mastered the double-speak! LOL!

Nope I haven’t watched “Vampire Secrets yet, but it is saved on my lovely TiVo.
I spent all day Saturday learning the writing software that we have owned for a long time, and then went through the tutorials. Storyview has many features that I never understood before, and many of them are NOT intuitive until you have seen them in action. When I just tried to jump into the software and start using it, I became lost.
Hubby also got me “Writer’s Dream kit” , and I installed it and walked through it. The software turned out to be a tool to help you in developing a story outline. I found it not too helpful when I already had the whole story plotted out in my head. I walked through the entire process only to discover that the tool is NOT for actually WRITING the story, just for creating the outline!! UGH!
That was another 2 1/2 hours of the day gone!
I have another software tool around here somewhere that I need to find again and install on my new computer, it was supposed to be useful for writing script format..
Don’t you just love it when you get a new computer?? Reinstalling everything!

Rifkind — Yes, the new computer is great, but re-installing everything is a b&^%h. I have a new powerbook from my office that they are letting me use. Anyway, I have to figure out how to transfer my iTunes library. That’s what I will be doing after the Holiday festivities, also setting up a word press account, getting an avatar…

Danae — Good for you for going and enjoying your high school reunion. I have always avoided mine. Maybe I will go next time…

    Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!

This has been the most special Christmas I’ve had in many years, thanks to all of you!

Maddie Mo, Laurel, Susana and Arrowyn, I’ve received your beautiful cards. Thank you!

    Good for you Danae!

This has been a relatively stress free holiday weekend for me. I got all my shopping and wrapping done early this year. Now I just have to help Mom do a little cleaning and cooking for tomorrow.

I will probably be around sometime tomorrow. It’s just my sister and her family coming over and they usually leave sometime between 4-7.

I’ll probably be around New Year’s Eve if I can stay awake that long.

Have a safe and happy Christmas Eve everyone.

I am SO SORRY I didn’t get that topic posted when I said I would. My computer was feeling overused (with good reason and all but still…) so I shut it down without doing the Secret Santa post and then yesterday I just never turned the computer on.

I apologize again. But on the plus side, Ian gets his copy of “The Raven is Calling” and can stop whining about it. (Ian is the husband of a friend of mine and he found out I owned the CD he wanted and would NOT give me a break all Saturday night! Well, except when he was petting his tie-dyed frog or beating up on his Army Voodoo Doll…)

And if anyone wants to watch “Better than Chocolate” I might be able to help out with that. (Working on “Max Havoc,” too, but that’s not as easy…

I’m not going to discuss what I was doing on my computer all day Sunday…

I hope that everyone else’s holiday travels were less eventful than my trip!

Last night a drunk driver pulled out into the road and was a hare’s breath away from smashing into the side of the van… then within 20 miles.. I looked up to see 3 deer walking across the road in front of us.. at 65 miles per hour, there was no chance that we were going to be able to stop in time. There was a space between the first 2 deer and the third one and we managed to dodge between them somehow. I still don’t know how we managed to avoid hitting the deer head-on. The last deer ran into the side of the van and was last seen spinning down the road. Poor thing! I hope that it was just dazed. I’ll have to take a look at the van tomorrow in daylight to see what damage was done. We are so lucky. Two near misses like that in less that an hour of driving..
All the way home tonight I was watching and watching for deer on the road. I’m so glad to be home safe and sound! Needless to say it was a nerve wracking 3 1/2 hour drive!

    Buongiorno bellas.

Not sure if this should be said but Happy Boxing Day Freyja.

Christmas was very nice being with family. Especially family that I haven’t spent Christmas with in years(my brother and his family). Amber had a hard time yesterday. She was overly tired from staying up late several nights in a row plus the letdown after the excitement of waiting for Christmas and then it is here and gone again. She couldn’t stop crying.

Rif thank God you are all ok. That must have been scary.

Yesterday a cop car and ambulance went whizzing up the street lights and sirens going. They stopped right at the top of the hill. I am not sure what happened but that is something you don’t want to see on Christmas.

Linda – You can ‘fire-wire’ your iTunes files to the new computer. Or you can set up an account on the new computer – with the free iTunes software download and be sure you “authorize” it to use the same account. Then transfer files like you would if you were backing up the files to an external hard drive.
I didn’t have any problem moving mine and I’m a total loss when it comes to computer stuff. I did the fire-wire thing.

I’ve had that same thing happen with the deer out here. I lost a tail-light and had to get the rear bumper repaired a couple of years ago when one cut back just when he would have been in the clear. I always wondered which of us was the most terrified by the experience, the deer or me with the two little girls in the car!
As bad as the deer are I am more afraid of the drunk drivers on the road. I guess your guardian angle was keeping up with you!

Danae, go get some rest! We’ll talk at you later.

Claire – I can almost picture you – standing in the eye of a hurricane – typing out a greeting on the computer just before the wind picks you up and carries you off through the house. You household sounds a little crazy but we can clearly see how much you love the bustle and joy of life your family provides.

Madonna – you need a nap too? I hope your day goes smoothly and quickly so you can go home and put your feet up. πŸ™‚ Yesterday was lovely and I got some things I really had only hoped for but not expected. Very thoughtful gifts, and lots of laughter.

Our office manager just let us know that we can wear jeans tomorrow and Monday – and Monday they are going to let us leave at 3! whoo hoo! provided we’ve finished with all the policy renewals for 1/1/08.

TTFN my dears – I’ll check in later!

I got this from a Google Alert. Has any gamer out there also been contacted or knows about this?

    Blood Ties Game
    Dec. 26th, 2007 at 10:04 AM

If this isn’t proof of the popularity of Blood Ties, I don’t know what is! I received an e-mail from RealArcade for a new game to evaluate. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get into the evaluation site (waiting for tech support to respond), so I haven’t been able to see what it’s about. If anybody else evaluates games for them, please check it out and let me know. Pass the word for any other game evaluators. I’ll try to post this on other BT sites as well.

    Blood Ties (43.5 mb)
Help private detective Vicki Nelson solve a series of unexplained missing persons cases that appear to be connected to a secret society. Is the connection real? Unearth hundreds of items in beautiful and unique locations throughout the city to discover the dark secrets behind this mysterious cabal.

To access the evaluation games, click on the RealArcade Game Eval tab in the Game Evaluation version of RealArcade or go to https://gameevaluation.realarcade.com

It looks like the person needs to review the FAQ for RealArcade. The problem could be with her cookie settings and temporary internet files.

I skimmed through the FAQ and I see :
You can sign up and evaluate the software.. getting it to work could require changing some settings on IE
There is a TIMER on the game. So you will only be allowed to play it fot 60 minutes
IF the game makes the cut, the game will be available SOON:
    From their FAQ:
Since the Game Evaluation process is intended to improve the quality of the games we publish, some games just don’t make the cut. For the ones that are good enough to be released, they will usually be available within one to two months after the evaluation is over.

    Hi y’all!

If you all haven’t looked there is a beautiful picture of Nisi over on the Secret Santa thread.

Mark this down because I don’t get to say it often. I’m getting off work 3 hours early today! Woo Hoo!!!!

Yesterday I did a lot more than go home and put my feet up. I simply had some leftovers and all but passed out.

Good luck on the review although I’m sure you don’t need it.

What kind of work do you do that you always have to be on call?

That was Teresa’s livejournal site that was posted earlier. Does everyone remember her? Anyone know why quit posting here?

  381. Danae said

No I don’t know why she quit posting here but I thought I remembered her.

  382. Linda said

Madonna — I was half joking when i said that. I am the office manager for a real estate development company. When i am out, there is no one there who can cover for me. Anyway my boss knows I am home this week, so if something comes up he really needs my help with, he will call or email. I hope this will be the only time!

I have to go out of town to truly get away. Speaking of which, are any of you going to Megacon? It sounds like it is shaping up to be really great. I think a weekend in Orlando in March might be just the thing to perk me up!

  383. lwildstar said

    Anyone home?

For those who care I posted chapter 8!

Laurel – I made a change or two after your edits…..

Off to hunt down some dinner – but I wanted to let Rif know I finished… πŸ˜‰

  384. rifkind said

Cool! I will read it right away!
    Thanks WildStar!

  385. lwildstar said

LOL! Rif how did I know you would be the first to respond!
Off to cehck the email to see what you’ve said πŸ˜‰

  386. laurel said

I figured I’d better check in. I’ve been writing all day and lost track of time. πŸ™‚ This time I’ve been working on my own story and I am really on a roll.
Unfortunately, that means I haven’t sent lwildstar the edits for the next two chapters of her book. I have to transfer them from my notes to the computer so that I can send them via e-mail.
    Sorry Rif. 😦

  387. Nisi said

Wildstar – who are you hunting down for dinner?

  388. Margaret said

Linda: I know Cheryl, me, Anne, possibly Madonna are going. If I’ve left anyone out please let Linda know. I think its going to be a blast. Probably be the first and last time I’ll do it so I’m going to make it worth my while. I told me mom about it and she said, yeah, I can only guess how thrilled those young men will be to see all those older women coming at them. lol. I just about fell out of my chair laughing. After all Henry did say: “Older women can be quite intoxicating”, now let’s hope Kyle and Dylan feel the same way.

  389. Margaret said

Cree lives in Apopka and will be coming, we’re just not sure what day/s.

  390. lwildstar said

    Ha! Nisi! LOL!!!
I wasn’t hunting any one – just trying to “rustle up” something other than leftovers…at least by doing the meal the way I did ther was very little in the way of leftovers – I think only two meals worth – I had one for lunch and couldn’t face the same thing for dinner…I found one last tortilla, and some cheese so I made a chickn roll-up (ok I used the leftover chicken). Now if that bag of cookies mom brought over would just stop call ing to me…
this is the second bag of cookies – I gave the first one away…shes not helping the diet any πŸ˜‰

anyway – Laurel – I forgive you – I want you to work on your stuff so I can start reading more!….now Rif my not be as understanding πŸ˜‰

  391. Linda said

Margaret — LOL!! Well, Kyle did say he liked his older women fans. Sounds like lots of fun and probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. After all, having Kyle, Dylan and Tanya, under one roof at the same time is amazing. It would also be great to meet ya’ll in person.

I am going to start checking airfares…

  392. lwildstar said

well the cookies won – I gave in – but I threw the bag in the freezer so they won’t tempt me anymore…
Well I havn’t heard from Rif yet Laurel – so I think you’re safe :0

  393. Margaret said

Linda: Please email me at margaret_32955@yahoo.com. RE: Hotel & Airline Info.

  394. lwildstar said

ok – well I still need to wash my hair and its getting late – so i’m out of here!

nighty night! sllep tight! I’ll see you in the morning! πŸ™‚

  395. lwildstar said

thats sleep tight – geeze you can tell I’m getting tired…

  396. rifkind said

I read the chapter once.. and was half way through the second time when we went off to dinner.. I will send you my comments after the second round.. I found a section or two confusing.. so maybe an additional sentence or two of explanation will help..

No worries.. you need to get your creative writing going too!

I’m off to finish reading chapter 8 of WildStars.. send her an email..
Then try and load more software.. and get some writing in too!

  397. rifkind said

    I always liked this song

  398. lwildstar said

I’m a bad bad girl – I couldn’t wait when I got Rifs email of edits and started on them as soon as I could –
lets just say its a good thing it dead here at the office this morning!

  399. rifkind said

Now don’t go getting yourself in trouble!
I sent a few more edits just now… and I am off to work.

  400. lwildstar said

Well now I have something to do at lunch!

    Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone had a great holiday. I hope you all got everything you wanted. I hope you all got to enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Wildstar — I got to read the first 5 chapters. I love it so far. You do excellent work.

Hey, I think we’re about due for another writer’s chat. What do you think ladies? Tonight 12:00 am EST? The Hen House? Any body else who want s to join in is welcome too. Read Wildstar’s story and we’ll have a book discussion about it. Sound like fun?

For those of you following Kieron I posted some revisions, and Chapter 20 is up also as I promised.

  402. Danae said

    Buongiorno bellas!

I unfortunately cannot afford to go to MegaCon and it is killing me. I can’t afford it. Somehow I am going to get myself to MamaClaire’s for the weekend. I may have to drive but it will be done. She can’t go either because there is no one to watch the quads. We are going to wallow in misery together. I am trying to talk Kelly into going with me.

I finally managed to get all my pictures I took uploaded. Here is a link to Ambers 5th birthday party slideshow I created. From there you can go to my other albums I think. If you can’t let me know.

  403. lwildstar said

Annalaise – are you seriously asking for a midnight chat tonight? I’d love to join but I might fall asleep by then – I’ll check in earlier and see if any one is around.
Thanks bunches – I’m glad you like the story so far.
Thanks to Rif I tweeked chapter 1 again and posted the changes to chapter 8 this morning……

Going out for lunch so I won’t get to work on any more edits till i get home tonight.
    Talk at you later

  404. Well we chat it earlier. What time would be good for everyone? 9:00pm? I just picked that time because that’s when we’ve chatted in the passed, but I guess there’s no BT anymore and no real reason it has to be at that time.

  405. Woah, sorry about the typos That should have been “we could chat earlier” and past not passed. Duh!

  406. Danae said

I was over at the Secret Santa thread. I loooove that picture of MamaClaire with her pillowcases. Wow do I envy her!

  407. lwildstar said

starting around 9pm my time (eastern) is good for me – I’ll go to thehen house around then and see who shows up.

Sexy mamaclaire! I’m going to use that picture to go with my cards…and ms. moonbeam….how pretty you look.
I got Annalaise and Nisi’s pics form that thread too….

    chat at you tonight!

  408. Danae said

Wildstar I didn’t have any pictures of me taken this year because I was the only one using a camera. I was behind it the whole time. I will have someone take one of me this weekend sometime.

  409. Danae said

Here are two more remixes of pictures.

    This is Christmas

And this is Chris’s baby shower

  410. Danae said

The one of Amber’s birthday I had to delete. I messed it up. I will fix and repost later.

  411. lwildstar~I’ll have you know that I had to quickly get my picture with my delicious bread because that was only half of it! The other half was long gone……man is that bread absolutely amazing….Definitely had to hide it and give the menfolk the word about eating it!!!!!!

I sure love seeing all of the pictures and hearing about all of the Secret Santa experiences!!!!

  412. Madonna said

You have a beautiful family, and Amber looked so excited. How is your sister and the baby doing. She still hasn’t delivered yet has she?

Don’t know if I’ll make the writer’s chat or not. For some reason I’ve been absolutely exhausted this past week and I haven’t passed up any opportunity to sleep when it comes my way.

  413. Danae said

Nope no baby and now I am really getting fidgety. He is no longer in danger. My sister says that the doctors fought so hard to keep him in at the beginning of the month he decided to stay in there. Thanks for checking.
