It totally bites that the Dresden Files got cancelled. I even taped the season finale so I could watch it before the new season started. Now I don’t even see the point. Weird. It doesn’t sound like Sci-Fi to hang themselves like that. Most of their shows don’t get yanked that easy. Again, weird. I would like to say I hope Flash Gordon would fall, but that’s not true. I’m so happy to see Gina on another show I’ll probably watch it anyways. Plus I have nothing to base my judgement on besides the movie, and that was SO beyond sad. Sadder still, I actually have that movie on tape. My Dad taped it back in the day. Who knows what he was thinking. *g* The only part I ever liked on that movie was the beginning. Me and a friend of mine used to joke about pressing all the disaster buttons at once. *eg*
Oh! To lwildstar and Anzia, I read you guys fics. To Anzia, YOU ROCK! Although, if Henry was tied to my bed, no way could I have resisted like that. I would’ve been all over him in about 2 seconds…hehe
Oh…checked out that Citytv.com site. I wanna know what’s up with that Henry nuzzling Vicki’s neck thing…and why I can’t substitute myself for Vicki there. *sigh* And what the heck is up with that big monster cat type thing? Here kitty kitty kitty…hehe

I didn’t realize that Dresden Files had been cancelled. That does suck…I really enjoyed the show and have started reading the books. I agree with vampgrl, Sci Fi doesn’t usually give up on their shows that easy.
On another sci-fi/beloved shows note: My sister heard that sci-fi is bringing back farscape in some form. Currently they are doing webisodes. I don’t know all the details…but that is good news for any Farscape fans. I only watched the show after the fact.

I was just over at the previous post reading about the postcards. Now, I’m no expert at all, but I wonder if at this point, that Lifetime has gotten the message and is now waiting to see what the ratings for the new episodes are like. I’m not saying to stop doing postcards – no, no, no, no. I’m just speculating here. Postcards talk, ratings talk even more.

I agree with you about the ratings. That will truly be the clencher. I think I read somewhere awhile back that Lifetime prez is thinking about building a night of fall programming around Blood Ties. This was back in June, but if true that spells good news for our show. It would be the centerpiece for that night of television. The way that Army Wives is the centerpiece for Sunday nights right now.

Good morning everyone. I will be checking in periodically while I try to tie up some last minute business before vacation. I wonder if Lifetime will do a marathon of the first episodes as an intro to the new season? It seems like a lot of channels do that nowadays. I also hope they put some advertising behind it this time so people know it is there.
I didn’t hear that Farscape may be back. I used to love that show…Ben browder is such a cutie! I am bummed about The Dresden files. I really liked that show.

Starting October 12, “Blood Ties” will be making its highly anticipated return with ten straight weeks of new episodes every Friday at 11 pm et/pt. If your new to the series (or just want a little refresher before season two) you can get full episodes online or through iTunes.
And we know the burning question on everyone’s mind is will Vicky and Henry quit beating around the bush and just hook up already? Guess you’ll just have to tune in to find out, no won’t you?!? (But we love hearing your predictions.)

Friday at 11? That is really late. It is a good thing that it isn’t a work night. They were also originally going to show 2 episodes a night for 5 weeks. They changed it to 1 show a night for 10 weeks. I don’t know about you guys but this sounds really good to me. It is also makes it appear that they have listened to some of our suggestions.

DebS – Yeah, I’m still feeling optimistic, yet impatient for the series to start filming again. If they stopped in April and started again in, say November, that would be seven months. Maybe that’s not bad in TV land. In Himmieland it’s forever!! If BT is renewed, I bet it will be featured in Lifetime’s winter promotion since it’s already part of their fall lineup. Now, I don’t know what’s up with the two episodes a night unless their trying to draw in the audience and have them sit through some of their other shows.

Where exactly did you find that announcement at?
I may be wrong but I actually think this is good news. True 11pm is a bit late, but it is a Friday and in terms of television programming Friday is better than Saturday.
Also, they are going to stretch the episodes out for 10 weeks instead of the 2 a night for 5. I’ll admit that that had me worried that they were planning on showing the remaining 10 and then dumping it. I think maybe they are trying their best to align it up with their schedule.

What are the chances SciFi could buy the entire first season, then purchase 22 more episodes? I know SciFi can be brutal to its shows, but at this point, it’s the best channel for this theme.
Another option could be the USA Network.

I’m not sure but I think the two a night thing may have referred to them showing the previous week’s episode in the preceding hour time slot. (E.g., Ep 14 at 11, and then the following week Ep 14 at 10 and Ep 15 at 11.) Does that make sense? It might not be what’s happening but it seems to me they were discussing this possibility.
Also, the two a day was possibly the entire first “season” to get everyone caught up.
Gotta go pretend to work now.

Madonna – it actually came on twice out here. Once at 7pm, which I always watched and then again at 10pm. Good thing it is programmed into my DVR – it won’t matter what time it comes on, it will just automatically record it.
Thanks, msgypsy, I just freaked for a moment. I am taking deep calming breaths 🙂 Torchwood looks like it might be interesting, so I programmed that in to record as well. I am a recent convert to Doctor Who, but I am enjoying it. I am also waiting to see some of the other shows that have been mentioned…Twilight, True Blood, New Amsterdam. If you know of any others – let me know. I love these type of programs.

11pm is late. But in recent years, paranormal shows have proven to do quite well on Fridays…Stargates, BSG (which did eventually move to Sunday, but started on Fridays), Ghost Whisperer, and Psych (loosely based in paranomal, the fake kind anyway). So, I am not suprised they have moved it to Fridays. But really, 11pm, that isn’t even primetime anymore, that is late night now.

Okay, me speculating again. I was just re-reading the announcement, and they acknowledge the use of DVRs. Interesting. You know, Nielsen is making changes to take into account DVRs, etc. So, maybe timeslots aren’t as much of a big deal anymore since viewing is much more flexible than it was years ago – pre VCR.

I went to see him when he toured and he is awesome, I believe in all this stuff , don’t laugh at me 😀 My mom and I went after my sister passed and of course you’re hoping for this great revelation but it was an auditorium full of people so the loudest spirit’s get through firtst I guess. I’m surpirsed because if you knew Kathy , the gemini she was a bit bitchy can I say.

O I am so looking on closure from my grandfather dying in January. We all know it wasn’t natural causes but my grandmother adamantly refused an autopsy. Also 6 years ago my mother’s Uncle Frank and cousin Frankie were killed at the hands of Frankie. I have not been the same since that happened. I have always wondered if Uncle Frank forgave Frankie.

Himmiefan: You’re not along, I still have a VCR to tape things with, the only new with it is that it does play DVD’s. Haven’t had a good enough cash flow to get one that converts the VHS tapes into DVD’s yet.

We know he had been going downhill for a few years, in and out of the hospital at least once a year for the past 4 years. He went in in December sometime and he was there for 7 weeks. The first night there his heart actually started to stop. My grandmother said she wasn’t ready to lose him so the hospital had to do everything in their power to keep him alive. They decided to put a pacemaker in so that week he had the surgery. Afterwards his whole left side was black and blue and no one even noticed until my mother saw it. He developed blood poisoning because it turns out the pacemaker was infected and defective. They took it out and were going to put a new one in when the poisoning cleared up. The hospital were giving him something to make him go(you know) a lot. He was not feeling well. The hospital ran tests and found out he either had to much or not enough potassium. I can’t remember which it was. The doctors never told us that he had the potassium problem. They kept all of us in the dark about it. He was losing an obscene amount of weight. He didn’t even look like him. They kept putting him ICU and taking him out. He was getting so warn out. One day he asked the nurse for some water, she gave it to him and left. She went back a bit later and he was gone.
Trust me it had nothing to do with my grandmother. They loved each other so much. We have tried talking into doing the autopsy but she didn’t want to have to go through it, put him and us through it. If you ask me something was not right with what the hospital was doing. We think my grandmother would have had a plausible lawsuit but she wouldn’t do it.
Now that I am all shaky after going over that again I am going to get a breath of fresh air.

Dani-My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know that it may have been a little while ago, but that doesn’t take away from the pain of it. Especially when a hosptial handles things the way they do. My great-grandmother (the rock of my family) has been in and out of the hospital the last few years, and there have been situations that I found absolutely apalling when it came to the hospital treatment of her.

He had horrible bed sores also. He was so humiliated when he couldn’t control his bowels and messed a lot. I can imagine how degrading that can be. He was feeling so awful and thought it was his fault. It kills me just to think about. I will never be over it. I wrote about it one my poems.

Dani, {{{hugs}}} I really HATE hospitals and how they treat people. Goes along with the situation with Kevin from yesterday. Doctors frequently have no clue what real people need to be treated like.
I’m extremely lucky that I have only once spent a night in a hospital and that was to keep a friend of mine company after her C-Section born baby was taken to a different hospital to the neo-natal ICU. (Dad went with baby, so I stayed with Mom.)

Dani- I’m sorry for your pain. I understand it completely. My grandfather was in the hospital for months before he passed. I wouldn’t deal with it when it first happened and it really hit me hard a few months later. It takes a long time.

Thanks! You guys are great. I know it will get better. I will be ok. The pain will eventually dull but never die. Right now it slices right through me. When I visit Gram I still expect him to be sitting in his chair watching the Patriots or UCONN basketball. I decided I am going to laminate the poem and put it at his grave.

I have an extremely large extended family and we have been touched by death many, many times over the past 10 years. What I can tell you is that the loss and the hole in your life will always be there but the intense pain of it lessens with time. You’ve got all of our “shoulders” to cry on.

Speaking of none of that, my kitchen has a major ant infestation. Ant traps aren’t helping. And they’re not going after the side of the kitchen where the (well sealed) canisters are. They’re heading for the side where the coffee maker, the KitchenAid mixer, and food processor, the blender, etc. are. Like they want to learn to cook or something. I just had to give up part of my lunch because a couple of the bastids traveled here in it. YEUCHHHHH! Time for really powerful ant repellant. Ick!

When I came back to work after the funeral and stuff my desk was a mess and everything was so screwed up it took me weeks to get everything back in order. I ended up having a really bad breakdown. You should have seen my cute little grandmother when she found out. She looked ready to storm into the office and lay into everybody. Let me tell you, after that breakdown, whenever I take time off things are almost perfect when I get back.

ms.gypsy: Our dishwasher has been leaking under our kitchen floor for weeks and we had to replace the dishwasher and are getting a new floor the first day of our vacation (20th).
Until then, I’m living with a kitchen that literally smells like shit – but no one can smell it besides me because I have this hyper developed sense of smell. They’re all telling me I’m crazy and I’m like “You know I must love you because the worst of the shit smell is right in front of the damned oven!”
But the worst part? Every time I have a leak anywhere in the house, I get water bugs. Giant f-ing water bugs and the floor’s been leaking for WEEKS. You all know that water bugs are just giant roaches, right? So I have fricking huge roaches in my kitchen! OMG! It’s SO embarassing not to mention I’m itchy as hell now. Real or imagined!
When the dude came to install the dishwasher he was supposed to take the old one out but my kid told me he wouldn’t take it because when he pulled it out it was INFESTED with roaches! And that it could contaminate the other appliances in the truck!
So now I’m a leper! Then they tell me he said that it was a good thing that we didn’t have more roaches than came out because then he would have had to leave and not installed the dish washer at all!
So I go home, all embarassed about the installation dude seeing my buggy house…OH and he went in the birdroom which looks like…well, a bird room as if the roaches weren’t bad enough. Anyhow, I ask my kid how many roaches flooded out of the dish washer and do you know what he said? “3”

The husband is being a complete jerk today. Changes his plans for the weekend then expects me to change mine and gets mad ” cause I didn’t ask him before I committed to something”. He had already laid out in detail what his plan was for the weekend and so I thougth it was pretty safe for me to plan mine around his arrangements. I am SO not talking to him when I get home, and he can cook his own damn dinner.

I’ve spent a good chunk of time this week on IMDB telling folks over there to send in postcards. I’ve been doing the same on Myspace.
Contacting the advertisers is a brilliant idea! They never get contacted about their ads during a specific show. Can you email out a list of advertisers that aired during Blood Ties and also the address you’ve used to contact them? That is if it isn’t too much trouble.
We also might try adding to the postcards that Lifetime is missing huuuuge opportunities to advertise by ignoring events like Comic Con. There are tons of small and large Sci-Fi conventions world wide. It is a built in audience for Blood Ties and they have not tapped into it!
Anyone else have any ideas? I’m trying to do what I can with my limited resources. I did get paid yesterday and I will try to gt some postcards this week so that I can start sending them in.

Dad called to tell me that he “followed my instructions” and took my old dinning room table to the General Hospital’s thrift shop and they were very pleased with the donation – but he forgot to get a receipt….oh well, I just didn’t want it to end up in the dump and the thrift store gives about 75% of the profits back to the community – they sponsor several organizations that help battered and abused women and children…now if I can just get him to go pick up my new table – he said it was raining too hard this afternoon for him to go get it 🙂 dads – got to lov-em.

Monk and Psych on USA already killed some of Sci-Fi’s Stargate programming, being aired at the same times (as if in competition with their own sister network channel! NBC owns both USA and Sci-Fi).
And if it isn’t Doctor Who on Friday being repeated at 11PM, it might be Stargate Atlantis, or possibly Flash Gordon (if the show lasts that long).

Unless everyone can coordinate this “Friday NIGHT line-up” on all network channels — Somebody’s Tv network is going to suffer a ratings slip. If it doesn’t help BT, it’ll be the death knell for SG-Atlantis (rumors have been heading that way for a while, and this new “Line-up” might be the nail that sinks Atlantis back into the sea).
PS- LIFETIME can air its Psychic programming anytime. I don’t watch those (nor the *ghostie* Ghost-buster reality type shows) on the Sci-Fi channel, either.. 😛

Alisa – you know, I really like Stargate Atlantis, but this season has been a bit of a waste. Seems like they go out of their way to not have much about the characters personal lives, which creates a boring story. You can do a show about shoot em ups just so many times. I mean, why did they bring Ronan on, what’s the point to Teyla (other than to over enunciate), and what’s up with killing off the doctor?
Okay, sorry for the non-BT rant. I just hate to see a good show go to waste. I went through three of four years of pure torture with Star Trek Enterprise (Scott Bakula – yum!).

Okay, so my day has the great possibility of sucking horribly (not in the Henry-I’m-tingly-all-over-’cause-of-the-promise-of-fun-things-to-come kind of way). I get to spend my day cleaning. Which, in a normal house, wouldn’t be so bad. BUT, in my aunt & uncle’s house…it could’ve been one of Hercules’ feats! *loooooooooong sigh* No one cleans but me (which I guess is kinda okay ’cause they let me stay w/o paying rent or anything) but my cousin Sean, instead of helping clean, will actually make things dirtier and such while I’m trying to get things done. It’s definitely a work of patience.
The only good thing is if I get everything done (livingroom, rec room, kitchen, bathroom & hallways) before my aunt wakes up then we can go “shopping”! (i can’t actually buy anything but it’s fun to look.) So, with that said. I’m going to be gone all day guys.

I am currently reading a great series of books. They are written by Nora Roberts, Three Sisters Island Trilogy. The books are Dance Upon The Air, Heaven and Earth, and Face The Fire. They are kinda about witches and the choices they make. There isn’t to much soft porn in it either. Just the right amount of it.

Yeah, I spent a week or so on an egg farm with a family in Pennsylvania one summer and they had a full dinner every morning before 6:00 A.M. (salad, rolls the whole deal ~ I could hardly bear to look at it) In the evening, they had breakfast. (light cereal etc.)

I read something in a magazine once about a family that inverted their meals and ate dinner for breakfast and hd breakfast for dinner. Apparently it is a really good way to lose weight because you are eating your big meal so early in the day you burn off all those calories instead of going to bed before you have used them all up.

I hope you all are having a good morning/afternoon. I have to say I’m not. I think my boss is trying to kill me. I’m senior designer here and I’m the one she trusts the most so basically every piece of crap ad that comes through the door gets passed my way. I mean ANYTHING that looks evenly remotely challenging. So that means that my fellow co-workers will finish up their work probably within the hour and head out while I’m still stuck here the rest of the day. Many companies reward you for doing good work right? A bonus, an extra raise, something….. Not here, here all I get is more work. OK sorry for my RANT but I had to get that out of me.

Tanya: So how do you read this: They went from doubling up episodes on a Saturday night for 5 weeks to running 1 episode for 10 weeks on a Friday Night. I’m not sure how to read that. I’m serious considering taking a vacation on the post cards until it starts back up in October. They still haven’t committed to additional episodes past the original 22. Have you heard anything different?

The Circle Trilogy:
Morrigan’s Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Silence (This is the one with the vampire. It has an interesting take on the vampire.
In The Garden Trilogy: Blue Dahlia, Black Rose, Red Lily (This one involves a ghost)
KEY TRILOGY: Key of Light, Key of Knowledge , Key of Valor
(I can’t remember what the supernatural element is of this one…but I think it does have one.)
THE IRISH TRILOGY: Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea (I love this one because it is set in Ireland)

Sigh! The only Nora Roberts I’ve liked so far is her Eve Dallas series when she writes as JD Robb. But I just discovered this wonderful downloadable e-books site from my library and have put in holds for a couple of her occult style books a try as audio books. I’ve found that some authors I don’t care for are actually really good if I’m listening rather than reading.
I heard an analysis of why “Dresden Files” was cancelled that makes sense and relates back to what happened to “Firefly.” A network that has had a monster hit (BSG for SciFi and “X Files” for Fox) isn’t going to be as patient in allowing shows that ought to have the same audience as the hit to settle in. If the show doesn’t take off right away and become an international phenom or whatever, they’re not going to be impressed and are likely to have a knee-jerk cancellation. Sadly, this might affect “Blood Ties,” although I doubt Lifetime has had anything resembling a monster hit ever.
(BTW, with Fox I think the fact that “Space Above and Beyond” didn’t become a mega hit really made them skittish around “Firefly” several years later. I can’t come up with any reason for SciFi to be a bunch of buttheads about “Dresden Files” but what do I know?)
As for “Blood Ties,” hearing nothing is better than hearing a negative. Friday isn’t as much a dead night as Saturday is. After all, “Doctor Who” is as big a hit as SciFi could ask for without it being BSG. I race home from rehearsal to catch the second showing, and I think it’s easier for most folks to stay in and watch tv on Friday night than it is on Saturday night. And LOTS of people stay up extra late on Friday night, just because they can. So it’s not that bad a thing.

Take my advice and read the Highlander series first it ties into the other one. The first one I read was Kiss Of The Highlander. 4. Chery and the hens barrage: I really think that what your seeing is everyone’s email going back and forth. If you’re getting something like 100 or more emails a day, I’m guessing that’s it. We can take you out of the routing table if you’d like. We’re kinda verbose so I can completely understand you wanting us to knock it off.

I think she is right, it is great that Life Time is extending the life of the last 10 episodes of season one. But! until we know we should continue the campaign.

Diz- I am a HUGE Jane Austen fan (i’m not sure i’m THE Jane Austen fan). I heard about it but I haven’t seen the previews. I found a book today though written in 1913. It was the first ever sequel to Jane Austen’s works. It has characters from every one of her books and it’s supposed to look at what happened after they all got married. It’s by Cybil Brinton (or Binton)… so, if you’re a Austenian like I am… just a suggestion. 😀
I’m going back to the Ren Fair tomorrow (YAY) and meeting up with friends from LU. *is excited* I can’t wait. Sadly, either my dinner hates me or I really am sick (i’ve been denying it for about 4 days). Either way tomorrow may be a very sad day if I don’t feel better soon! I totally expect a million emails and about an hours worth of blog reading to catch up on. ^_^

well I was going to try and blog while watching Flash – but my brain has gone to mush so I will just go curl up with my pillow and see how Gina did as Dale Arden – I think she has the right attitude.
Oh I can’t wait til October! My cousin and I are trying to figure out whos house will be hosting the sleep over, mine or hers. I voted for mine – no kids, no husband to inturupt the veiwing!

I just checked the SciFi schedule and thank goodness everything repeats tonight. Cuz I won’t be getting to Flash until LATE. But I will be a good and loyal girl and stay up to watch it, even though to be honest I hated the movie.
I’m taking Fitzbat to rehearsal tonight. He may end up part of my costume. The costume I was making suffers from a design flaw. Oh, no, actually, it’s a measurement flaw. You know how you measure twice and cut once? I got that backwards. It’s WAY too small. So I had to do something quick. Thank heaven for fabric stashes! I have a partially finished vest that more or less matches one of my skirts and with a black shirt underneath I should be fine. But I’m so disappointed because the trim for the one I WAS making is $20 a yard and I had it put on just perfectly.
Laurel, I’m sorry to hear about your loss. It’s never easy, no matter how much warning you get. I’ll give you a hug when I see you. (Tuesday, right?)
Okay, apropos of none of that. You know how I often say that I lived in Saskatchewan of which we will not speak? Well, I say that because I was 12 and was at that awkward stage where being different was BAD. And, there I was, a US citizen living in Canada, during a war that no one around me thought was good, a Jewish kid in an almost exclusively Protestant city, an east coast intellectual in the middle of God’s country prairie … you get the idea, right? An entire province suffers due to my awkward adolescence stage. Well, after reading Denis McGrath’s blog turned me on to “Little Mosque on the Prairie,” I read a bit about a show it’s been compared to, called “Corner Gas.” And I have no compunctions about downloading Canadian shows from suspect sites because I’m not stealing anything from anyone. There is no legal way for me to see those shows. Anyhow, between “Little Mosque on the Prairie” (which is a laugh riot and proves that the laugh track is highly overrated) and “Corner Gas” (ditto) I think the healing has begun. I’m starting to remember things about Saskatchewan that don’t make me want to hurl things at the wall. Alberta, otoh, still has some ‘splainin’ to do, though. (Okay, I forgave Alberta years ago when I found out that’s where Nathan Fillion is from. He’s my honey. Captain Mal can have me anywhere, anyhow, anytime he wants. TMI?)
Speaking of illegal downloads, there’s a song entitled “Truck Driving Vampire” that makes me giggle uncontrollably and I found it at mininova.org. I don’t think the one song download is illegal but anyone who feels uncomfortable about it can always delete it after one hearing. I can’t imagine Michael Longcor would object, however, to the publicity. (He does a lot of SCA stuff and I think he’s great.)

China wants to be the first to set up shop on the moon. They’ve let everyone else work out the kinks in the system, so they could create things cheaper and thinner and probably more prone to breaking, etc.. (after hearing all the news about their latest and greatest products).
They’ve been accused of stealing info, and I know of a company who sold a machine to China to make a 50 cent item. The company doing the selling only received one order. They smelled something strange right there, and figured the people on the other end would take the machine apart and put it back together again, and make their own replicas. Sure enough, the company never heard back from the Chinese merchants ever again.. they got more suspicious because that tiny action merely reinforced their worst fears (loss of business going to some other place, for cheaper rates).

Preliminary (viewer fan) reviews came in – about 90% in favor to giving it a try, or thought it was better than they expected. (Gateworld is a great temperature gauge – sometimes..) 😉

Jane never married, she was engaged for aobut 12 hours..A young man of 21 years proposed and she was 28. She said yes that night adn then broke it off the next morning. About Flash Gordon. I tuned in last night to Gina if nothing else. I was bored after about 5 minutes and could not watch the whole thing.
This show is an example of what Bloot Ties is not. Flash Gordan appears to have been thrown together fast to make a cheap buck frankly and it shows. The script was yuk, and except for Gina who we know is a good actress, the rest did not impress me.
That is why Blood Ties is so appealing to me. The care and passion put into the production of Blood Ties stands way above all of the other supernatural shows out there……………..

Not so much a good show. Actors did what they could with a lackluster script. Gina’s kinda cute in mundane-wear, but beyond that … is it wrong that I was hoping Ming would win?
One thing that might be a spoiler if I don’t work it just right: How many of you figured out where the item everyone was looking for was once you heard it pronounced correctly? I got it on the second time someone named it. As for guessing what it is, that didn’t take much thought although there were always other possibilities (like a hyper-nuclear weapon, which doesn’t exist but it sure sounds science fiction-y, doesn’t it? Kind of like that whole show. It just SOUNDS science fiction-y. Doesn’t actually deliver.)
Off to my event planning meeting. (I suddenly got busy. WHY WHY WHY????) I’ll be back later today.

A&E’s Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (her mom is Aunt Mae in the Spiderman movies) is the one and only genuine version of that book to me! I have a set of the dvds at work AND at home so I can watch it either place.

that’s funny.. the article is about FLASH GORDON, but the author gave DOCTOR WHO better ratings on the likable score..

My fiancé is obsessed with Flash Gordon the movie… He was so disgusted with the show last night that he walked out of the room and locked himself in the bedroom for the last half of the episode.
WTF is up with Ming dressing like a normal guy? He and his daughter are royalty and they so did not look or act the part.
The script was very bland. I think it could have been better, but it seems like they put a rush on it to get it out in the summer.
I’ll watch a couple more episodes, but I am not holding my breath that it’ll get any better.

maybe I’m a bit dense, but I got it only a few seconds before FLASH did. When he pulled out the watches, it was a *dead* giveaway. Something so practical, yet dumb (on the corny DW spectrum).. I actually thought it was pretty clever to do that.. from a creative writer’s perspective. 😀
Poor Gina… at this rate, her future on FLASH GORDON is doomed.
more reviews came in (to the Gateworld link I mentioned earlier). I guess since most of the first few commentaries were on the positive side, the anti-Sci-Fi channel started spouting off about how awful it was. So, now the level of positive reviews dropped probably to about 30% in favor for watching future eps.

Funny thing is I found my self searching for bats at every store we went into that had started putting out holloween stuff! Didn’t find a single one that was cute! Well I have my coloney? of little purple guys to keep me company.

Anywho – I was not impressed with Flash at all – I was dozing off by the time I figured it was going to be an hour and a half instead of an hour – not a good sign. And the IMEX thing – I kept thinking why are they looking for a theater? (IMAX) until I saw the watches! oh Imex – Timex…duh…
and now the bounty hunter is going to live with Flash? I see things going down hill fast…..
ok I am off for the night – I have furniture to paint and want to get the first coat on before I fall asleep – oooo perfect opportunity to watch an episode of Blood Ties!
Speeking of which – is anyone else having problems watching the episodes on the LT site – they seem to freeze up the home computer – haven’t tried at work yet.

aghhhhhhh!! it was better than last week’s previews anticipated, too. It had sort of a different tone about itself. (HUGE GRIN!! especially if my deduction about Torchwood is TRUE!)

that’s why I never joined the scifi web forums. It used to be that (bad / hostile) way on roddenberry.com (too many trolls ruining each Tv program/ep). I think scifi has become over-run from the google discussion group trolls.. not very trustworthy. Unfortunately, I think they’ve also migrated over to gateworld.. and I think they keep trying to sneak back into the r-com forums, too.
Plus, I think scifi’s own people are attempting to run the network deliberately into the ground. One person wrote that the network won’t exist after 2009.. (logical question is why, and what would cause it to go poof.. or get gobbled up by the goblins..?) I sense disenchantment among the ranks over there, so they’re forcing the network to *disappear*.. this has been going on since before the year 2000, too, so it’s nothing new — other than, it’s just gotten much worse and more widespread.
anyway.. last week’s “Painkiller Jane” was actually pretty good! (I like the medical doctor.. he’s the cute, dark-haired guy). 😉

I had a wonderful dream this morning about my characters and now I have the urge to rewrite the begining of my story (how they meet) – which means rewriting all 8 chapters!
Maybe I’ll just start over and write two at once….don’t know….still going to see if I can make the changes working in what I’ve already written….oh well, this is usually what happens when I start to develope a story.
And I have another idea for another H&V short story as well – that dream was somethime last night….boy my brain has been busy! So I guess I’ll have to start on that as well.
Sorry I missed that chat last night – when my cousin comes to visit shes going to check my computer and see if there is a security setting thats blocking the HenHouse…

AlisaSG, how far back to you go with the Doctor Who series? Because the clues weren’t even particularly subtle in “The Lazarus Experiment.” I’m SO looking forward to seeing Jack with the new Doctor. Talk about weird romance! (Trust us, this isn’t as icky as it sounds. Well, not in the sense that you have to watch stuff. Captain Jack is just … he’s just Captain Jack. No one could accuse him of being normal under any circumstances. And with Rose gone…) There’s a rumor I’d love to see confirmed that Billie Piper will be joining the cast of “Torchwood” either this season (British this season) or next. And I realize Freema Agyeman will be part of “Torchwood” for a couple of shows in the second season, but can you REALLY picture Owen sharing his autopsy/medical room with anyone else?
Okay, everyone, back to “Blood Ties.” (Sorry, I just had to discuss the whole Doctor Who thing given the opportunity.) Tonight at 10 I’m up to “Norman” again. I really hope the LifetimeTV website is working by then. Sigh!

Or was I influenced by reading an article about Nichols joining the cast of “Heroes” just before watching “The Lazarus Experiment?”

I was at the Ren fair all day yesterday. Note to self: NEVER allow aunt to bring kids along next time. OMG! 90 degrees with a temper tantrum throwing & demanding *13* year old who makes his 4 year old brother angry and thus very cranky and demanding… UGH! talk about frustration. Top it all off with the fact that I had invited friends from school that I hadn’t seen in a while and you have a tremendously embarassing & trying day. I almost cried. I was seriously about ready to just sit down and BAWL my eyes out. There was one good part though…
*STORY TIME*
(I should mention that I have a small henna tattoo on my wrist that I got at the ren fair)
Okay, so I had just gotten my Henna done and me and three friends were waiting for my aunt. We were standing across from a tent that housed homemade hand scrubbing soaps. Well, this guy comes out and asks if we’d had our free hand scrub yet (REALLY cute btw). I look at the other three who all look at me so I turn back to the guy and he says that it will only take 2 minutes and whatever we were waiting for can wait that long.
He bows (at the waist) and points towards the tent in a “lead the way” gesture. Well I look at my friends and repeat the gesture. He looks at me and starts to grabs my wrist (the one w/the henna) and tells me to come along. (not in a rude way) Well, I try to stop him from putting his hand in my new tatto but I didn’t get to in time. He had already hit it.
He apologizes quite a bit and says to me, “I tried to pull up. I really did. I, I, just didn’t have fast enough reflexes. I just wasn’t fast enough.” By this time my face is red from trying not to laugh (yes, my sexual humor was still working) when he smiles and says, “I said Pull UP not pull OUT you dirty dirty girl” To which my aunt and all my friends respond with, “You have no idea).
So, I play nice for a while. Joking such very mundanely, but we all know that couldn’t last… So, he’s showing us how to use this scrub and the only guy in my group of friends is scrubbing at his hands really hard. So, I look at him and say “Ben, be gentle. It lasts longer and you get deeper effects.” To which my entire group of friends respond with “Anzia!” and the guy just smiles and says, “i’m not touching that one.” I just smiled and said, “you know you guys missed me!”

DEFINITELY THE BEST PART OF THE DAY!!!
How did the chat thing go last night? I don’t remember hearing anything about it. Are we still up for Sunday @ 10? (I thought we said something about making it a standing appointment until BT comes back…I could be wrong).

LA- Oh, I was playing nice. That poor man (did I mention how cute he was) was so apologetic (sp?) about my henna. I felt a bit bad for him so the joking was to put him at ease…i’m guessing it didn’t work. ^_^ Oh, his HANDS! they were HUGE! and soft, and gentle (even when he was pulling me…) And TALL! I’m 5’10” & I only came up to his shoulders (barely!). *Sigh* i had a good night’s sleep last night ’cause of him! ^_^

based on your earlier descriptions, he just sounds too evil and unlikeable…
and to recruit Henry into his domain.. don’t think so. I can picture Henry being at serious odds with this creature. And tho Henry may have let his own “powers” get to his head, he knows he’s not as power hungry as his nemesis’ are.
Of course, that’s my own impression of Henry, so it’s pointless for me to say more about that. 😉

I’ve seen all of the DW eps that the rest of the USA has seen. NJN-Tv (PBS) had them all, except for the ones that ended up lost, because of the BBC’s lack of programming foresight.
So, this is going waaaaaaaaaaaaay back (Jon Pertwee’s era, if you’re familiar with it). If you read the 2nd link and piece the words together, including the theory about the “mastermind” (ahem!) behind it all, it just seems that ALL of the pieces of the more GIANT puzzle (universal sized) come together better.

somewhere between the moment the Doctor saved the Queen and the day she vowed to dedicate TORCHWOOD into destroying him, made me wonder if that other someone (a certain *famous* DW character) didn’t show up and intervene and brainwash her the way Martha’s mom got brainwashed in “The Lazarus Experiment.”

I just had a *wild* thought..
I don’t see Henry as a power hungry vampire. I see him more in line with taking the same side as “Doctor Who”.
So, here’s my wild thought – Henry teams up with the Doctor and fights against the forces of evil in the universe. okay, maybe that might end up being a short-lived TARDIS journey, and trimmed down to a few eps, but it’d be a hoot!

To get rid of this anxiety there are some deep breathing exercizes that will help flush this rigid energy out of your body.
Controlled Breathing Exercise:
Sit upright in a comfortable position.
Focus on your present state and existence (this is often termed being “mindful”). Block out intrusive thoughts. You may close your eyes if you wish. Think of your happy thought (mine is puppies in a basket – corney I know, but hey – it works)
Pay attention to your breathing. Inhale slowly through the nose, taking several seconds.
Exhale through the mouth, trying to make the exhalation phase last twice as long as the inhalation.
Continue this mindful breathing for 3-5 minutes.
Now I am not one who battles clinical anxiety or depression, so this works for me, and I think it will work for you in this case.

Back from the library, post awful, and grocery store. Whew! Big sale on those metal, flavor neutral water jugs and I couldn’t resist. It’s purple with some kind of vaguely Indian (Mohadavan, not the guy from “Heart of Ice”) design. Very cool and will definitely hold enough water for me on even long hikes.
It’s been a totally weird summer. Today it’s overcast, cool, and raining. I’m not sure what to make of it.
I think I’m going to sew for a bit, then watch a movie or two, and try to come back in time to chat while watching an episode of “Blood Ties.” If it’ll let me…

If I am spot on target, think TPTB will make the stories effective enough to give Captain Jack one of the wildest rides of his life at TORCHWOOD? He’d have to end up playing a double agent of sorts, if he is to keep his job and access to valuable equipment that goes light years beyond normal comprehension, and then keep everyone guessing at which side of the fence he’s on — the way the Doctor does at times. 😉

I missed the post about DW – I only watch on and off so I saw part one of the Dylack invasion but missed part two and then saw the Lazeruos experiment – so I’m lost….
I figured out how to redo the beginging of MY story (My charators) by adding a prolouge and then I tweeked the first couple of chapters – if this works i wont have to “re write” the whole thing. May be – of course this is presuming I don’t give up on the whole thing – I’m trying really really really hard to stick with it this time……
I am starting a second Hentry and Vick short….Dani is working on editing part two of the first one. When I post that would you guys prefer that I just tack it on to the end of part one – or make a new link?
I’m going to hang around awhile.

extending the 10 episodes for 10 weeks is good for building a fan base but it will only work if we can look forward to another season in March!!!!!!

Buongiorno! I have been brushing up on my Italian. Speaking if Colin Firth, Who knows the story of The Secret Garden. Actually most of you probably do. That was my favorite story growing up. He had a small role in the 1987 movie version of the story. He played a grown up Colin Craven at the end of the movie when Mary Lennox goes back to Mistlethwait Manor after being a nurse in World War I. He ask her to marry him and they kiss.

well I’m not going to make it too hard to figure out (although only a few people will know why I picked this name… AGAIN).
My first day was rather boring. I know the entire history of the Kohl’s department store (did you know it started with a family owned grocery store?), where it is now (it has 834 stores in 46 states and over 130,000 associates working for it!) and where it’s going to be (another 99 stores open this fall & there will be a total of 1200 by 2010). I know how much the stock is (50.18) compared ot when it went on the market (1.48 in 1992). I know that they made 15.5 billion dollars last fiscal year. I know that there are 400 trash cans in the Corprate Office. I also know that since they implimented free coffee all day (Feb. 06) they’ve gone through 8,000 gallons of decaf and 35,000 gallons of reg. I also know that the Coprate office is 880,000 sq. ft. and I took a tour over almost all of it (GAH! HOT!).
OUt of all of this info that I know now…how much is relevant to my job? NOt much. As a matter of fact. I really don’t learn anything about MY job specifically until tomorrow. I did, however, get to spend the day staring at one VERY nice looking man (who just got engaged).
I also made a friend. YAY! Her name is Sarah and she just graduated from College in May. She’s SO NICE. I think I’m gonna be okay on that front. Seeing as we were sat in groups and within 5 minutes I had the table laughing. ^_^
So, tomorrow is my first day in the building i’m actually working in. We’ll see how that goes. I’m kinda more nervous NOW then I was today. *sigh* Oh well…

While they might not be something Bonnie Hammer is hanging up on her refrigerator, the new “Flash Gordon” series debuted to respectable numbers Friday night.
SciFi Channel called it the best-rated series premiere of 2007, earning a 1.5 household rating from Nielsen Media Research, representing approximately 2.1 million viewers. Those numbers finished ahead of two other series premieres over the past eight months on the network — “Painkiller Jane” earned a 1.3 household, while “The Dresden Files” clocked a 1.4 household in its series debut.
“Flash Gordon” — which had mostly negative reviews — also delivered for SciFi in key advertising demographics, including 1.2 million adults between the ages of 25 and 54, and 973,000 viewers between 18 and 49. That made it the fifth-most watched entertainment program for adults 18 to 49, and seventh for 25 to 54. The network also touted the fact that its 25 to 54 demo numbers were stronger than ABC, which aired back-to-back reruns of comedian George Lopez’s sitcom.
The ratings might be tops for 2007 for SciFi Channel, but they greatly pale to other premieres in recent years including the ones for “Battlestar Galactica” and “Stargate: Atlantis.”

🙂 Heh. I think I started this whole name game thing with my little VA type-o. *g* Anywayzzzzz…once again, I hate my job…I hate my life….I basically hate everything right now. That pic pretty much fits my mood. I swear, I take one lousy friggin’ day off because I can’t make up time for a stupid doctor appointment ’cause I’m on a fixed schedule because I ride a bus and I’m expected to do everything. GGGGRRRRRR!!! The doctor App. was a total waste of time anyways. I sat a whole half hour past my app time and then another 15 min just to talk to the Doc for a few min then I left. We pretty much agreed that at this point, therapy isn’t gonna help my knee at all. It pretty much has to heal on it’s own.
Plus I’ve been having some really disturbing dreams lately. The other night I had a dream that I was a vampire and I attacked and bit someone…someone I used to be friends with since we were kids but I don’t talk to him anymore ’cause he’s a big jerk…long story…anyways…in the dream I remember him saying something like telling me I was hungry and I should eat something and I said something like ‘I’m not hungry for food’ and I pretty much jumped on him and bit him. Seems didn’t take too much blood, ’cause I remember after that I went out to find someone else to bite. *g* Then last night I had another dream with Marcus in it. Don’t remember much except that it involved more blood. I swear, all these blood dreams are getting really disturbing…

After emailing my boss back and forth today the last one from her has put me into such a funk that it’s hard to breathe (heavy sigh time). What’s worse is that the email isn’t even bad. Just something that irritated me but has thrown me into depression.
Man, it SUCKS being like this. How many drugs do I have to take before this random shit stops popping up out of no where and takes me down? ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is where someone usually inserts the “be grateful for what you have” or “it could be worse” something like that and then I DO feel worse for feeling depressed. I’m on vacation for two weeks starting next Monday. Maybe that’s all I need.
Here’s the thing about depression: if it’s just a feeling but nothing specific really causes it, how do you get out of it? You know, you don’t have a REASON but you just feel like it’s harder and harder to get through the day?

As I’ve told everyone I’ve dealt extensively with depression too. One trick that keeps me going is to find something…. some little thing to look forward to. Be it lunch with a friend, seeing those cute little birds at the end of the work day or just hanging out with us girls…… Looking forward to something = hope and hope is what keeps us going.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. You can’t see, but I’m blushing here. I truly hope that it lived up to everyone’s expectations. I learned a few things in the making.
1. I’ve worked on the computer far too much – I really need to draw more.
2. I have a crappy scanner – Pretty nice printer but a crappy scanner.
3. There are lot of us. – I just couldn’t make us fit on one page.
4. Sleep? – Ah who the hell needs it anyway?
5. This is a great group we have here. – I already knew that, this just reinforced it.
I think the thing Kyle will like most about all of this, is that we are not asking for anything in return….. Autographs etc….. I think he will also like the fact that we are not overtly drooling over him in our comments.

Back again. *g* The weird thing about that dream was, I haven’t talked to my former friend Shaun aka the big jerk in a long time now, so I REALLY have no clue where that even came from. Odd. SO don’t wanna anaylze that. Guess I just had this really big urge to bite him…for numerous reasons. Shame I didn’t bite his girlfriend/fiance in the dream aka the huge Bitca…the one who will seriously ruin his life if he marries her. Sorry…really really long story. Also weird this is the first time I actually bit someone in my dreams that I also know in real life. Or disturbing…
The dream with Marcus is hazy…all I remember is he had longer hair…in some parts of the dream…other parts he had his regular hair…hmmm…and I think I was following him around again begging him to turn me. Clearly I have blood drinking issues. 😉 😮 😛

Are you kidding me , wow he’s good and looks very natural to me. Logan last weekend kept talking about HSM 2 that’s coming out this weekend right?
Well that’s all he could talk about and he sat w/ a piece of cardboard some glue and some pics of the cast from HSM1 and glued them on like they were dancing across the stage. He’s six and it’s trip how into this he is. He’s so funny to watch dance, he thinks he’s waaay cool 😎 I love this dude I’ll send ya’ll some pics of him tomorrow. He’s like my Amber , Dani.

DIZ: The stats for the BT characters this week blew. BT itself was up but everyone else dropped, even pookums Kyle!! The actual numbers aren’t showing up on the stats page, they’re still showing last week’s numbers for some reason. You’d have to open the actual table to see what’s really going on.
I need to post them! I’ll get on that tonight (if I can get away from the birds in time) or tomorrow.
BTW: Thank you so much for the well wishes. I realized that I’m getting sick – again. That tends to make me more sensitive that normal and that’s saying something! Stupid mold in the kitchen is going to be the death of me! Thank god we’re getting the floor done on Monday. I don’t know how much longer I can last in there!

Thank you to everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Moonbeam came up with my husband and girls for the funeral on Monday. She and my hubby went back to work this morning and the girls and I will leave tomorrow evening. It has been somewhat stressful but we have had a chance to visit with family members we would not have otherwise seen. My brother and his wife and two of their children drove to central Washington from Kansas City area and we have had a lovely visit, reminising about all of the summers we spent with our grandparents. All of the grandchildren have such lovely memories, and we were reminded of the tremendous blessings we have been given.
Gypsy, it looks like I will be back in town late tomorrow evening. I have to get in touch with my boss to see about catching up on what I missed. I could probably still meet with you Thursday or Friday. I’ll leave you an e-mail after I talk to her tomorrow. 😛

Funny how things come full circle back to Blood Ties. I was complaining to the main post office because my carrier hadn’t picked up my post cards for two weeks. The first time I talked to a male route supervisor, he was supposed to call back and didn’t. I called for him this morning and he was out. Got a very nice lady who asked me if I did this every Saturday (mailing post cards) and I told her yes for the most part as I was trying to get additional epiosodes for a TV show. She naturally asked what show could be that important? So naturally, I just had to tell her, directed her to the Lifetime site and told her she had to call me back tomorrow after she watched it. Seems that she likes vampires (used to watch Angel), score, another bits the dust and is turned……to Henry. I did tell her that Vicki does kick but so I didn’t just tell her how pretty Henry is. lol.

Dizey: I finally figured out how to do post cards on my printer (at least the message part, still have to work on the mailing address). Started out with an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet, reduced the margins down to where I had a 4 X 6 size, placed a text box on in and reversed the direction of the text. Put it in my top feed and it worked like a charm, FINALLY. Good thing too, never heard back from the supervisor in Pakistan.

I wish i could get a tatoo – the doc says my imune system is so low that I would be asking for infection – I want a bat flying over the moon – I have a great picture of one……small enough/ or placed so that it doesn’t show at work….I guess I’ll have to think on that a while.

I just had a horrible experience at lunch. My friend and I were at the local China King and the guys from the Army Recruiting office came in. The way they were acting towards the women in the restaurant made me feel bad about myself and the way I look right now. I couldn’t even get up to get a drink refill I was so uncomfortable. I haven’t felt this insecure since high school.

A little over a year ago I was on the light rail on my way home and there were a group of young guys across the aisle from me. They were horsing around and making all kinds of lewd and annoying noises. The elderly man sitting next to me asked them to please hold it down (I suspect his hearing aid was overloading, poor fellow!) and they replied that they were just back from Iraq where they had been fighting for that man’s freedom and he could damn well back off and let them be. Then they spotted a pretty girl out their window, waiting for a train going the other way from the station we were in. One of them hopped off the train and (from what I could tell from later cell phone conversations these guys were having with him) followed her to her stop and best I can tell he then reported back where she had gone. I’m not sure what they planned to do with that information but the lot of them hopped off the train at the next stop and went to wait for a train going the other direction. The elderly man alerted the driver of the train, who apologized and said there wasn’t much he could do since it was all supposition and by then happening outside the train.
That night I blogged about the incident, and my friend Ian who is in the National Guard and was then preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. He said that, unfortunately, there are creeps like that in the military. The Army, at least, pays lip service to trying to keep the soldiers well behaved but when not only other soldiers but officers behave that way it’s difficult.
I’m sorry, Maddie Mo, that you had to deal with that, but at least you can assure yourself that people like Ian are in the military, too, and that those creeps are not “all that they can be.”
Lunch is almost over and I’ve wasted it WORKING! ARGHHH!

Dizey: I have a friend at work whose husband works at the Space Center. A couple of weeks ago Bruce Willis brought his band to the Space Center, played for the audience and they ran Armagedon for the audience. Her husband got to hang out with Bruce Willis, someone took a photo, so they do have that. Her husband said they hung out in Bruce’s camper and he was funny as heck. Seemed to be a very nice guy. The security company that does Bruce’s security and other celebrities approached the guy’s supervisor and asked if he was interested in moving to Oregan and doing security. He turned it down flat, I thought my girlfriend was going to clobber him.

I guess I’m having baby weight issues today. I was never skinny before but I gained 80 lbs between the fertility treatments and being pregnant. Unfortunately Maddie only weighed 5 lbs so I didn’t lose much there, and I’m still carrying a great deal of the rest of it around with me. My friend John( who used to be big into weight lifting and steroids and since he has quit all that puffed up) always says ” Fat is where is’t at”.

yep it is an eye with the lids pierced open. I designed that piece when I started college. I honestly hadn’t slept in days because I was afraid that I’d forget to do something and fail all of my classes. I got over the initial shock of college, but the image stuck with me, and now it’s a part of me. 🙂

You guys got busy after I left work…
Just got back from the allergist – he wouldn’t give me my shots because I have a summer sore throat – I told him it was just from the allergies and he wouldn’t believe me….oh well any more I can’t tell if the treatments are helping any. So I stopped on the way home and got a chi latte to make my throat feel better.
I have no excuss anymore for the weight either – I’m no longer on the meds that caused the weight gain (haven been for 20 years), I have a tred mill (rarely use), and when I was out of work I dropped 20 pounds – now of course that was due to depression and I put 15 pounds of it back on….but if I am getting appreciative looks from some one like Paul, then baby I’m happy the way I am – and unlike the guys in highschool I KNOW he’s not looking at me that way thinking “shes easy” I can’t even get him to go on a real date! Besides I got on the elevator to leave work and this gor-ge-ous man got on and he started flirting with me! ….oh I went all highschool (Brain shut off)… and damn I didn’t find out if he worked in the building or if he was just visiting! ( he was kind of a cross between Jason Stathem and Bruce Willis)Doofus big time….so now I’m going to have to stop the elevator on the that floor every once in awhile to see if he’s around…. 😉 I’ll need a new obsession after Paul quits.
Well I think I’ll go have dinner now – still haven’t gone for groceries so I have no idea if I have anything – be back later!

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I was so anxious to tell you people what I read about the not!reruns that I forgot my manners. I am A MAJOR LURKER, that’s who I am (or have been until now). Since I’m a stranger to you all, it’s obvious I’ve never posted here before (or anywhere else, for that matter). Although I posted the not!reruns info on the LT board, too.
I am as obsessed as you all are with BT, and especially with Henry. I’ve been waiting for my application to the BT wing of the Clinic, but I suppose there’s a loooong waiting list to get in. I don’t have much time at work or home to read the posts, so I skim like a lot of you do. And being online that is not work-related is a no-no where I work. However, I’m pretty good at keeping the mouse hovering over the tab that goes to a blank Word page.
I live in Beaverton, Oregon, single, and when I get a little more comfortable *being* here, I’ll tell you how old I am. I feel like I know you all, but not *that* well. I’m not used to posting (just lurking!), so I don’t know what else to say.

Vapor – At least your manual is ONLY 150 pages! I’m only as far as page 100 in the training manual for the program for the new position (Thank goodness they had started dumping work on me before they gave me the new job) and I think that is only chapter 4 of 11……Its like learning a new language. And I just found out they want to “step things up!” so that the girl I am currently working under can transfer back to the home office!….aug! I can’t blame her for wanting to leave – she only lives 15 minutes from there and she has a 1 &1/2 hour commute to our location. But I’m not ready! Oh well, I’ll muddle through.
FYI – you’ll be seeing me less during the day – I’ve heard through the grapevine (from my buds in IT) that the company is seriously considering installing spy ware on our system so they can track who’s sneeking online when they are not suposed to….all because a few people downloaded some stuff they weren’t suposed to (naughty, naughty)…so I’m going to start practicing restraint now…but its so hard to stay away! the blog calls to me! “I wonder what they are talking about”, “whos doing what”, “has anyone heard anything yet?” you know the routine. Just one more symptom of BloodTiesitis!

Things have been really hectic both at work and at home so I haven’t had time to participate much.
I apologize to those of you who are waiting to find out what happens to Keiron. After that last big spurt of creativity I’ve been experiencing a little writers block. I’ve written a couple pages but it’s been a bit of a struggle and I’m not sure if I’m happy with it or not. I’m going to give it a try tonight and see what happen.
I was just looking at the catalog for our local community college and they have an all day writer’s seminar that I’ve been wanting to enroll in for years . I’ve almost got myself talked into it. It’s on Saturday this year so I don’t have to miss time from work, although it’s the same day as the BIG fund raiser for my daughter’s marching band so I will probably be accused yet again of being a horrible Mother. That’s the story of my life these days. I am taking the time to do some things that I want to do, and not spending 100% of my time on the family so I’m a terrible Mom.
I keep telling myself some day she will be in my shoes and understand. I the meanwhile though it’s very hard because when she’s unhappy, everybody’s
unhappy. You know what I mean?

I don’t think I will take a new name like the rest of the girls because I really like this one. I’m debating using it as my nom de plume if I ever publish my book.

I loved Interview too. Louis is awesome but, I can’t help it Lestat just has that certain vampiric attitude. He’s my favorite. He’s just so good at being bad. My all time favorite book in the series is Tale of the Body Thief. I have a first edition copy of it signed by Ann. It’s one of my treasures. I also have a signed copy of Servant of the Bones but I didn’t like that one.

You guys are probably going to string me up for this, but I never watched Buffy. After I read the Vampire Chronicles back in the early 90’s I just could never find anything that lived up to it . The premise for Buffy sounded ridiculous so I never even tried it. The same with Laurel K. Hamilton’s books. My girlfriend gave me the first one. I read it and thought it was stupid at the time. But then about 2 years ago I reread it and was hooked. I started getting into vamps again and read her entire series. Then Henry come along, and the rest as they say is history. After I finish my novel I’m going to take Buffy out of the library and watch the whole series in one sitting. I have to wait till I’m done though, don’t want to be influenced.

Eh. Forever Knight is WAY too depressing for me anymore. I did buy Season 2 on DVD, but so far I only watched the first DVD. I never even watched most of my Buffy DVD’s and I haven’t watched the rest of the eps I still have on tape for a long while now. I am so lacking. Ugh. Ditto on Nigel Bennett though. LaCroix ended up being one of my fav characters in FK. Totally wanted to slap Nick. Big time. *g* I had a dream once that I also asked LaCroix to turn me. Told you I have issues. 😉

Danae I understand the Tom Syndrome. He ruined it for me, all of it! I loved all his movies “A few good men” still one of my fav’s and Jerry McGuire but I will never spend my money @ the show to see his movies. He got soooo bizarre and self righteous(sp). However that being said I loved Interview and couldn’t see him playing the part at first, but I think he did a great job. I adore Brad Pitt , OMG “Legends of the fall” he can make me cry when he cries, love him. What a fine, beautiful man riding up on horseback 😉

Here’s my confession guys…. I have never seen an episode of Buffy, Angel of Forever Knight. I’ve never even seen all of Interview With A Vampire. It just didn’t hold my interest…… Owww, please stop throwing the those stones…… I told you all I didn’t watch much TV at all. The only reason I started watching Blood Ties is because I love paranormal romances, not necessarily just vampire ones, but anyway Blood Ties looked like an adaptation of something I might read. Soooooo very happy that I tuned in.
As for Tom Cruise…. I don’t like him anymore either although he used to be one of my favorite actors. I still love Rain Man. A little trivia for you. A large part of that movie was filmed in Cincinnati. In fact the toothpick scene was filmed in a restaurant in my hometown of Newport, KY.

What you said about kids is not completely true. I happen to think the world of my mother and in fact I think she has done too much for me. She has had to play therapist and nurse to me for a very large portion of my life and she has done an amazing job of it.

I’m still feeling yucky – and now its raining – so i feel worse then this morning. Oh well.
Today has been one of those days…first my sister calls me – she is not ALLOWED to callme at work (can’t get her off the phone), unless of course its an emergeny – so of course thats what I think it is = right? – the twit needed a phone number and mom wasn’t home! I kept my cool but I really wanted to smack her for freaking me out.
Then mom called (Hey I’m at work guys, hello!) the intimate luncheon B-Day for my grandma saturday has now turned into a semi formall dinner – AUG! why can’t they keep things simple! anyway mom was calling to tell me that since the 4 has gone up from $20 a head to $36 a head shes going to pay the differnce on mine – so now I have the guilties because I’m just going to use that money “I’m saving” to buy postcards!…hahahahahaha
Anywho I’m off will check back if I have time left when lunch is over!

Prtfvr, I did see that when I watched something on Coppola maybe a Biography show. Yeah not good for the PETA people, I’m sure they went after him after that. I don’t think the actor in the bed knew the plan was a real “dead head” as it were. So the screaming I think was kind of real. Sadly they are still exporting horses to other horse eating countries , disgusting and wierd but I watched the rest of “Dreamer” while making up my face today. I’m such a sap on movies w/animals great movie if you haven’t seen it. I like Kurt Russell too (still looks good) and he’s a good family man. ((((Tangent))))

prtfvr-I don’t really have mom issues either. My mom are the closest compared to her and my two sisters. Yes I can get really pissy at her, especially when she throws her guilt trips but, I love her to pieces and would never exchange her. Oh and she always made an excuse for not going to my choir concerts and that still kinda pisses me off but that was over 10 years ago so it is water under the bridge. I think the fighting, mother is ruining my life is part of the age at the time and it also comes with the territory for several people.

Prtfvr — I’m a very good Mom and I’ve always been there and sacrificed for my daughter. She was sick with asthma when she was younger. My husband and I barely saw each other for years because I worked second shift and he worked first so we wouldn’t have to put her in daycare.
I guess I’m going through a bit of a mid-life crisis. I have some things I want to do before I die and I am taking the time to do them now that she is more self sufficient. If I wait until she’s old enough to move out on her own , who knows what could happen? I’m still there for her, I’m just not sitting and waiting for her to need me anymore, because she doesn’t need me as often. Mostly now it’s just to play chauffeur anyway. She really good with the guilt trips though.

Danae/Dani: I’m cool with that because I already knew Dani. It’s close enough that I can remember. For other people the “aka” thing really helps me. I’m easily flustered so when I feel like I’m out of control or am not sure who I’m talking to because I can’t remember, it’s really stressful. My issue, no one else’s. The cheat sheet idea is perfect. I just don’t want to have to come out and ask who someone is when they’ve already said it before. I feel stupid. I feel that way alot and try to avoid it where possible. So, like I said, my issues. Doesn’t require that anyone change to suit my alzheimers! 😉
Regarding mother issues: I didn’t mean that you had to hate your mom! Just that everyone always has a story of something their mother did that wasn’t so lovable all the time. If that makes sense? Actually, I’m adopted so I guess I was the one who wasn’t lovable!

I don’t have many stories that my mother wasn’t lovable. She only hit me once and I think I was grounded 2 or 3 times total. I was to good. That really annoys me. My sister call me Goodie Two Shoes. Amber is adopted so I hope she doesn’t end up feeling the way you feel.
You know I have been wondering if I should tell you guys this but here goes, I have a breast reduction when I was 24. There, it’s out. I was worried because some people think you shouldn’t mess with what God gave you. Honestly he gave me too much. 😛

Okay, I can offer you all some time with my mom! She is awsome and would gladly adopt the whole lot of you. As an adopted daughter she is very understanding of insecurities, and she is a lifetime WW memeber, so she understands the struggle with body image as well. The grandmother I just lost was her Mother (aunt by birth) and a truly remarkable woman as well. I would gladly share with all of you. I’m already sharing her with Moonbeam.
Arrowyn – cool another Oregonian! And another from Washington County, no less. Too funny. We should find a way to get together soon. I have met all of the other admitted Oregonians on this blog. I met Gypsy at Powells’ downtown, Elizabeth for lunch in Sherwood, and Moonbeam is my sister-in-law (from Eugene). Warning – my anti-stalker squad accompanies me on initial contact visits!
Gypsy – oh, man I forgot to call you after I got in last night! (head slap) It was kind of late and I totally spaced until just now. Yikes. I’m sorry, my brain hasn’t been focusing this past week, and I guess I’ll just have to ride it out.

Oh it made me much more confident and It was the best thing that I ever did for myself. If any of you have the inkling to do it I completely suggest no matter your age. The doctor said I was most likely a EEE and I was wearing DD bras. He brought me down to a C. It was nearly 10 lbs of fat he took out. I even convinced the insurance company to pay for it. I had grooves developing in my shoulders from the bra straps. I would have developed back problems if I hadn’t done it. Plus I could wear cuter shirts. It was very painful but I can hardly remember that except there was a lot.

See, here’s another thing. It seems like I was fishing for love but I’m actually just being depressed. I sure hope the vacation helps because this merry-go-round blows! I feel ridiculous even complaining because there’s absolutely nothing wrong in my life. That of course sends me into the bonus guilt tailspin. Sheesh, I wish I could take a vacation from me!
Danae: A girl’s gotta walk upright, for pete’s sake! Who needs a bad back from that, plus, I’ll bet it was hard to find clothes that fit right. Like I’m a whole size larger on the bottom (baby’s got back) so I can never buy a set of something. Also, why clothes “designers” and I use the term loosely, think all chubby women have big tits is beyond me!
I mean, good grief! Who wants to walk around in a bathing suit with a baggy top? I mean, that’s just sad. I’m a C too which isn’t a bad size so who the hell are they making these things for? Can’t they make two versions? You find a sexy nighty but it’s baggy in the top so unless you want to put darts in it yourself, you pass and move on to the next sexy shapeless thing you can find. ARGH!!

Regarding being adopted: I have that wacky story where my grandmother adopted me, my mother was my sister, my grandfather is probably my father. So I wasn’t exactly chosen. More like resigned to keeping me.

If they keep you out of shame and lie about the nature of your birth and hide your birth mother away so that no one finds out that SHE was actually the one who was pregnant, well golly…that’s love for ya right there! You might think your family would resent you for being the result of that problem but I’m sure mine were just plain old crazy about me! They loved me, I know but damn! It would have been nice to be told that once in a while.

I love you to bits! Even with all the craziness of your heritage, I think you are cool. There’s crazy crap everywhere and we can deal or not and I think you deal sista’. I want you on my team anyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Don’t worry cuz’ we CLEARLY don’t pity you, and you are right we all need to hear the words every now and then.
I live with my mom and dad , I help them out they’re on SS and they would really struggle alone. Anyway since losing my sister I swore to myself that I would never hang up a phone w/family or friends without saying I Love You. I spent Sunday w/my sister and Monday she had an aneurysm and was gone. I never want anyone to doubt that I loved them and I still kiss my mom and dad goodnight before I hit the hay and tell them I love them. So that being said and you know how I am when I say I love Ya’ know that it’s the real thing.
On that depressing note I’m going to eat lunch.

I just wish I could figure it out and fix the problem. *Sigh* I just feel like they’res no point to anything anymore. And I never even feel like I took a vacation ’cause right after I got back I fell at work and felt like total crap all over again. If I could take one right now I SO would.

You are not alone in your family history. In fact I know a girl who got pregnant when she was 18, married the father and had the baby. They were married for a few years, then got divorced. Then she got pregnant again. She kept her pregnancy a secret from everyone who knew her and let her aunt and uncle adopt the baby. However the story was told that her aunt actually had the baby. So basically her cousin is really her mother and she may never know it.
As far as clothing and bodily proportions are concerned…. buying jeans drives me nuts. You all probably can’t tell from my pictures but I have really tiny legs. So when I find a pair of pants that actually fit me in the waist the legs look like MC Hammer pants on me. Sooooo not good.
Alright enough sadness for today….. Where’s Henry? Who’s got him? He’s got a lot of rounds to make tonight.

I have a hard time finding pants that fit both my waist and hips. If they fit my hips they are to loose on my waist. If they fit my waist they are to tight on my hips.

I’m only 5’3 so the length is always a problem for me too. Hips are never the problem. My problem is with the thighs and calves. If they fit me in the waist I can usually get two legs in one.

I’m 5’4 and some obscure fraction which means I’m “too tall” for petites and too short for averages so it’s either high waters or rolling the cuffs up all the time. Ok, there’s also just walking on the excess which I do from time to time.
If I find pants that fit my hips, the waist is too big. OR, if I don’t put the jeans on first and don’t buy relaxed fit, I can’t get the pulled up past my knees! “Real Women” my big, white ass!

I am pretty average in height. I am about 5’6″. I always by the long length jeans. I like them to drag and get frayed on the bottom. My mom hates it when I buy jeans like that.

Madonna – I’m okay. My Grandma was pretty out of it the past couple of years. It has been nine years since my Grandpa died and they were inseperable for 63 years before that. She has been kind of lost ever since he died and it is comforting to think of them being together again somewhere, so that is what I chose to believe. The memorial service was lovely, with all of the grandchildren speaking a small memory, and even some of her nieces and nephews spoke. My Mom and Uncle were too distraught to speak, but we all visited for a couple of hours after the service and they both remembered some wonderful things.

Laurel-My grandmother is acting very different since my grandfather passed in January. I think she is still very lost and confused. It will be a comfort to they will be together again when she goes. I am not looking forward to that moment though.

at 5’8″ I usually have to go with the talls, if I can find them. It seems that they just don’t make many in the size my butt/hips are. Oh and I have been giving serious concederation to having the same procedure as Dani. I have problem with shirts with buttons, if it fits the girls I’m swimming in the rest of it.

Madonna – Right now I am feeling much better. 🙂 I’m not even needing to take advil so that works for me. My doctor doesn’t know what to think since we have ruled out a number of really bad things, but if I have another bad cycle like the last two I will probably have to have some kind of exploratory surgery. I would totally like to avoid that whole scene, so I’m praying for menopause to come and take care of things. Unfortunately, test show the big M is not even close. Phooey.
For now I’m just hoping for a long reprieve. Last time I had an eight month break between bad times, and before that ten months. Maybe I won’t have another bad one, who knows.

Go for it Maddie. I went to the back doctor to have him check my back and have him say that he couldn’t find a reason for my back to bother me. Then my mom took pictures of my breasts and sent them to the plastic surgeon who sent them to the insurance company, we went to Florida for my brother’s wedding and when we came back there was a message saying the insurance company approved the procedure. I figure it was a small sacrifice to have my boobs sent to the insurance company and having a bunch of strangers staring at them if I could feel good about myself. Do research on several plastic surgeons in your area first. I have Anthem Blue Cross for insurance and they are surprisingly really flexible. If you make a decision soon let me know and how it goes.

Hey we all have mom issues…I could type ALL DAY on my mother…As the middle abused child of three girls…I was the “fat” one…my nickname given to me by my mother was…”Baby Hughie” For those who are to young to know.(including me) He was a fat, waddly duck in a cartoon. How is that for an issue. Anyway….my solace is I am now the skinniest of the three of us, and I have the best marriage out of the three of us. So I have proven that I am not the “baby Hughie” of the family and I can accomplish what I want.

Dani- A friend of mine here at work had hers done about 5 yrs ago and she got her insurance to pay for it to stop migraines, I had never heard of such a thing but apparently it can cause it and the insurance will pay for it eveytime if the doctor codes it that way. My friend also told me that it was extremely painful afterwords for about 2 weeks, but that it was the best thing she ever did for herself. If I decide to go threw with it I better wait till I don’t have the little one crawling all over me all the time. Not sure that would be too good with the pain.

msgypsy – I loved the reference to Two and a Half Mountains! For those who don’t know, the volcano I mentioned before that’s in Washington blew it’s top many years back. I’ve read a little bit about the SCA and I used to go to the Renaissance Faire outside of SF when I lived in CA. I really admired everyone who was involved. Sounds fun, but very difficult.
Before I went home last night, I think hunger was making my fingers weak. I spelled my own name wrong! It’s not “arrowynne” unless you’re Comcast and won’t accept “arrowyn”. I guess my handle wasn’t as unique as I thought.
Vapor – good to know that you’re getting my room ready at the Clinic. Does it come stocked with Henry paraphenalia, or should I order ahead? With 57 days left to survive (but who’s counting. Ha! You all are!), no reruns, and not enough time to watch the tapes as much as I want to (I know, but work and sleep HAVE to be priorities!), I need all the help I can get.

My cousin dropped from a size 20 to a size 12 – but amazingly kept her chest…I find her the cutest blouses to try on and she can’t get them over “the girls” so she is very frustrated….but then again I’ll try on a blouse and “the girls” are falling out! Why do they make such loose tops? Sometimes I think designers are clueless!

Prtfvr – you were right, the surgery I am trying to avoid is the general “gutted like a fish” surgery for women. 😦 My doctor is back from a series of seminars, after being gone for several weeks, and left me a message to call him in the morning to set up another discussion. I’m hoping he heard something at one of the classes that would give us a clue about what is wrong. (fingers crossed).

Wildstar d’Nightwalker, yes I think Airborne can make you feel better. I do the night time hot cider one. Not bad and has a little something in it to let you sleep more comfortably too. It boosts your immune system and you heal quicker. Nighty night ! Feel better 😉

Gypsy – I may have to take a rain-check on lunch. The job I was supposed to start on Monday has been very patient with my leaving town, but it would probably be a good idea for me to spend tomorrow learning the set up and looking serious about doing the job. I am working for the NW Quilter’s Expo as the ticketing and class coordinator. I have worked for this expo before, just not in this capacity and the fliers just went out to hundreds of people in the area.
My e-mail is suffering some strange illness. I can read everyone’s e-mails but I can not move from one to the next. The page freezes and I have to go clear out of the system and refresh the page before I can request anything. I am unable to forward or compose messages either. Weird. It did this a couple of times while I was at my parent’s house, but I chalked it up to being away from my home computer.

The play is Saturday night so I won’t be quite so rushed after that and can probably stick around and blog more.

I get to leave work early today to go see my daughter’s first perfomance in the FCMB (Fighting Cardinals Marching Band )Should be fun.
I laughed so hard last evening, at the end of their practice 130 kids had a shaving cream war. It was hysterical. Then they had the fire department come in and hose them all clean. They had a ball, and they all deserved a little R&R. They’ve been working real hard. I anticipate the show this afternoon will be great.
